The article presents materials on the isolation of ecdysterone substance from medicinal plant raw materials Silene wolgensis (Hornem.) Bess. ex. Spreng (Volga smolyovka). For the first time, the optimization of the method for ecdysterone substance obtaining from the aboveground part of the superconcentrator of phytoecdysteroids of the Silene wolgensis was carried out and based on it a pilot industrial regulation for the isolation of ecdysterone and an encapsulated water-soluble form were developed. It was found, that the interaction of the substrate molecule and the clathrate forms a substance that can dissolve in water and other more polar solvents, thereby solving the problem of bioavailability of the main hydrophobic drug. The method developed for producing the substance ecdysterone and its water-soluble encapsulated with β-cyclodextrin form was implemented into production at the Karaganda pharmaceutical plant. NMR studies of changes in the chemical shifts of protons of substrates and receptors illustrated that ecdysterone interacts with β-cyclodextrin to form supramolecular inclusion complexes with stoichiometric composition of 1:1

Toxic and difficult to biodegrade pharmaceutical wastewater is complex in composition with high concentrations of organic debris and microorganisms. There may still exit quantities of suspended particles and dissolved organic materials even after further treatment. Advanced treatment is required to improve the quality of pharmaceutical wastewater discharge. In this study, the pharmaceutical technology categorization has been established, and the features of pharmaceutical wastewater effluent quality have been summarized. On the other hand, The methods of advanced treatment of pharmaceutical wastewater have been incorporate, including coagulation and sedimentation, flotation, activated carbon adsorption, membrane separation, advanced oxidation processes, membrane separation, and biological treatment. In the meanwhile, each process's features were specified.

Abstract Background: Psoriasis is a common chronic inflammatory skin disorder, which has adverse effects on patients’ quality of life. Natural products exhibit significant therapeutic capacities with small side effects and might be preferable alternative treatments for patients with psoriasis. Aim of the review: This study summarizes the clinical efficacy of natural products and signaling pathways with the potential targets for psoriasis treatment. Methods: The literature for this article was acquired from PubMed and Web of Science, from Jan 2010 to Dec 2020. The keywords for searching included “psoriasis” and “natural product”, “herbal medicine”, “herbal therapy”, “medicinal plant”, “medicinal herb”, or “pharmaceutical plant”. Results: The anti-psoriatic effect of natural products in clinical studies was summarized. Herbal extracts, natural compounds, and herbal prescriptions could regulate the signaling pathways to alleviate psoriasis symptoms, such as Th17 differentiation, JAK/STAT, NF-κB, MAPK, PI3K/Akt/mTOR, and other signaling pathways, which are involved in the inflammatory response and keratinocyte hyperproliferation. Conclusion: Natural products exerted the anti-psoriatic effect by targeting multiple signaling pathways, providing evidence for the investigation of novel drugs. Further experimental research should be performed to screen and characterize the therapeutic targets of natural products for application in psoriasis treatment.

PurposeIncreasing the system reliability is one of the most important concerns in an industrial plant to become competitive. However, focusing on the overall system reliability increases the overall design cost. The problem is investigated as a multiobjective optimization problem.Design/methodology/approachIt implements the Multiobjective Plant Propagation Algorithm (PPA), also known as the Strawberry Algorithm for the system reliability-redundancy allocation problem.FindingsThe Pareto set of a pharmaceutical plant involving ten subsystems connected in series is generated in order to highlight the applicability of the algorithm.Research limitations/implicationsLimitations include the study of two objective functions.Practical implicationsIt allows the decision-maker to select the best solution according to his target.Originality/valueThis work represents the first implementation of the multiobjective PPA for solving the multiobjective system reliability optimization in the literature.
