The research purposes are analyzing food availability, food procurement diversity, and analyzing target formulation, procurement necessity, and food production in Malang in 2016 - 2019. The analysis used is Food Balance Sheet (FBS) and Food Desirable Dietary Pattern (FDDP). The analysis result shows that the food availability in Malang is dominated by plant food source with 81,75 % of percentages. The total of energy availability value is 2.227 kcal/kap/day and protein 63,77 gram/kap/day. The quality of food availability measured with FDDP is 89,33 which shows that food diversity is not maximal yet. Overall, the food availability energy in Malang has not fulfilled Recommended Dietary Energy (RDE) standard and the protein is more than Recommended Dietary Protein (RDP), in which RDE ideal is 2.400 kcal/kap/day and RDP is 63 gram/kap/day. RDE and RDP of ideal food availability can be reached by increasing and decreasing food commodity group gradually from 2016 to 2019. The food commodity groups that need to be increased are such as; cereals, pulse nut and oil seeds, animal food, vegetable, and fruit. While the commodity groups that need to be decreased are such as starchy food, nut, oil and fat, animal food, and sugar.

This study aims to (1) analyze the availability of food in the city of Medan (2) the availability of nutrients (energy, protein, and fat) compared to the Nutritional Adequacy Rate (RDA) (3) the diversity of food availability in the city of Medan. The research data were obtained from primary data and secondary data. The analytical method used is descriptive method using the Food Balance Sheet (FBS). The results showed that the availability of food in Medan City in 2020 was in the available category of 1,350.25 grams/capita/day or 489.93 kg/capita/year. The availability of nutrients (energy, protein, and fat) of food in Medan City has exceeded the recommended nutritional adequacy rate and is classified in the available category. The diversity of food availability in the city of Medan is quite diverse.

We analyzed the temporal trends and significant changes in apparent energy and macronutrient intakes in the Bangladeshi diet from 1961 to 2017. Due to the lack of a long-running national dietary intake dataset, this study used the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)’s old and new food balance sheet dataset. We used the joinpoint regression model and jump model to analyze the temporal trends in apparent energy and macronutrient intakes. The annual percentage change (APC) was computed for each segment of the trends. Bangladesh has experienced a late energy revolution in their dietary history. During the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, Bangladesh was suffering from substantive calorie deficits, where in apparent energy intake was less than 2200 kcal/day/person. Since the late 1990s, Bangladesh has made significant progress in raising the apparent energy consumption in the diet. Since the late 1970s, apparent fat intake started to increase significantly at a marked rate (APC = 2.16), whereas since the early 1990s, protein intake increased significantly by 1.33% per year. Plant sources have mostly governed the protein and fat intake trends in the Bangladeshi diet since 1960, whereas animal sources began to contribute significantly in protein intake since 1990 (APC = 3.43) and in fat intake since 2000 (APC = 2.88). Bangladesh overcame the substantive calorie deficit condition in the diet from the late 1990s. Excessive carbohydrate intake along with imbalanced and low-quality protein and fat intakes have been the central features in the diet in Bangladesh.

Based on the Food Balance Sheet for Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY) in the period of 2006-2015, the condition of food availability was sufficient, but there were still some villages that suffered food insecurity and malnutrition. This study aims to determine the factors that influence adequacy the energy of household food consumption in rural DIY. The population of this study was 1,160 households from secondary data from the 2015 Susenas in DIY. The research sample were 571 households, taken by purposive sampling with criteria in one household there was a husband and wife. Data was taken by questionnaire. The design of this study was cross sectional. Data was analyzed by applying Ordinary Least Square (OLS). The average adequacy of household energy attained about 90,85%. There was a significantly positive influence of maternal age, income, raskin recipient households, employment on household energy sufficiency and otherwise the household members and poor category household on household energy sufficiency.

This paper presents the changes in food supply in selected EU Member states and average EU+ after the establishment of the European Platform for Action in the field of Diet, Physical Activity and Health in 2005. The per capita annual supply of vegetables, fruits, pulses, sugar & sweeteners and the daily values of calories and fat are analysed based on FAO Food Balance Sheet (FBS) data. The supply of vegetables in the EU has decreased since 2005 while that of fruits, pulses and sugar & sweeteners, as well as energy and fat have not changed significantly. The 313 voluntary commitments of Platform members, aimed at promoting healthier food choices and life styles in the region do not seem to have had a significant impact on food supply at population level. Firmer policy measures, incl. fiscal regulations are needed to support these voluntary actions. Sustainability issues should be included in the health-oriented initiatives as food choices contribute not only to the health of individuals but also of the environment as a whole.
