Data hiding is the technique of embedding data into video or audio media. With the development of deep neural networks (DNN), the quality of images generated by novel data hiding methods based on DNN is getting better. However, there is still room for the similarity between the original images and the images generated by the DNN models which were trained based on the existing hiding frameworks to improve, and it is hard for the receiver to distinguish whether the container image is from the real sender. We propose a framework by introducing a key_img for using the over-fitting characteristic of DNN and combined with difference image grafting symmetrically, named difference image grafting deep hiding (DIGDH). The key_img can be used to identify whether the container image is from the real sender easily. The experimental results show that without changing the structures of networks, the models trained based on the proposed framework can generate images with higher similarity to original cover and secret images. According to the analysis results of the steganalysis tool named StegExpose, the container images generated by the hiding model trained based on the proposed framework is closer to the random distribution.

Multitemporal synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images have been widely used for change detection and monitoring of the environment owing to their competency under all weather conditions. However, owing to speckle backgrounds and strong reflections, change detection in urban areas is challenging. In this study, to automatically extract changed objects, we developed a model that integrated change detection and object extraction in multiple Korean Multi-Purpose Satellite-5 (KOMPSAT-5) images. Initially, two arbitrary L1A-level SAR images were input into the proposed model, and after pre-processing, such as radio calibration and coordinate system processing, change detection was performed. Subsequently, the desired targets were automatically extracted from the change detection results. Finally, the model obtained images of the extraction targets and metadata, such as date and location. Noise was removed by applying scale-adaptive modification to the generated difference image during the change detection process, and the detection accuracy was improved by emphasizing the occurrence of the change. After polygonizing the pixel groups of the change detection map in the target extraction process, the morphology-based object filtering technique was applied to minimize the false detection rate. As a result of the proposed approach, the changed objects in the KOMPSAT-5 images were automatically extracted with 90% accuracy.

Moving target detection (MTD) is one of the emphases and difficulties in the field of computer vision and image processing. It is the basis of moving target tracking and behavior recognition. We propose two methods are improved and fused, respectively, and the fusion algorithm is applied to the complex scene for MTD, so as to improve the accuracy of MTD in complex and hybrid scenes. Using the main idea of the three-frame difference image method, the background difference method and the interframe difference method are combined to make their advantages complementary to overcome each other’s weaknesses. The experimental results show that the method can be well adapted to the situation of periodic motion interference in the background, and it can adapt to the situation of sudden background changes.

It is well known that there are geometric distortions in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images when the terrain undulates. Layover is the most common one, which brings challenges to the application of SAR remote sensing. This study proposes a novel detection method that is mainly aimed at the layover caused by mountains and can be performed with only medium-resolution SAR images and no other auxiliary data. The detection includes the following four stages: initial processing, difference image calculation and rough and fine layover detection. Initial processing mainly obtains the potential layover areas, which are mixed with the built-up areas after classification. Additionally, according to the analysis of the backscatter coefficient (BC) of various ground objects with different polarization images, the layover areas are detected step-by-step from the mixed areas, in which the region-based FCM segmentation algorithm and spatial relationship criteria are used. Taking the Danjiangkou Reservoir area as the study area, the relevant experiments with Sentinel-1A SAR images were conducted. The quantitative analysis of detection results adopted the figure of merit (FoM), and the highest accuracy was up to 87.6% of one selected validation region. Experiments in the South Taihang area also showed the satisfactory effect of layover detection, and the values of FoM were all above 85%. These results show that the proposed method can do well in the layover detection caused by mountains. Its simplicity and effectiveness are helpful in removing the influence of layover on SAR image applications to a certain extent and improving the development of SAR remote sensing technology.

Abstract We investigate non-uniformity at SiO2/SiC interfaces by time-resolved scanning nonlinear dielectric microscopy, which permits the simultaneous nanoscale imaging of interface defect density (Dit) and differential capacitance (dC/dV) at insulator-semiconductor interfaces. Here we perform the cross correlation analysis of the images with spatially non-uniform clustering distributions reported previously. We show that Dit images are not correlated with the simultaneous dC/dV images significantly but with the difference image between the two dC/dV images taken with different voltage sweep directions. The results indicate that the dC/dV images visualize the non-uniformity of the total interface charge density and the difference images reflect that of Dit at a particular energy range.

