O de-orientalizacji „spojrzenia”. Sztuka wizualna jako przestrzeń debaty nad problematyką płci w regionie Mena

On the De-Orientation of the „Gaze". Visual Art as a Space for Gender Debate in the Mena Region Contesting the problematic perception of femininity within the Middle East and North Africa through the medium of art is not only a result of questioning the traditions of one’s own culture, but is strongly connected to the issue of the „imagery of the Orient” and the Western gaze, especially visible throughout the colonial era in the region. This text is an invitation to undertake a visual exercise with the artists, leading to a process of de-orientalising the symbolism of the body in art practices.

A História a partir da subalterna: Breve debate bibliográfico entre os Estudos Pós-Coloniais e de Gênero.

Diante de uma historiografia que parecia engessada em conceitos generalizadores, pesquisadoras de núcleos de estudos e disciplinas nas universidades, a partir de 1960, unem-se para responder a uma demanda das ruas: onde estão as mulheres na História e motivo pelo qual suas histórias não foram contadas. Juntamente com um movimento social, surge um movimento acadêmico de construir uma epistemologia para compreender estes sujeitos ausentes até aquele momento: os Estudos de Gênero. Muitos debates foram se constituindo neste campo, forçando uma oxigenação em outros. Os estudos pós-coloniais construídos para compreender as consequências sistemáticas da relação colonizado-colonizador contribui com o debate de gênero. Neste artigo farei um breve debate bibliográfico sobre esta abordagem interdisciplinar e interseccional para os Estudos de Gênero.Palavras-chave: Estudos de Gênero; Estudos pós-coloniais; Interseccionalidade. AbstractIn the face of a historiography that seemed to be plastered in generalizing concepts, researchers of study centers and disciplines in universities, from 1960 on, came together to respond to a demand from the streets: where the women are in history and why their stories were not told. Together with a social movement, an academic movement emerged to build an epistemology to understand these subjects absent until that moment: the Studies of Gender. Many debates have arisen in this field, forcing an oxygenation in others. Postcolonial studies built to understand the systematic consequences of the colonize-colonizer relationship contribute to the gender debate. In this paper I will make a brief bibliographic debate on this interdisciplinary and intersectional approach to Gender Studies.Keywords: Gender Studies; Postcolonial Studies; Intersectionality.

Gender debate as a challenge in nursing training

ABSTRACT Objectives: to understand the challenges of introducing gender debate in nursing training from undergraduate students’ perspective. Methods: a qualitative, exploratory-explanatory study. Data were collected through a semi-structured interview applied to 12 undergraduate nursing students at a public university in São Paulo. For data treatment and analysis, the Discourse of the Collective Subject was used in light of Boaventura de Sousa Santos’ knowledge production paradigm theoretical framework. Results: nursing education remains centered on the traditional scientific model, neglecting gender and strengthening stereotypes aimed at the feminization of the profession. Final Considerations: nursing training has a challenge of implementing actions that deepen the gender theme. Therefore, some strategies are suggested, such as improving professor training and appropriating emancipatory pedagogical practices; reviewing pedagogical political projects; curriculum theorization and restructuring; problematizing gender issues for nursing leadership.

Sex and Gender and Sex

This article challenges some of the prevailing notions pertaining to non-binary sex and fluid gender in modern academia. Beginning with a look at the history of the sex vs. gender debate, it turns to the study of genetics to determine how binary sex is, overturning many current beliefs about the biological bases of multiple sexes. It then considers four case studies of so-called fluid gender in world history—Mesopotamian women as men, Albanian virgjinéshē, and Indian devadāsīs and sādhini—which show that these apparently “male women” never lose their feminine gender in spite of provisional male prerogatives. In all cases, it is their sexuality that ties them to their gender. The article ends with a consideration of how unreflective adoption of non-binary sex and fluid gender undermines the goals of feminism.

Gênero e Teologia: da polêmica estéril ao debate teológico

Os estudos de gênero têm solicitado muito debate nos meios acadêmicos, educacionais e também religiosos. A teologia, por sua vez, não pode ficar indiferente a estas discussões. O presente artigo parte da convicção de que a teologia deve levar a sério as interpelações suscitadas por estes estudos. Mas para isso, ela deve ser capaz de ir além da identificação da categoria de gênero com o uso ideológico do mesmo. Estudos de gênero e ideologia de gênero não são a mesma coisa. Fazer essa distinção se mostra fundamental a fim de que elementos importantes desses estudos não sejam ignorados uma vez que, no fundo, a discussão sobre gênero diz respeito ao ser humano, a sua identidade; em última instância, estamos diante de uma questão antropológica que desafia o saber teológico.Palavras-chave: Gênero. Ideologia de gênero. Teologia.Abstract: Gender studies have evoked plenty of debate in the academic, educational and also in the religious world. Theology, for its part, cannot remain indifferent to these discussions. The present article arises from the conviction that theology must deal, in a serious manner, with the questions that arise from such studies. However, to do so, theology needs to go beyond a mere categorical identification of gender to its use as an ideology. Gender studies and gender ideology are not one and the same matter. It is of fundamental importance to make this distinction so that prime aspects of the studies are not forgotten, considering that the gender debate, in the final analysis, is about the identity of the human being and so theology is confronted by an anthropological question.Keywords: Gender. BELA, RECATADA E “DO LAR”: UMA ANÁLISE DO DISCURSO DA MATÉRIA QUE PAUTOU O DEBATE DE GÊNERO NAS REDES SOCIAIS // BEAUTIFUL, MODEST AND “HOUSEWIFE”: A DISCOURSE ANALISYS OF THE NEWS REPORT THAT GUIDED THE GENDER DEBATE IN SOCIAL MEDIA

O presente artigo parte de uma revisão bibliográfica que discute o gênero como construto cultural e sua performatividade modulada pelo discurso. Baseando-nos nessa premissa, propomos a Análise do Discurso de uma reportagem publicada pela Revista Veja online, intitulada Bela, recatada e “do lar” em abril de 2016, com o objetivo de compreender o conteúdo do discurso e seu ethos, assim como verificar, em alguma medida, seu contexto. Acerca dos resultados obtidos, especificamente a partir dos itens lexicais e técnicas de argumentação, identificamos um modelo de representação da mulher regido pela heteronormatividade compulsória e pelo patriarcalismo, assim como percebemos papéis sociais díspares no que se refere ao gênero masculino e feminino. A posição do enunciador no que concerne ao contexto político também faz parte do discurso. Como repercussão, observamos uma avalanche de outros discursos, grande parte de resistência ao modelo de representação ali retratado, mas também conservadores, os quais dão forma a discursos plurais imersos aos sistemas simbólicos midiáticos, pautando o debate de gênero, especialmente nos espaços virtuais.
