ABSTRACT Objectives: to perform a cross-cultural adaptation of the Latino Student Patient Safety Questionnaire for Brazilian Nursing and Medical students. Methods: methodological study carried out in six stages — forward translation, synthesis, back-translation, expert committee assessment, pre-test and reporting to the authors of the original instrument. Data at the expert committee and pre-test stages were collected and analyzed using the web platform e-Surv. The level of agreement adopted for the expert committee evaluation with 20 participants and the pre-test evaluation with 38 students was ≥ 90%. Results: the first evaluation round by the expert committee showed a <90% agreement for 21 out of the 26 questionnaire items, requiring adjustments. In the pre-test, three items in the instrument reached a <90% agreement and were revised to obtain the final version. Conclusions: the Brazilian version of the Latino Student Patient Safety Questionnaire instrument was considered culturally adapted to Brazilian Portuguese.

This chapter looks at Carmen Pursifull, who, like many of the writers of the first half of the twentieth century, were distanced from the radical politics of community ideologues and dreamers. Intense, erotic, ironic, sometimes embarrassingly direct, flat, uneven, at times evocative and haunting, Pursifull's poetry portrays the full range of her life. Since 1975, Pursifull has published widely in Illinois, Midwestern, and national publications, including a few poems in the literary magazine of the University of Illinois' La Casa Cultura Latina—the campus' Latino student center, of which she became a kind of local poet laureate and matriarch. In 1982, she also self-published the largest volume of poetry by any Illinois Puerto Rican poet, Carmen by Moonlight. Since then, she has added several small volumes to her published opus and has worked on other texts, including a novel.

Teaching and Reaching Every Area (TAREA) is a comprehensive school–family–community partnership designed to increase Latino student achievement. The authors use action research to describe how a school counselor developed TAREA and post hoc analysis to provide examples of social justice and systemic collaboration leadership dimensions. The authors detail parent, staff, and student engagement outcomes. Throughout, they transform the abstract concept of leadership into concrete steps for school counselor advocacy and action.