Abstract COVID-19 induced acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) could have two different phenotypes, which might have different response and outcome to the traditional ARDS positive end-expiration pressure (PEEP) treatment. The identification of the different phenotypes in terms of the PEEP recruitment can help improve the patients’ outcome. In this contribution we reported a COVID-19 patient with seven-day electrical impedance tomography monitoring. From the conductivity distribution difference image analysis of the data, a clear course developing trend can be observed in addition to the phenotype identification. This case might suggest that EIT can be a practical tool to identify phenotypes and to provide progressive information of COVID-19 pneumonia.

Change detection is an important task in identifying land cover change in different periods. In synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images, the inherent speckle noise leads to false changed points, and this affects the performance of change detection. To improve the accuracy of change detection, a novel automatic SAR image change detection algorithm based on saliency detection and convolutional-wavelet neural networks is proposed. The log-ratio operator is adopted to generate the difference image, and the speckle reducing anisotropic diffusion is used to enhance the original multitemporal SAR images and the difference image. To reduce the influence of speckle noise, the salient area that probably belongs to the changed object is obtained from the difference image. The saliency analysis step can remove small noise regions by thresholding the saliency map, and interest regions can be preserved. Then an enhanced difference image is generated by combing the binarized saliency map and two input images. A hierarchical fuzzy c-means model is applied to the enhanced difference image to classify pixels into the changed, unchanged, and intermediate regions. The convolutional-wavelet neural networks are used to generate the final change map. Experimental results on five SAR data sets indicated the proposed approach provided good performance in change detection compared to state-of-the-art relative techniques, and the values of the metrics computed by the proposed method caused significant improvement.

Based on the introduction of the basic ideas and related technologies of partial differential equations, as well as the method of path planning, the application of partial differential equations in solving urban path planning is studied. The path planning model of partial differential equations and the setting of obstacle boundary conditions are introduced, and adaptive. Theoretical research and experimental results show that it is feasible and effective to solve urban path planning by partial differential equations, which provides a new way for urban path planning research ideas and methods. This paper proposes an image detection algorithm based on diffusion equation. According to the logarithmic transformation, the multiplicative speckle noise in the image can be converted into additive noise. We first perform logarithmic transformation on the image and then use the denoising model of the diffusion equation to filter out the noise in the image and then use the logarithm to recognize the image. The difference image is obtained by the domain difference method, and finally, the difference image is classified by the clustering algorithm, and the change area is extracted. Experiments show that the algorithm can effectively reduce the effect of multiplicative speckle noise on the change detection results, improve the accuracy of change detection, and shorten the change detection time. This article takes the path planning problem of a two-dimensional space city as an example to discuss the application of partial differential equations. According to the principle of energy conservation, this paper uses the two-dimensional space radiant heat conduction equation as an example to model and illustrate the solution of the path planning problem.

Recently, the development of 3D graphics technology has led to various technologies being combined with reality, where a new reality is defined or studied; they are typically named by combining the name of the technology with “reality”. Representative “reality” includes Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality, and eXtended Reality (XR). In particular, research on XR in the web environment is actively being conducted. The Web eXtended Reality Device Application Programming Interface (WebXR Device API), released in 2018, allows instant deployment of XR services to any XR platform requiring only an active web browser. However, the currently released tentative version has poor stability. Therefore, in this study, the performance evaluation of WebXR Device API is performed using three experiments. A camera trajectory experiment is analyzed using ground truth, we checked the standard deviation between the ground truth and WebXR for the X, Y, and Z axes. The difference image experiment is conducted for the front, left, and right directions, which resulted in a visible difference image for each image of ground truth and WebXR, small mean absolute error, and high match rate. In the experiment for measuring the 3D rendering speed, a frame rate similar to that of real-time is obtained.
