Abstract Background This study was designed for the research and development (R&D) and application of a storage inflow and outflow management system enabling departments to perform efficient, scientific, and information-based consumable management. Methods In the endocrinology department of a hospital, expert and R&D teams in consumable management were set up, and an information-based storage inflow and outflow management system for consumables was designed and developed. The system was operated on a personal computer and was divided into three modules: public consumables, bed consumables, and quality control management. The functions of the system included storage inflow and outflow, early warnings, response to user queries, and statistics on consumables. Data were derived from the hospital information system (HIS,ZHIY SOFTWARE HIS VERSION4.0) and a questionnaire survey. Economic indicators, work efficiency of consumable management, nurse burnout, consumable stockroom management, and staff satisfaction were compared under manual management, Excel-based management, and the consumable storage inflow and outflow management system. The results of the questionnaire were analysed using the R software, version 4.1.0. Results Dates were obtained from manual management, Excel-based management and the consumable storage inflow and outflow management system. Under these three methods, the daily prices of department consumables per bed were 53.43 ± 10.27 yuan, 38.65 ± 8.56 yuan, and 31.98 ± 7.36 yuan, respectively, indicating that the new management system reduced costs for the department. The time spent daily on consumable management was shortened from 119.5 (106.75, 123.5) min to 56.5 (48.5, 60.75) to 20 (17.25, 24.25) min. Nurses’ emotional fatigue and job indifference scores, respectively, decreased from 22.90 ± 1.65 and 8.75 ± 1.25 under manual management to 19.70 ± 1.72 and 6.90 ± 1.37 under Excel-based management and to 17.20 ± 2.04 and 6.00 ± 1.30 under the novel system; the satisfaction of the warehouse keeper and collection staff, respectively, increased from 76.62% and 80.78% to 91.6% and 90.5% to 98.8% and 98.5% under the three successive systems. Conclusions The storage inflow and outflow management system achieved produced good results in the storage and classification of consumables.

Abstract Background The COVID-19 pandemic compounded political and financial pressures on the nursing workforce in Lebanon. The government resigned in October 2019 in response to the popular uprising that called for an end to corruption and economic mismanagement 5 months before the first COVID-19 case appeared in the country. The continuing crises and the added stress of COVID-19 has increased the risk of occupational burnout and turnover in the nursing workforce. Therefore, valid and reliable measurement is imperative to determine burnout levels, prioritize intervention, and inform evidence-based workforce policy and practice. The primary aim of the study was to delineate burnout levels and cut-points in a national sample of nurses to inform workforce policies and prioritize interventions. Methods Multidimensional and unidimensional Rasch analyses of burnout data collected from a national convenience sample of 457 hospital nurses 9–12 months after Lebanon’s political and economic collapse began. The data were collected in July–October 2020. Results Multidimensional Rasch analysis confirmed that the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory has three highly correlated unidimensional scales that measure personal burnout, work-related burnout, and client-related burnout. Except for a ceiling effect of ~ 2%, the three scales have excellent measurement properties. For each scale, Rasch rating scale analysis confirmed five statistically different nurse burnout levels. The mean personal burnout scores and work-related burnout scores (50.24, 51.11 respectively) were not higher than those reported in the international literature. However, the mean client-related burnout score of 50.3 was higher than reported for other countries. Compared with a baseline study conducted at the beginning of Lebanon’s political and economic crises, only client-related burnout scores were higher p. <.01. Conclusions The CBI scales are reliable and valid measures for monitoring nurse burnout in crises torn countries. Stakeholders can use the CBI scales to monitor nurse burnout and prioritize burnout interventions. Urgent action is needed to reduce levels of client-related burnout in Lebanon’s nursing workforce.

Purpose of Study: Though nursing burnout is a global problem, research on nurse burnout in Haiti is scarce. In a context of multiple personal, social, and environmental challenges, this study assessed burnout and associated factors among Haitian nurses. Design of Study: A multi-site cross-sectional study. Methods: A survey in French and Haitian Creole was conducted in five Haitian hospitals using forward and back translated scales measuring burnout (emotional exhaustion [EE], depersonalization [DP], personal accomplishment [PA]), self-efficacy, nursing work environment, resilience, and demographics. Findings: Haitian nurses ( N = 179) self-reported moderate EE ( M = 21, SD = 11.18), low DP ( Mdn = 2.0, range = 29), and high personal accomplishment ( Mdn = 41.0, range = 33). General self-efficacy ( M = 32.31, SD = 4.27) and resilience ( M = 26.68, SD = 5.86) were high. Dissatisfaction with salary, autonomy, and staffing were evident. Conclusions: It is noteworthy that burnout was lower than expected given the scarce resource, difficult socio-politico-economic environment. High levels of self-efficacy and resilience likely mitigated a higher level of burnout. Adaptation enables these nurses to manage their critical conditions and practice holistic nursing, which may inspire hope among nurses in similar contexts.

