Abstract The use of propagation-invariant Airy beams enables a light-sheet microscopy with a large field-of-view. Without relying upon two-photon excitation or deconvolution-based processing to eliminate out-of focus blur caused by the side lobes, here, we present how the subtraction method is applied to enhance the image quality in digital scanned light-sheet microscopy with Airy beam. In the proposed method, planar Airy beam with the symmetric transversal structure is used to excite the sample. A hollow Airy beam with zero intensity at the focal plane is created, which is mainly used to excite the out-of-focus signal. By scanning the sample twice with the normal planar Airy beam and the hollow Airy beam, digital post-processing of the obtained images by subtraction allows for the rejection of out-of-focus blur and improves the optical sectioning, the axial resolution and the intensity distribution uniformity of the light-sheet microscopy.

Current wind tunnels possess a large space volume and high manufacturing cost, which are not suitable for investigating micro energy harvesters. This paper aims to design and fabricate a small, portable and low-speed wind tunnel for energy harvesting. A wind tunnel structure was first designed, a finite element analyses is then utilized to obtain the airflow velocity and turbulence intensity at the testing section, and the influence of the structural parameters of the wind tunnel on the flow field performance is finally investigated to achieve better performance. An experimental prototype of the wind tunnel was fabricated to verify the simulation results. Results demonstrated that the distribution uniformity and average turbulence intensity at the test section decrease first and then increase with the increase of both the diffuser and contraction lengths. The rectifying and damping effect of the honeycomb increase with increasing porosity and thickness. When the diffuser and contraction lengths are 850 mm and 480 mm, respectively, a better distribution uniformity and a lower turbulence intensity can be achieved. Experimental results were in good agreement with the simulation values. The maximum airflow velocity can reach up to 24.74 m/s, and the minimum error was only 1.23%. The designed wind tunnel achieved low-speed, small, portable and stable functions. This work provides an important guidance for further investigating the piezoelectric energy harvesting.

AbstractThe uniformity of the rice cluster distribution in the field affects population quality and the precise management of pesticides and fertilizers. However, there is no appropriate technical system for estimating and evaluating the uniformity at present. For that reason, a method based on unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV images) is proposed to estimate and evaluate the uniformity in this present study. This method includes rice cluster recognition and location determination based on the RGB color characteristics of the seedlings of aerial images, region segmentation considering the rice clusters based on Voronoi Diagram, and uniformity index definition for evaluating the rice cluster distribution based on the variation coefficient. The results indicate the rice cluster recognition attains a high precision, with the precision, accuracy, recall, and F1-score of rice cluster recognition reaching > 95%, 97%, 97%, 95%, and 96%, respectively. The rice cluster location error is small and obeys the gamma (3.00, 0.54) distribution (mean error, 1.62 cm). The uniformity index is reasonable for evaluating the rice cluster distribution verified via simulation. As a whole process, the estimating method is sufficiently high accuracy with relative error less than 0.01% over the manual labeling method. Therefore, this method based on UAV images is feasible, convenient, technologically advanced, inexpensive, and highly precision for the estimation and evaluation of the rice cluster distribution uniformity. However, the evaluation application indicates that there is much room for improvement in terms of the uniformity of mechanized paddy field transplanting in South China.

Abstract A field experiment was conducted in Jazeerah Al-Ramadi/Al-Hamidiyah research station (latitude33^o 27^’ 〖 11.9 〗 ^(՚՚)N, longitude 43^o 23^’ ^(՚՚) E (duration 2020. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of pipe types and emitters discharge on performance criteria of surface drip irrigation system. Therefore, a two factorial experiment was set as randomized complete block design with three replications. The first factor included the type of pipes and emitters, namely Turbo, GR and T-Tape. While the second factor involved the emitters discharge which consist of two levels i.e., 4 (D4) and 8 (D8) L.h-1. The irrigation system was initially evaluated in the field before planting by testing three operating pressures (50, 100 and 150 Kpa) to determine the actual discharge of the emitters closed to their design discharge (4 and 8 L.h-1) for each emitter to calculate the manufacturing coefficient of variation (CV), distribution uniformity and the discharge variation ratio at each operating pressure. Results showed that the best discharge (Closed to design discharge of 4 L.h-1) was obtained at the 50 Kpa operating pressure which gave 3.99,3.90 and 3.81 L.h-1 when using the T-Tape pipe and GR and Turbo emitter compare when the discharge of 8L.h-1 has been used which gave 7.96, 7.84 and 7.59 L.h-1 when the former pipe and emitters were used. The best coefficient of variation was observed when the T-Tape pipe and GR and Turbo emitter were used with discharge of 4 L.h-1 up to 0.1300, 0.2200 and 0.2600 compare to 0.1300, 0.2700 and 0.3500 when the same former pipe and emitters were used with discharge of 8L. h-1. Similarly, the best distribution uniformity was obtained when the T-Tape pipe and GR and Turbo emitter has been used with discharge of 4 L.h-1 which gave 94.68, 91.74 and 90%. Likewise, the most acceptable variety discharge ratio was observed when the same prior pipe and emitters were used with discharge of 4 L.h-1 by giving 7.23, 11.90 and 12.19 %.

Abstract Microstructures of AA5252 aluminum alloy sheets from surface to the center were observed by use of scanning electron microscope with electron backscatter detector assembly, and treated by anodic oxidation. Results showed that changes of the grain structures and textures of the AA5252 alloy sheets occur from the surface to the center layers. The anodic oxidation surface quality of the AA5252 aluminum alloy is closely related to the area ratio and distribution uniformity of Cube texture.
