The purpose of this chapter is to argue that higher education institutions (HEIs) in doing quality assurance (QA) must focus on the critical aspects of quality assurance, the need to look at the advantages, disadvantages, and challenges facing HEIs regarding quality assurance. It is assumed that institutions should carry out quality assurance and accreditation processes for stakeholders to have confidence in them. It also explains in detail what quality assurance and accreditation must entail in higher education institutions (HEIs). The need to maintain high-quality education standards becomes a critical requirement for HEIs to remain competitive in the education sector market. This chapter follows a qualitative approach in exploring quality assurance and accreditation in HEIs. Data will be collected through literature review. Quality assurance and accreditation in HEIs must aim to maintain and raise the quality of education and to guarantee the improvement of its standards.

Graduating is not only about taking compulsory education, but also fulfilling the qualifications of graduates' abilities which include attitudes, knowledge, and skills. This is in accordance with the provisions of the education system contained in Government Regulation 32 of 2013. The lack of understanding of graduate quality standards is due to minimal socialization carried out by the government and related institutions. Therefore, this community service is important in order to provide knowledge to the society, so that it can further increase its participation to help in realizing high-quality education. The implementation model is carried out through the partnership method, by involving the government of Pematang Johar Village in several stages, namely: 1) pretest; 2) socialization; and 3) posttest to measure the success rate of the program. The results show that there is an increase in knowledge for the society about the quality of graduates in accordance with national education standards and there is a better awareness that society participation is needed to help realize high-quality education.

Conversation and Teaching at the Contemporary University This paper examines the contemporary condition of teaching at universities. It argues that university is endangered by losing its identity. The difference between school and university is introduced as a representative example of the problem. The main argument refers to the Gadamerian concept of conversation and it suggests that high quality education is dialogical in its tenor. Unfortunately, tertiary educational quite often differs in practice from what we understand in current European pedagogy as an educational experience. In the first part of this paper, the question on the pedagogical potential of conversation is raised. The second and third parts provide a description of university as a place where education as a dialogical experience still prevails, particularly in lecturing as a form of teaching.

The current study aims to analyze modern problematicity of the essence and significance of the benchmarking method in strategic planning in higher education institutions within Ukraine and world societies; to consider benchmarking as a systematic process of searching for the best pedagogical or educational practices; to implement innovative solutions, highly efficient educational procedures leading to higher productivity. For this purpose, history of benchmarking, its types and stages of implementation, as well as its advantages and disadvantages have been reviewed, and the subjects to which the benchmarking technique can be applied in educational organizations has been examined. It has highlighted that competition between business entities in education sector requires universities’ constant improvement of their activities in all areas. The world’s leading universities, associated with high quality education and research and traditionally top international rankings, are forced not to lose their high competitive position, but maintain their achievements and performance, and work ahead of the curve. The study states that the use of the benchmarking method in the competitive management mechanism at higher education institutions allows introducing the best experience, standards and working methods in providing education services, improving quality and efficiency, managing the professional development of academic staff, forming the new education concept, and assessing the leadership professionalism, but at the same time it has limitations.

Smart education is considered an inevitable choice and an important educational trend development in the Information Age. Smart education development can promote learning opportunities to master high-quality education and lifelong learning. It vigorously promotes sustainable development. A bibliometric analysis was performed to better understand smart education research field knowledge structures and help researchers understand smart education research field characteristics. VOSviewer and CiteSpace were used to analyze 2358 Web of Science core collection articles related to smart education. The articles were dated 2000–2021. This study visually presents a systematic overview of smart education literature research, including the publication outputs, main categories, most influential countries, organizations, journals, and authors, important documents, and research academic trends. Using a series of cooperation analyses, this paper looked at research cooperation among countries and regions, organizations, and authors to build a smart education knowledge structure map. A smart education theoretical framework was proposed based on the literature review. A bibliometric analysis of the existing research results provided useful and innovative suggestions for researchers and practitioners in the field of smart education.

In realizing accessibility and equalizing of high-quality education and relevant to community interests for progress, independence, and prosperity. The government is obliged to increase access and learning opportunities at universities and to prepare intelligent and competitive Indonesian people. There is no term “poor children are being banned fromschool or college” in this country. Those who are less able and have achievements, must continue to advance to higher education through the Indonesian Smart College Card or KIP- College from the Government. This research is to create a decision support technique in determining KIP-College recipients using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method so that it is right on target. Besides that, it is also to assist operators in determining KIP-College recipients, especially in processing and selecting data for parents who are truly from underprivileged economic classes.

Leadership and management in schools have sought to produce high quality education for all pupils. To inform and support school leaders’ educationalists have developed theories and undertaken research studies identifying the relationships, contexts and characteristics that enable effective leadership. However, recent times of turbulence in primary schools have had an inevitable impact upon the key drivers for successful leadership and management. This study builds upon our previous research into outstanding leadership in primary education to examine the impact that such change has had upon the leadership of serving head teachers. It utilises an adapted Q-sort methodology to identify the views of serving head teachers to gain insights into the impact that such change has had upon their leadership. Overall, the analysis identified a need for aspirational characteristics of leadership, underpinned by personal values to guide schools in such times, as they strive to produce high quality education.

For teachers of immigrant-origin students and their peers, emerging research notes the challenge of facilitating a high-quality education for students subject to traumatic events related to harsh immigration enforcement policies. This study examines whether new teachers from seven teacher preparation programs experienced the impacts of immigration enforcement and felt prepared to support students who were impacted. I surveyed new teachers in preservice and after 1 year of teaching ( N = 473) using survey instruments developed by Cohen and colleagues along with additional constructs developed via pilot testing. New teachers reported that immigration enforcement negatively impacted their students and their job satisfaction. Teachers exposed to discussion of immigration policy and teachers who reported engaging with immigrant families in preservice were more likely to view themselves as prepared to support students. I discuss differences for teachers in urban, Title I, and elementary settings.

A promising practice for educating anti-trafficking stakeholders in healthcare emerged through an innovative train-the-trainer programme from a National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioner’s initiative called the Alliance for Children in Trafficking (ACT). The purpose of this training is to provide effective, high-quality education development with wide dissemination and reach. The obstacles to in-person education due to COVID-19 resulted in a pivot to a virtual platform to continue the ACT Advocate programme. This paper considers the engagement of the nursing profession in operationalising the ACT Advocate programme as a way to lead advocacy and education efforts, using a public health approach, for effective responses to child trafficking.
