The chapter “Family Expectations” examines how members of Generation Disaster envision their pursuit of traditional goals like finding a partner, having children, and buying a home in an era when they have more choices than ever—but each choice comes at some cost. For many, the rocky economy, their perceptions about the general safety of the world, and fears about climate change make them question whether it’s appropriate to reproduce at all. As a result of external forces and the major societal shifts around these customary but no longer automatic markers of adulthood, some are taking alternative paths around traditional approaches to family formation—whether by choice or because they feel circumstances beyond their control, like their finances, have forced them to.

Purpose This research’s main objective is to develop an expert-based approach to rank critical asset assessment factors for health-care facilities. This approach will improve the asset management of health-care buildings. This paper aims to study and prioritize the relative importance of asset criticality factors. Design/methodology/approach The research methodology begins with a comprehensive literature review of state-of-the-art health-care facilities management, asset management tools, critical asset assessment and approaches to model techniques. Then, using the expert-based opinion and the collected data through the analytical hierarchy process approach to developing the asset assessment model contains physical, environmental, general safety and revenue loss assessment models. Findings Results showed that the general safety factors and the sub-factors of life safety and physical safety contributed to asset condition assessment. Practical implications The proposed critical asset assessment ranking will benefit health-care facility organizations by assessing their asset performance according to capital renewal needs. Originality/value This study offers a novel conceptual framework to understand and determine rank critical asset assessment factors for health-care facilities.

Background: Job satisfaction is one of the most critical and influential parameters to increase the productivity and efficiency of any organization. Crisis management during disasters is one of the most influential factors, and because disasters put pressure on health care systems, all medical staff, including those working in Rehabilitation, must have the necessary experience and skills to manage in an emergency. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between job satisfaction and crisis-related factors in the staff of non-governmental rehabilitation centers under the supervision of the Tehran Welfare Organization with a preventive approach. Materials and Methods: The present study is a descriptive-correlational study, in which 1403 people from 28 rehabilitation centers in Tehran Province in 2018 were surveyed and selected by the census. We used the data recorded in the demographic section of the standard Employee Satisfaction Survey. This questionnaire consists of 39 items and 5 subscales to measure job status (10 questions), supervisor (8 questions), coworkers (10 questions), promotion (5 questions), and payment (6 questions). It included components of job activity, management, group activities, incentive system, and payment system. The study demographic characteristics were age, gender, level of education, work experience, and the number of working hours. Besides, a researcher-made questionnaire was used to assess the relationship between general safety status and firefighting as a criterion for crisis management and job satisfaction. In different cases, different tests were used. Finally, the data were analyzed using SPSS v. 20. Results: In this study, 657 (46.8%) men and 746 (53.2%) women participated. Findings showed that the average job satisfaction of employees was 3.12, which was at a moderate to high level (maximum score in each department was 5). There was no significant relationship between demographic information (such as age, work experience, level of education, and the number of working hours) and job satisfaction. However, there was a significant relationship between gender and job satisfaction, so that men had higher job satisfaction than women. Also, there was a significant relationship between public safety and firefighting and job satisfaction, so that an increase in the score of general safety and firefighting as an indicator of crisis management led to a significant increase in job satisfaction. Conclusion: According to the results of the researcher-made and validated questionnaires, the level of job satisfaction of employees in the studied centers is in a relatively good condition. Although the level of job satisfaction of the studied employees was moderately high, it needs to be improved. Job satisfaction in crisis management in emergencies can be very effective and improve the performance of the organization. Thus, it is recommended to implement programs for job satisfaction and crisis management in the centers.

The purpose of the research is assessment of karyopathic effect and general safety of Trichinella spiralis and Echinococcus multilocularis protein extracts in mice.Materials and methods. To assess the karyotic effect bone marrow cells were isolated and preparations were prepared using a metaphase method (Ford C. E., Hamerton J. L., 1956). Cytological analysis of bone marrow smears was performed to determine the white cell lineage counts. The main hematological indices of mice were determined at hematological analyzer «Abacus JuniorVet» («Diatron», Austria); differential white blood cell count was analyzed using common method. Blood biochemical indices were determined at biochemical analyzer A-15/25 (BioSystems S.A., Spain). Results and discussion. The intraperitoneal administration of T. spiralis and E. multilocularis protein extracts induced K-mitosis in mice bone marrow cell population. Systemic disorders associated with that cytogenetic effect and general reaction of organism to administration of protein extracts, in particular changes in bone marrow white cell lineage counts and peripheral blood indices were revealed. T. spiralis and E. multilocularis protein products showed some negative effects on liver and kidney function in mice.

The article deals with the measurement and reduction of local vibration from outboard motors on small vessels. The level of local vibration on the tiller of an outboard motor of a small vessel according to GOST 28556-2016 "Outboard Motors. General safety requirements" should be specified in the motor operating instructions, but, according to the authors ' analysis, such information is not specified by manufacturers. To measure the vibration, modern verified equipment was used, including the "Ecofizika-110A" vibrometer. To reduce the vibration of outboard motors, the authors developed a multi-layer transom plate and carried out measurements on a motor boat with outboard motors "SEA PRO 2.5" and "SEA PRO 5.0". As a result of the study, it was found that the developed multi-layer transom overlay provides a maximum reduction of local vibration by 77% when measuring vibration acceleration, m/S2. It is also established that in Russia there are actually no regulatory requirements for the level of vibration on the tiller of outboard motors, while the system provided for in GOST 28556-2016 "Outboard motors. General safety requirements" standard of manufacturing plants, most often not specified in the actual operating instructions. This requires the development and introduction of standards for local vibration on the tiller of outboard motors or the expansion of existing regulations in the field of small vessels.

Periodontal disease is one of the most common causes of tooth loss among adults. Research shows that inflammation is one of the crucial components in the initiation and progression of periodontitis. Various herbal medicines have recently been receiving attention for the management of periodontitis owing to their general safety and efficacy. Curcumin, a bioactive polyphenol extracted from Curcuma longa, has been shown to possess antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Several studies have assessed the efficacy of curcumin against periodontal diseases. These studies have shown equivalent or even higher efficacy of curcumin compared to the commonly used medications for the management of periodontitis such as chlorhexidine. Herein, we review the experimental and clinical findings on the anti-periodontitis effects of curcumin and the pharmacological mechanisms underlying these effects.
