While researchers have attempted to estimate the prevalence of and identify risk factors for sexual assault, less is understood about the relationship among populations at high risk for sexual assault and their perceptions of survivors’ services organizations and justice. The purpose of this investigation is to contribute to existing research through exploratory qualitative analyses of 43 undergraduate sorority women’s perceptions of survivors’ services and justice on a large, urban campus in the Pacific Northwest in the United States. Results of these exploratory analyses revealed that the sorority women had preferences for informal confidants and services whom they could trust concerning matters of sexual violence. The women also discussed that they would prefer confidential and mental health competent services for fear that disclosing sexual violence might draw public attention to them. On the same note, the women expressed a preference for justice that would prioritize their reputation and minimize stigmatization and highlighted how disclosure of sexual violence could impact their social, educational, and employment opportunities. Moreover, they described a fear of being blamed or not believed about sexual violence. Lastly, participants supported relatively punitive sanctions for perpetrators. Overall, participants cited many barriers to accessing formal support services, exposing the persistent justice gap that remains for this population. Findings suggest a need for outreach regarding campus services designed to address sexual violence.

This type of descriptive research using qualitative methods aims to describe and analyze the implementation of inclusive campus service management (planning, organizing, actuating, controlling) and service quality for students with disabilities at Universitas Brawijaya as an Inclusive Campus along with the supporting factors and obstacle factors of services. The results showed that the service management of the Inclusive Campus at PSLD UB has been running well, preparing competent human resources and caring for students with disabilities, implementing work programs that support services for students with disabilities (recruitment of volunteers, providing counseling and companion tutors), conducting socialization and disability awareness training for academicians, and actively providing studies on disability issues. Inclusive Campus Services in terms of quality dimensions of public services are implemented quite well; including reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and physical evidence of services. The several obstacles in the implementation of the services are; the availability of facilities and infrastructures based on the Universal Design, the weakness of planning and supervision process in the building development that are friendly for people with disabilities.

In recent years, with the rapid development of computers, the university educational administration system has also undergone reforms. Under the framework of big data and other frameworks, how to handle campus information conveniently and efficiently has become a major difficulty for developers. In response to the above problems, this paper proposes a campus network structure of an identity authentication system, and on this basis, also designs a solution for applying roaming services. It is hoped that this structure can be promoted and applied in the campus services of colleges and universities, and contribute to the information construction of colleges and universities.

Abstract. The smart campus is a sustainable and well-connected environment that aims to improve experience, efficiency and education. It uses a variety of interconnected components, smart applications and networked technologies to facilitate communication, make more efficient use of resources, improve performance, security and quality of campus services. However, as with many other smart environments, the smart campus is vulnerable to many security issues and threats that make it face many security-related challenges that limit its development. In our paper, we intend to provide an overview of smart campuses by highlighting the main applications and technologies used in this environment, presenting several vulnerabilities and susceptible attacks that affect data and information security in the smart campus. Moreover, we discuss the major challenges of smart campus and we conclude by overviewing some current security solutions to deal with campus security issues.

Issues raised by extended campus services librarians

Plamen Miltenoff

The advent of all types of eXtended Reality (XR)—VR, AR, MR—raises serious questions, both technological and pedagogical. The setup of campus services around XR is only the prelude to the more complex and expensive project of creating learning content using XR. In 2018, the authors started a limited proof-of-concept augmented reality (AR) project for a library tour. Building on their previous research and experience creating a virtual reality (VR) library tour, they sought a scalable introduction of XR services and content for the campus community. The AR library tour aimed to start us toward a matrix for similar services for the entire campus. They also explored the attitudes of students, faculty, and staff toward this new technology and its incorporation in education, as well as its potential and limitations toward the creation of a “smart” library.

As today's institutions work to increase enrollment, retention, and persistence, they must also decide how to invest limited institutional dollars and how to adapt to changing student expectations. This chapter provides insight into some of those changing student expectations in regards to the following areas: students as customer, expectations of campus services, campus safety and liability expectations, career expectations, classroom expectations, and the specific expectations of Generation Z students. Armed with this information, leaders in higher educational settings can challenge their institutions to think critically about where and how to invest existing resources. This introductory chapter provides a framework for further exploration into student expectations in regards to student engagement, diversity and inclusion, gaming and eSports, campus safety, and other critical issues in higher education.
