The article discusses the analysis of the stress-strain state of the split ring of the locking mechanism of the pump and compressor pipe suspension in the unpressed position by analytical and numerical methods. In the analysis by numerical method, the rationale for using an elastic-plastic model of the material is given and the structural strength is estimated.

Colonic perforation and pneumoperitoneum are the most commonly seen complications in cases of air entry into rectum at a high velocity in a short duration of time. Here we present a case of 24-year-old male who was brought to our emergency department with severe abdominal pain and distension for 2 hours. History suggestive of prank that went wrong, when somebody pumped high-pressure air from an air compressor into his anus while he was changing his clothes. The physical examination and investigations were suggestive of free gas in peritoneal cavity and the patient was taken for emergency exploratory laparotomy. On exploration, gaseous distention of whole colon was observed with serosal tear all along the colon with fresh bleeding. A rent of 1x1 cm seen in middle of transverse colon. The defect was closed primarily and a diverting loop ileostomy was made. Several number of cases of Air compressor abuse has been reported in literature as it is one of the non-iatrogenic cause of barotrauma to colon. It is usually seen when friends play prank on each other.

Excessive pipe vibration brings a series of serious problems, especially for hyper compressors used by LDPE production. Therefore, the pipeline vibration issues should be handled with care as the process gas reaches pressures up to 350 MPa (50,000 psi). This paper focuses on how to analyze the hyper compressor pipe vibration during operation and maintenance. Taking the outlet pipe vibration of an ultra-high pressure ethylene compressor for example, firstly the vibration level was assessed by the site measurement and signal processing. Then the acoustical analysis was executed based on the plane wave theory and the finite element theory. After that, the modal analysis of pipelines was made with the finite element method. Finally the analyses of all the obtained results made it possible to identify the true reason for pipeline vibration — gas pulsation with large amplitude instead of gas column resonance and structure resonance. Based on the integrated analyses of the results, the retrofit measures were proposed and verified.

Following the adequate model of the reciprocating compressor piping system and the compressor design parameters, operating conditions and gas parameters, the mechanical system of compressor piping, gas-column system, pressure pulsations and of vibration response are numerically simulated. And the main factor bringing to the compressor piping system vibration is identified. A reasonable way to controlling piping vibration is developed to achieve a better efficiency. Keywords: Compressor; Pipe vibration; Vibration Analysis; numerical simulation.
