Four fractal nonlinear oscillators (The fractal Duffing oscillator, fractal attachment oscillator, fractal Toda oscillator, and a fractal nonlinear oscillator) are successfully established by He’s fractal derivative in a fractal space, and their variational principles are obtained by semi-inverse transform method. The approximate frequency of the four fractal oscillators are found by a simple frequency formula. The results show the frequency formula is a powerful and simple tool to a class of fractal oscillators.

Insurance companies and pension funds have liabilities far into the future and typically well beyond the longest maturity bonds trading in fixed-income markets. Such long-lived liabilities still need to be discounted, and yield curve extrapolations based on the information in observed yields can be used. We use dynamic Nelson-Siegel (DNS) yield curve models to extrapolate risk-free yield curves for Switzerland and several countries. We find slight biases in extrapolated long bond yields of just a few basis points. In addition, the DNS model allows the generation of useful financial risk metrics, such as ranges of possible yield outcomes over projection horizons commonly used for stress-testing purposes. Therefore, we recommend using DNS models as a simple tool for generating extrapolated yields for long-term interest rate risk management. This paper was accepted by Kay Giesecke, finance.

Frailty syndrome (FS) has recently attracted attention as one of the major predictors of heart failure (HF) course severity. We aimed to develop a simple tool for predicting frailty in hospitalized HF patients using routine clinical parameters. A total of 153 hospitalized patients diagnosed with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) were included in the study. Presence of FS was assessed with the SHARE-FI questionnaire. Clinical and biochemical parameters were collected. Using ROC curves and logistic regression analysis, a model predicting FS presence was developed and tested. Proposed model includes five variables with following cut-off values (1 point for each variable): age > 50 years, systolic pressure on admission < 110 mmHg, total cholesterol < 4.85 mmol/L, bilirubin ≥ 15.5 mmol/L, and alanine aminotransferase ≤ 34 U/L. Receiving 5 points was considered a high risk of FS with positive and negative predictive values (NPV), 83% and 72%, respectively, and specificity of 97%. Awarding 2 points or less ruled out FS in the studied group with negative predictive value 94%. The presented novel, simple score predicts FS in HFrEF patients with routine clinical parameters and has good positive and negative predictive values.

Soil resistivity is an important parameter for designing electrical earthing system. The measurement of soil resistivity is greatly influenced by moisture content, temperature, porosity, degree of saturation, number of soil layer(s), and frequency of lightning current. Researchers have proposed various methodologies to provide an approximation of soil resistivity using the listed parameters. In order to ease the process of estimating soil resistivity at a particular area, there is a pressing need to devise a simple tool that enables the calculation of soil resistivity in the most accurate manner. As such, this research proposes a reliable tool for quick evaluation of soil resistivity based on various methodologies using Microsoft Excel’s built-in-functions and Visual Basic Application (VBA) Next, the developed tool was validated using two methods, in which the output value of the calculator was compared with data retrieved from IEEE Std 142-2007 and data reported in past studies. The validation results revealed that the developed calculator may serve as a significant application in future due to its time-saving and cost-effective attributes.

Shock represents a state when arterial perfusion is inadequate to supply the needs of cellular respiration, leading to anerobic metabolism, acidosis, and cell death. Although typically described in terms of blood pressure and heart rate, these measures can both lead to delayed recognition of shock and under appreciation of the severity of end-organ malperfusion. Recently, there has been increased interest in monitoring peripheral perfusion both to detect early shock and monitor the response to treatment. However, current methods are variable and, in some cases, require specialized equipment. We present a case in which duplex ultrasound assessment of peripheral palmar acceleration time identified a post-hemorrhagic shock state before it was clinically apparent. Bedside arterial duplex and hand acceleration time may provide a simple tool to assess the degree of shock and response to intervention.

Introduction: Cephalo-pelvic-disproportion (CPD) is one of the most common obstetric complications. Since CPD is the disproportion between the fetal head and maternal bony pelvis, evaluation of the head-circumference (HC) relative to maternal bony pelvis may be a useful adjunct to pre-labor CPD evaluation. The aim of the present study was a proof-of-concept evaluation of the ratio between HC to pelvic circumference (PC) as a predictor of CPD. Methods: Of 11,822 deliveries, 104 cases that underwent an abdomino-pelvic CT for any medical indication and who underwent normal vaginal deliveries (NVD) (n=84) or cesarean deliveries (CD) due to CPD (n=20) were included retrospectively. Maternal pelvis dimensions were reconstructed and neonatal HC, as a proxy for fetal HC, were measured. The correlation between cases of CPD and Cephalo-Pelvic Circumference Index (CPCI), which represents the ratio between the HC and PC in percent (HC/PC *100) was evaluated. Results: The mid-pelvis cephalo-pelvic circumference index (MP-CPCI) was larger in CD groups as compared to the NVD group: 103±11 vs. 97±8% respectively (p=0.0003). In logistic regression analysis, the MP-CPCI was found to be independently associated with CD due to CPD: each 1% increase in MP-CPCI increased the likelihood of CD for CPD by 11% (aOR 1.11, CI 95% 1.03-1.19, p=0.004). The adjusted odds ratio for CD due to CPD increased incrementally as the MP-CPCI increased, from 3.56 (95%CI, 1.01-12.6) at MP-CPCI of 100, to 5.6 (95%CI, 1.63-19.45) at 105, 21.44 (95%CI, 3.05-150.84) at 110, and 28.88 (95%CI, 2.3-362.27) at MP-CPCI of 115 Conclusions: The MP-CPCI, representing the relative dimensions of the fetal HC and maternal PC, is a simple tool that can potentially distinguish between parturients at lower and higher risk of CPD. Prospective randomized studies are required to evaluate the feasibility of prenatal pelvimetry and MP-CPCI to predict the risk of CPD during labor.

Kata Kunci: Kemasan, Madu, Lebah, Budidaya  ABSTRACT The cultivation of honey bees is mostly carried out in the buffer zones. The Trigona Batu Katak Cultivation Group, which is run by Mr. Kelengi Sitepu, is a seller as well as a breeder in Batu Katak hamlet, Batu Jong-Jong Village. Mr. Kelengi Sitepu produces his superior honey, namely Trigona Batu Katak. This honey processing process begins when the honey bees are ready to harvest. Then the honey juice is squeezed using a simple tool, and it is put into a jerry can for packaging. The process of squeezing the honey packaging is done at home manually. The constraints that serve honey entrepreneurs are the simple packaging, not using attractive labels and bottles, making it difficult to get through to the collection. Based on the partners' problems mentioned above, we will provide a solution with the implementation method, namely assistance and application of packaging and packaging labels. The results achieved after the implementation of this activity were being able to make honey bottle packaging more attractive so that it had competitiveness in the market, one of which was during the COVID 19 pandemic, the Mount National Park Office had ordered and consumed Trigona Batu Katak Honey. Keywords: Packaging, Honey, Bees, Cultivation
