English has become the world language, which on the one side is a blessing for international communication. On the other side, its dominance tends to make large parts of the world rely on only one language for academic work. This impoverishes the conceptual, expressive and epistemological richness available in all the other languages and makes believe that a translation can bring every concept from one language to another. My aim here is to discuss one concrete problem with a missing concept in English; dance and music as a unity. I will test epistemological arguments; why should we keep dance and music apart and why should we unite them under a new term. I then ask why we do not see concepts from other languages as a resource to improve academic terminology in English and other European languages.

Abstract The novelty of this research is to prove that the church has not been able to encourage and motivate the growth of entrepreneurship to improve the economy of indigenous peoples in Papua. This research was conducted in-depth using descriptive qualitative methods. The location of the research was carried out in Papua with in-depth interviews, observation, and secondary data techniques. The results of the study indicate that the efforts of the Indonesian Christian Church in Papua in improving the economy of indigenous peoples are still minimal, both at the synod, classic and congregational levels. The church is currently also experiencing quite heavy challenges internally and externally, especially with the global Covid-19 pandemic situation which severely limits the movement of people in their activities. In some areas in Papua, there are still problems with the internet network which makes communication even more difficult. To improve the economy of indigenous peoples, an appropriate customary empowerment strategy is needed and strategic steps are needed, namely an open heart-to-heart dialogue by all church components internally at various levels. A concrete problem mapping is required, with a scale of priorities and the ability to implement strategic indigenous economic development programs and supported by appropriate assistance according to the regional or customary context. Along with that, the church must prepare competent human resources in their fields for the benefit of long-term economic development.

Abstract The novelty of this research is to prove that the community has been unable to encourage and motivate entrepreneurship growth to improve the economy of indigenous peoples in Papua. This research was carried out in-depth in Papua using descriptive qualitative methods using extensive interviews, observations, and secondary data techniques. The results of the study show that the efforts of the Indonesian Christian Church in Papua to improve the economy of indigenous peoples at both synods, classical, and community levels are still small. The community is currently facing challenges internally and externally. You are grappling with the global Covid-19 pandemic situation. Internet problems still exist in many areas of Papua, making communication even more difficult. To improve the economy of the indigenous peoples, the community tries to implement a common empowerment strategy and strategic steps, namely an open heart-to-heart dialogue between all church components internally at different levels. What is required is a concrete problem mapping with a priority scale and the ability to implement strategic indigenous economic development programs, and supported by appropriate support according to the regional or usual context. At the same time, the community must prepare competent human resources in its areas for long-term economic development.

The aim of the article is to posit the question whether, or under what conditions ‘instrumentalism’ can be seen as a viable target of the philosophical critique of education. Firstly, I will briefly review and compare three critical conceptions in modern philosophy that interpreted Western civilization as a form of instrumentalism, yet, at the same time, used the concept perhaps too sweepingly: Adorno and Horkheimer (instrumental reason), Heidegger (calculative thinking) and Arendt (means-ends logic in politics). Secondly, I will discuss the exact sweeping moment in those thinkers’ ways of pursuing their critiques of instrumentalism and the way it can, in fact, weaken the pedagogical impact of their analyses. We face a paradox here: if we consistently follow Heidegger and Adorno (Arendt as well, but the situation looks much better with her, as usual), we are prone to ignore the actual perils for freedom in, for example, subsuming education to the global market economy, because it appears to be only a contingent or occasional (ontic) phenomenon that has its ontological roots as early as Homer or Plato. Conversely, if we ignore their analyses, we endanger our critique with inevitable shallowness, i.e. with a tendency to moan about the obvious circumstances without a real understanding of their ontological, historical and cultural backgrounds. This paradox can be translated as a general paradox of the relationship between philosophy and education. To conclude, I will illustrate this by referring to the leading question of this volume: ‘what (is education) for?’, or, to put it differently, to the problem of the purpose of education. If we assume that within the problem itself instrumentalism is inscribed (as all the three philosophers would), we still face the pedagogical and concrete problem of discerning different types of instrumentality. This problem corresponds with the various ways we describe our educational aims and goals.

Abstract Departing from a close reading of a particular performance to examplify localisation processes of the global Reality TV talent show format, this paper offers an analysis of the relationship between talent shows and patronage. Based on a concrete music and dance performance analysis, it further contributes to the more general discussion of transnational format trade and format adaptation by putting a focus on the entanglement of patronage, intervention and transformation. The analysis of the performance in question addresses how the musicians and dancers approached a concrete problem by creating a sense of belonging, involvement and disorientation through aesthetic means. With their critical stance, they position themselves in a specific local performing arts tradition, which itself is connected to earlier theatre and TV talent contests. Referring to the concept of glocalisation, I suggest that local topics of critique and intervention are part of the localising effect of the Reality TV talent show format.

Intelligent computing techniques have a paramount importance to the treatment of cybersecurity incidents. In such Artificial Intelligence (AI) context, while most of the algorithms explored in the cybersecurity domain aim to present solutions to intrusion detection problems, these algorithms seldom approach the correction procedures that are explored in the resolution of cybersecurity incident problems that already took place. In practice, knowledge regarding cybersecurity resolution data and procedures is being under-used in the development of intelligent cybersecurity systems, sometimes even lost and not used at all. In this context, this work proposes the Case-based Cybersecurity Incident Resolution System (CCIRS), a system that implements an approach to integrate case-based reasoning (CBR) techniques and the IODEF standard in order to retain concrete problem-solving experiences of cybersecurity incident resolution to be reused in the resolution of new incidents. Different types of experimental results so far obtained with the CCIRS show that information security knowledge can be retained with our approach in a reusable memory improving the resolution of new cybersecurity problems.

This chapter first analyses Meillassoux’s critique, in After Finitude, of subject-object correlation and phenomenology. It then traces connections between passivity, radical reflection, and indirect ontology in Merleau-Ponty, to show how Meillassoux, contra Merleau-Ponty, takes the activity of thinking for granted and neglects passivity, in ways that lead to ontological confusions and assumptions about being's determinate character. The latter troubles Meillassoux’s ancestrality problem and leads him to overlook a radically contingent being indicated within correlation itself. The final section clarifies and supports this claim via physics, specifically the measurement problem in quantum mechanics—a concrete problem that Meillassoux does not discuss when he broadly invokes mathematics and science to support his position.

Discuss this article logistics operation possibilities made possible from the needs and ideas sponsored by a company that sells hearing aids in a large city paulista inside: Campinas. It turns out that, to address the serious logistical problems of distribution of hearing aids in this city, the organization needed to innovate in the field of distribution of its products. Contextualizes that logistics is often intuitive, which, in practice, usually leads the manager to the study of the subject, always deserving of ratification and permanent study. The objective was to review central logistics issues, specifically aiming to expose how the discipline actually helped a particular organization to solve the concrete problem of distribution of its products. The methodological course is reviewed by literature and case study, justifying the research for its high practical value. The results obtained indicate the validity of the solution adopted by a certain company, this constant to go as far as the customer was through specialized vendors, presenting the measure the recovery and a significant increase in the clientele of the company studied.
