Indoor Positioning System (IPS) has been widely used in today’s industry for the various purposes of locating people or objects such as inspection, navigation, and security. Many research works have been done to develop the system by using wireless technology such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The techniques that can give some better performances in terms of accuracy have been investigated and developed. In this paper, ZigBee IEEE 802.15.4 wireless communication protocols are used to implement an indoor localization application system. The research is focusing more on analyzing the behaviour of Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) reading under several conditions and locations by applying the Trilateration algorithm for localizing. The conditions are increasing the number of transmitters, experimented in the non-wireless connection room and wireless connection room by comparing the variation of RSSI values. Analysis of the result shows that the accuracy of the system was improved as the number of transmitters was increased.

In this study, multiple control systems were developed using commonly used wireless communication protocols like Bluetooth, Xbee, and Wi-Fi. Mechanical switch based control systems were initially designed using Xbee and Bluetooth protocols. Further, Android application based control systems were developed using Bluetooth and Wi-Fi protocols. A robotic vehicle was used as an electric-powered wheelchair prototype. Ultrasonic sensors and infrared sensors were integrated with the robotic vehicle for obstacle and pothole detection, respectively. The control systems were tested in an L-shaped corridor for identifying the suitable wireless communication protocol to efficiently guide the robotic vehicle through a scheduled navigational pathway. Both Xbee and Wi-Fi technology based control systems were able to guide the robotic vehicle through the corridor. But the implementation of Xbee communication protocol is economic. However, for shorter distances, Bluetooth technology may be used for cost-effective implementation.

Agriculture is the most important sector of economy, contributing major employment in the country and helping to develop the industry development with 16 percent of the national GDP growth and improving the life of people. Agriculture provides food, fiber, fuel, furniture, raw materials, a free fare and fresh environment, and plenteous nourishment for driving out starvation. But in the present scenario, the manual practices being followed by the farmers in our country are posing a huge threat to the sustenance of this sector. There is a need to incorporate automated system for various agricultural activities like irrigation, soil monitoring, harvesting and weather monitoring. Herein, we have created a Smart IoT based agriculture field monitoring and automatic field controlling agricultural storage system. The objective of any IOT system is to develop a smart automation system (smart home, smart IoT agriculture, smart monitor health, smart easy transport, etc.) using IoT technologies such as wireless sensors, embedded control devices and wireless communication protocols. We hereby present an IoT system interconnected with wireless devices which can sense the field and send the data to assigned system and finally the results can be noted with proper arrangements. Wireless sensors are used to sense the field and monitor the field with various aspects controlled manually and could be automated based on the requirement. In this paper we shall see that this IoT system shall not directly connect every device with the Internet but will connect through VPS integrated IoT Gateway. We propose a system that shall monitor and control the moisture level in the field soil and this real time data will be transmitted to the client to provide security for the farmland and avoid animal threats. The proposed smart IoT system will also monitor the growth of the trees.

Research work is being done in the field of wireless communication protocols in order to find the desired applicability suitable to the end user. ZigBee protocol is chosen due to its reliable, long range and robust communication. In this direction there is need of designing a common communication protocol to realize a virtual control network by customizing the existing ZigBee protocol stack. It is also required to embed internet support protocols in different layers of the proposed stack so as to enable the entire network with internet connectivity. The proposed application aims at interoperating different devices under user personal area network, this fact has led to propose a new protocol stack with which every device of the network can be easily operated or controlled with enhanced network capabilities like resource sharing, additional middle layer for realising the proposed application using WPAN christened as ZigBee IP [ZI] stack. ZI stack is designed and the corresponding mathematical modelling is done in order to find better stack than ZigBee. This paper presents the design and modelling of throughput which is one of the important design parameters. Both the stacks viz., ZI and ZigBee are also compared w.r.t throughput
