We give a general formula for the $C$-transfinite diameter $\delta_C(K)$ of a compact set $K\subset \mathbb{C}^2$ which is a product of univariate compacta where $C\subset (\mathbb{R}^+)^2$ is a convex body. Along the way we prove a Rumely type formula relating $\delta_C(K)$ and the $C$-Robin function $\rho_{V_{C,K}}$ of the $C$-extremal plurisubharmonic function $V_{C,K}$ for $C \subset (\mathbb{R}^+)^2$ a triangle $T_{a,b}$ with vertices $(0,0)$, $(b,0)$, $(0,a)$. Finally, we show how the definition of $\delta_C(K)$ can be extended to include many nonconvex bodies $C\subset \mathbb{R}^d$ for $d$-circled sets $K\subset \mathbb{C}^d$, and we prove an integral formula for $\delta_C(K)$ which we use to compute a formula for $\delta_C(\mathbb{B})$ where $\mathbb{B}$ is the Euclidean unit ball in $\mathbb{C}^2$.

It was conjectured by Lang that a complex projective manifold is Kobayashi hyperbolic if and only if it is of general type together with all of its subvarieties. We verify this conjecture for projective manifolds whose universal cover carries a bounded, strictly plurisubharmonic function. This includes in particular compact free quotients of bounded domains. Comment: 10 pages, no figures, comments are welcome. v3: following suggestions made by the referee, the exposition has been improved all along the paper, we added a variant of Theorem A which includes manifolds whose universal cover admits a bounded psh function which is strictly psh just at one point, and we added a section of examples. Final version, to appear on \'Epijournal G\'eom. Alg\'ebrique

Abstract We prove that for a pseudoconvex domain of the form $${\mathfrak {A}} = \{(z, w) \in {\mathbb {C}}^2 : v > F(z, u)\}$$ A = { ( z , w ) ∈ C 2 : v > F ( z , u ) } , where $$w = u + iv$$ w = u + i v and F is a continuous function on $${\mathbb {C}}_z \times {\mathbb {R}}_u$$ C z × R u , the following conditions are equivalent: The domain $$\mathfrak {A}$$ A is Kobayashi hyperbolic. The domain $$\mathfrak {A}$$ A is Brody hyperbolic. The domain $$\mathfrak {A}$$ A possesses a Bergman metric. The domain $$\mathfrak {A}$$ A possesses a bounded smooth strictly plurisubharmonic function, i.e. the core $$\mathfrak {c}(\mathfrak {A})$$ c ( A ) of $$\mathfrak {A}$$ A is empty. The graph $$\Gamma (F)$$ Γ ( F ) of F can not be represented as a foliation by holomorphic curves of a very special form, namely, as a foliation by translations of the graph $$\Gamma ({\mathcal H})$$ Γ ( H ) of just one entire function $${\mathcal {H}} : {\mathbb {C}}_z \rightarrow {\mathbb {C}}_w$$ H : C z → C w .

We establish that a sequence (Xk)k∈N of analytic subsets of a domain Ω in Cn, purely dimensioned, can be released as the family of upper-level sets for the Lelong numbers of some positive closed current. This holds whenever the sequence (Xk)k∈N satisfies, for any compact subset L of Ω, the growth condition Σ k∈N Ck mes(Xk ∩ L) < ∞. More precisely, we built a positive closed current Θ of bidimension (p, p) on Ω, such that the generic Lelong number mXk of Θ along each Xk satisfies mXk = Ck. In particular, we prove the existence of a plurisubharmonic function v on Ω such that, each Xk is contained in the upper-level set ECk (ddcv)

A version of Gromov’s cup product lemma in which one factor is the (1, 0)-part of the differential of a continuous plurisubharmonic function is obtained. As an application, it is shown that a connected noncompact complete Kähler manifold that has exactly one end and admits a continuous plurisubharmonic function that is strictly plurisubharmonic along some germ of a [Formula: see text]-dimensional complex analytic set at some point has the Bochner–Hartogs property; that is, the first compactly supported cohomology with values in the structure sheaf vanishes.

We study the equation [Formula: see text] in [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] is a bounded strictly pseudoconvex domain in [Formula: see text], with the boundary condition [Formula: see text] and the initial condition [Formula: see text]. In this paper, we consider the case, where [Formula: see text] is smooth and [Formula: see text] is an arbitrary plurisubharmonic function in a neighborhood of [Formula: see text] satisfying [Formula: see text].

We generalize the Poletsky disc envelope formula for the function $\sup \{u\in \mathcal{PSH}(X,\omega); u\leq \phi\}$ on any complex manifold $X$ to the case where the real $(1,1)$-current $\omega=\omega_1-\omega_2$ is the difference of two positive closed $(1,1)$-currents and $\varphi$ is the difference of an $\omega_1$-upper semicontinuous function and a plurisubharmonic function.