AbstractDuring the Covid-19 pandemic, nurses are at the forefront. Many nurses experience stress and fatigue due to increased workload. Stress and fatigue that is obtained at work, both physical and psychological fatigue, is known as Burnout. This study aimed to describe the incidence of Burnout experienced by nurses during the Covid 19 Pandemic. This research is a literature review. This study was looking for some articles from PubMed,Garuda, and Google Scholar, with keyword. There were 5 articles that matched the research inclusion criteria. Critical analysis of 5 articles used the JBI instrument. These articles used the mean calculation. In the Emotional Exhaustion category, the mean value was 22.75 and SD was 8.828. it meant that the burnout level in the Emotional Exhaustion category was at a moderate level. In the depersonalization category, the mean value was 7.54 with SD 4.248. it meant that the burnout level in the depersonalization category was at a moderate level. In the personal accomplishment category, the mean was 19.676 with SD of 6.7. it mean that the burnout level in this category was a high level. The nurses experience burnout during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Emotional exhaustion category is a moderate level, depersonalization is at a moderate level, and personal accomplishment is at a high level.Keywords: Nurse, Burnout, Covid-19 pandemic AbstrakDimasa pandemi Covid-19 perawat berada pada garda terdepan, banyak perawat mengalami stress dan kelelahan dikarenakan beban kerja meningkat. Hasil pencarian artikel dari database online yaitu Pubmed,Garuda dan Google Scholar, dengan kata kunci di dapatkan 5 artikel yang sesuai dengan kriteria inklusi penelitian. Analisa telaah kritis terhadap 5 artikel menggunakan instrument JBI. Terdapat 5 Artikel yang menggunakan perhitungan mean di dapatkan hasil kategori Emotional Exhaustion nilai mean sebanyak 22.75 dan SD 8.828 dimana hasil menunjukkan level burnout pada level sedang. Kategori depersonalization dengan nilai mean 7.54 dengan SD 4.248 dimana hasil burnout pada level sedang. Kategori personal accomplishment hasil mean 19.676 dengan SD 6.7 dimana hasil burnout menunjukkan level tinggi. Dari 5 Artikel yang di telaah di dapatkan Perawat mengalami Burnout selama pandemic Covid-19, kategori Emotional Exhaustion berada pada level sedang, depersonalization berada pada level sedang, dan personal accomplishment pada level tinggi.Kata Kunci : Perawat, Burnout, pandemi Covid-19

Background Critical care nurses have a burnout rate among the highest of any nursing field. Nurse burnout may impact care quality. Few studies have considered how temporal patterns may influence outcomes. Objective To test a longitudinal model of burnout clusters and associations with patient and clinician outcomes. Methods An observational study analyzed data from annual employee surveys and administrative data on patient outcomes at 111 Veterans Health Administration intensive care units from 2013 through 2017. Site-level burnout rates among critical care nurses were calculated from survey responses about emotional exhaustion and depersonalization. Latent trajectory analysis was applied to identify clusters of facilities with similar burnout patterns over 5 years. Regression analysis was used to analyze patient and employee outcomes by burnout cluster and organizational context measures. Outcomes of interest included patient outcomes (30-day standardized mortality rate and observed minus expected length of stay) for 2016 and 2017 and clinician outcomes (intention to leave and employee satisfaction) from 2013 through 2017. Results Longitudinal analysis revealed 3 burnout clusters among the 111 sites: low (n = 37), medium (n = 68), and high (n = 6) burnout. Compared with sites in the low-burnout cluster, those in the high-burnout cluster had longer patient stays, higher employee turnover intention, and lower employee satisfaction in bivariate models but not in multivariate models. Conclusions In this multiyear, multisite study, critical care nurse burnout was associated with key clinician and patient outcomes. Efforts to address burnout among nurses may improve patient and employee outcomes.
