Abstract Background The primary objective of this study is twofold: (1) to examine the effect of COVID-19 safety measures, enacted to prevent transmission of SARS-nCOV-2, on total physical activity in the adult general population (≥ 18 years) and (2) to analyze the impact of the factor “severity of safety measures” on potential changes in physical activity. The secondary objective is to investigate the effects of safety measures on the respective PA intensities, i.e., sedentary behavior, light, moderate, and vigorous physical activity. Methods A systematic literature search will be performed in the following online databases: Medline (on Ovid), Web of Science, Scopus, L.OVE Coronavirus disease by Epistemonikos, and ProQuest Dissertations & Theses A&I. All obtained citations will undergo title and abstract as well as full-text screening by two independent reviewers. Observational studies investigating the effects of safety measures on physical activity patterns in the adult general population will be included. The standardized mean difference in total physical activity per time unit between pre- and during COVID-19 or between normative data and during COVID-19 will be the primary outcome. The standardized mean difference in sedentary time, light, moderate, and vigorous physical activity will be assessed as secondary outcomes. Eligible studies will be divided between the reviewers for data extraction using a pilot-tested data form. Risk of bias assessment will be performed using a standard assessment tool. If suitable, a random-effects meta-analysis and meta-regression with a unit of safety measure severity as the independent variable will be performed. Discussion This study will synthesize available data reporting the effect of COVID-19 safety measures on physical activity patterns in adults. Furthermore, we will incorporate a unit for the severity of safety measures for better generalizability of the results. These findings will be of great value for public health policymaking and estimating future health consequences. Systematic review registration PROSPERO CRD42021231039.

Noncommunicable diseases are the main cause of death globally, and most are potentially preventable; they are long term diseases and generally evolve slowly. In Uruguay 64.9% of the population between 25 and 64 years of age are either overweight or obese. The available scientific data show that workplaces are good for developing food-intake interventions for a healthier life. The present study aims to report the design, protocol and methodology for the evaluation of the food intake and physical activity patterns of the Uruguayan State Electrical Company (UTE) workers, as it is distributed across the whole country, and has established associations with overweight and obesity in order to establish institutional strategies to improve the situation. This study uses a population and a cross-sectional, randomized, representative sample of UTE workers with a precision of 3% and a confidence level of 95%. The considered anthropometric variables are weight, height, waist circumference, percentage of fat mass and percentage of visceral fat. A questionnaire on frequency of consumption of different foods and two 24-h dietary recalls (24-h DR) will be performed to evaluate the food intake. Accelerometry will be used to evaluate physical activity, and the International physical activity questionnaire (IPAQ) will be applied. Clinical data will be obtained from the UTE clinical charts. This is the first study of its kind that will be undertaken in Uruguay. It is registered under ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier nº NCT04509908.

ABSTRACT: IMPLEMENTATION OF LIGHT AND MODERATE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PATTERNS IN TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS PATIENTS IN PUTRI HIJAU HOSPITAL MEDAN. Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus or also known as non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus is caused by a decrease in sensitivity to insulin or a decrease in the amount of insulin formation which usually occurs at the age of over 40 years, but can also occur in the elderly. of children or adolescents. Non-pharmacological management of Type 2 DM that can be done is the pattern of physical activity. Physical activity is an important part of a diabetes management plan. Objective: This study aims to determine the description of nursing care in Type 2 DM patients related to the Documentation Study of Fulfilling the Needs of Physical Activity Patterns.Research Methods: The research design used was descriptive with a documentation study design using a nursing process approach. Results: There is an overview of meeting the needs of light and moderate physical activity patterns in type 2 DM patients. Conclusion: After the researchers conducted a documentation study of the fulfillment of the needs for physical activity patterns in type 2 DM patients, it could be fulfilled. It is recommended for further researchers to improve the knowledge and skills of health care providers, especially regarding nursing care.
