Express buses provide cheap and convenient services for long distance travelling. However, the safety aspect of express buses is a primary concern for passengers. The government and the private sector have contributed in improving the safety level of express buses. However, the accident and death rates involving express buses remains at a high level. There is a lack of detailed analysis regarding express bus accidents from the perspective of bus operators. Thus, this study was conducted to identify the causes of express bus accidents, characterize the statistical factors of express bus accidents and evaluate the safety of express buses in Malaysia from the perspectives of bus operators. The methodology consists of a survey conducted among staffs serving express bus operators located at the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The results showed that from bus operators’ perspective, road factors are the main contributors to the factors of occurrence of express bus accidents. In conclusion, the statistical characterization of accident causes has been determined and this can contribute in helping the bus operators and the community reduce express bus accidents and increase overall safety.

Public transport safety is still an issue that needs to be studied by bureaucrats and researchers. This is because public bus accidents are still quite high. This is because many families, involved in traffic accidents, are shocked by the accident. Therefore, the problem of perception of a safe bus needs to be studied. The purpose of this study was to determine the perception model of a safe public bus. Mathematical modeling based on the parameters that have been studied was selected first. While the second objective was to determine the importance value of the parameters that are an indication of the perception of the safety of intercity bus public transportation. This research is a type of perceptual one where the data is taken from the relevant respondents. The method of data collection was carried out using a questionnaire with respondents from bus company owners, drivers, and passengers in the province of East Java, Indonesia. Respondents were asked to answer questions related to the variables of income, speed, comfort, and safety. The method of conjoint analysis is used. The first stage is the result of modeling the perception of a safe bus. Further analysis is carried out to obtain the importance value of the parameters. The result of this research is a utility model for the perception of a safe bus, which is expressed by the equation U, where the variables include income, speed, comfort, and safety. The highest level of importance is income 33.29 %, followed by the security variable with a weight of 25.39 %. This shows that the income factor is a top priority for drivers and management of bus company owners, while road safety is second only to income. In other words, respondents' perceptions are more concerned with income, while safety is still a non-priority factor.

The study discussed the concept of tort liability as regards to education with a definite focus on its implication for teachers. Torts was simply described as civil wrong which could range from negligence, intentional and strict tort. Tortious liability arises out of breach of duty primarily fixed by the law. This duty is towards persons generally and its breach is redressable by an action for unliquidated damages. School tort liabilities may arise from the following incidents school bus accidents, children injured while crossing school crosswalks, food poisoning from school meals, exposure to hazardous material or chemicals, failure to evacuate children properly, slip and falls on school premises. The study recommended that the teacher should be aware of duties of supervision, duties of instruction, duties to protect and awareness of the health condition of students in the class.

Article visualizations:

Bus transportation performance must be able to demonstrate safety performance capabilities, one of which is the condition of the vehicle. Therefore, to achieve bus vehicles' safety performance, research must be carried out to determine the causes of accidents. This study aims to determine the causes of accidents related to vehicle conditions. Some of the variables that are observed include brake, wheel, equipment, stability, and worthiness. The data collection method used is to collect secondary data on the incidence of accidents from each Resort Police Office in each district traversed by the intercity public bus route. The roads traversed by the public bus transportation routes between the cities that are the object of the study include Sidoarjo Regency, Pasuruan Regency, Probolinggo Regency, Mojokerto Regency, Madiun Regency, and Ngawi Regency. The analytical method to obtain mathematical modeling is to use Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The results show that five factors analyzed, four main actors, cause intercity bus accidents, namely brakes, wheels, stability, and worthiness. The four factors are interrelated with each other, where these factors support each other and trigger accidents and obtained a mathematical model of the factors causing the accident which can be explained by two mathematical equations, namely PC1=0.61X1+0.70X2+0.46X3+0.63X4+0.72X5 and PC2= 0.47X1 0.17X2+0.76X3 0.26X4+0.31X5. The study results also illustrate that accidents caused by an inappropriate wheel are always followed by a breakdown of the braking system that is not functioning properly, and the wheel system consisting of wheel and brake conditions will be a problem triggering the accident

In recent years, the casualties of traffic accidents caused by driving cars have been gradually increasing. In particular, there are more serious injuries and deaths than minor injuries, and the damage due to major accidents is increasing. In particular, heavy cargo trucks and high-speed bus accidents that occur during driving in the middle of the night have emerged as serious social problems. Therefore, in this study, a drowsiness prevention system was developed to prevent large-scale disasters caused by traffic accidents. In this study, machine learning was applied to predict drowsiness and improve drowsiness prediction using facial recognition technology and eye-blink recognition technology. Additionally, a CO2 sensor chip was used to detect additional drowsiness. Speech recognition technology can also be used to apply Speech to Text (STT), allowing a driver to request their desired music or make a call to avoid drowsiness while driving.
