The issue of determining the traction and energy characteristics of electric rolling stock with asynchronous traction drive is considered. It is noted that such rolling stock can work at any point of the traction area, resulting in the need to determine the characteristics of the rolling stock for the entire traction area. The calculation of the characteristics of the traction induction motor, which are the basis for determining the traction and energy characteristics of the electric rolling stock, is considered in detail. A procedure based on the calculation of the replacement circuit of an induction motor is proposed. The calculation of power losses due to higher harmonic voltages and currents is considered. An example of calculation of traction and energy characteristics of an DC electric shunting locomotive with a traction asynchronous electric drive is given.

The chirp form selection for producing intense and broad high-order harmonic spectra has been investigated when the initial state is chosen to be the single or superposition states. It is found that, for the case of a single ground initial state, the down-chirp is much better for extending the harmonic cutoff with the stronger emission intensity. Moreover, the multi-color combined field is beneficial to produce the larger harmonic cutoff and higher harmonic intensity. After the control of laser waveform, the combination of 3-color down-chirps with a proper UV pulse is the best condition to obtain the intense X-ray spectral continuum and the isolated attosecond pulse. For the case of superposition initial state, both the up-chirp and down-chirp are beneficial to generate the high-intensity spectral regions. However, with the combination of multi-color field, only the harmonic cutoff can be further extended, and the harmonic intensity presents almost no changes for the superposition initial state case. Finally, by properly choosing the 3-color up-chirps or 3-color down-chirps combined pulses, the stronger intensity harmonic spectra covering the X-ray region can be obtained, which can produce the isolated pulses of 37 as.

One of the areas of scientific and technological progress at the facilities of the marine industry is the widespread use of technologies based on nonlinear elements, which can significantly reduce their weight-size parameters and dimensions and expand their functional capabilities. However, the use of such technologies leads to a deterioration in the quality of electrical energy, primarily due to higher harmonic components of voltage and current. The article shows the nature of higher harmonics, analyzes the sections of the «Rules for the Classification and Construction of Sea-Going Vessels. 2021», Russian and a number of foreign standards in the field of electric power quality, regulating the level of higher harmonic components of voltage and current in electrical networks and systems. The paper presents the results of theoretical and experimental studies of the influence of higher harmonic components on the functioning of shipboard electrical equipment: asynchronous electric motors, power cables, transformers, capacitor banks and lighting systems. Formulas have been determined to assess this effect. It is shown that the influence is mainly manifested: in additional heating of electrical equipment due to the skin effect; vibrations of asynchronous electric motors at high values of 5th and 7th voltage harmonics of the ship's electrical network.

Abstract This study focuses on vibration reduction for quadcopters and octocopters with elastic, two-bladed, fixed-speed, variable-pitch rotors through the use of relative rotor phasing. The study defines phase modes such as a pitch phase mode with relative phasing between the front and aft rotors, a roll phase mode with relative phasing between the left and right rotors, and a differential phase mode with relative phasing between the clockwise and counter-clockwise spinning rotors for both the quadcopter and the octocopter, as well as additional higher harmonic phase modes for the octocopter. Parametric studies on individual phase modes indicate that, for the quadcopter in forward flight, the pitch and roll phase modes can almost entirely eliminate the 2/rev vibratory forces (at the aircraft level), but the 2/rev vibratory moments cannot be minimised at the same time. By simultaneously using multiple phase modes, a Pareto front can be generated and a solution selected based on the relative emphasis on force or moment vibration reduction. For the octocopter, it was observed that individual higher harmonic modes (specifically the 2c or 2s modes) could almost entirely eliminate both the 2/rev vibratory forces and moments, simultaneously. Compared with vibration levels in forward flight that might, on average, be expected if the rotors were randomly phased, a 62% reduction of a composite vibration index can be achieved on a quadcopter, and complete elimination of vibration was achievable on an octocopter, with appropriate rotor phasing.

AbstractEEG signals of healthy individuals and epileptic patients, when treated as time series of evolving dynamical systems, are found to display characteristic differences in the behavior of the unstable periodic orbits (UPO), marking the transition from regular periodic variations to self-similar dynamics. The UPO, manifesting as broad resonances in the Fourier power spectra, are quite prominent in their presence in the normal signals and are either absent or considerably weakened with a shift towards lower frequency in the epileptic condition. The weighted average and visibility power computed for the UPO region are found to distinguish epileptic seizure from healthy individuals’ EEG. Remarkably, the unstable periodic motion for healthy ones is well described by damped harmonic motion, the orbits displaying smooth dynamics. In contrast, the epileptic cases show bi-stability and piecewise linear motion for the larger orbits, exhibiting large sudden jumps in the ‘velocity’ (referred to the rate of change of the EEG potentials), characteristically different from the healthy cases, highlighting the efficacy of the UPO as biomarkers. For both the regions, 8-14Hz UPO and 40-45Hz resonance, we used data driven analysis to derive the system dynamics in terms of sinusoidal functions, which reveal the presence of higher harmonics, confirming nonlinearity of the underlying system and leading to quantification of the discernible differences between the healthy and epileptic patients. The gamma wave region in the 40-45Hz range, connecting the conscious and the unconscious states of the brain, reveals well-structured coherence phenomena, in addition to the prominent resonance, which potentially can be used as a biomarker for the epileptic seizure. The wavelet scalogram analysis for both UPO and 40-45Hz region also clearly differentiates the healthy condition from epileptic seizure, confirming the above dynamical picture, depicting the higher harmonic generation, and intermixing of different modes in these two regions of interest.SignificanceUnstable periodic orbits are demonstrated as faithful biomarkers for detecting seizure, being prominently present in the Fourier power spectra of the EEG signals of the healthy individuals and either being absent or significantly suppressed for the epileptic cases, showing distinctly different behavior for the unstable orbits, in the two cases. A phase space study, with EEG potential and its rate of change as coordinate and corresponding velocity, clearly delineates the dynamics in healthy and diseased individuals, demonstrating the absence or weakening of UPO, that can be a reliable bio-signature for the epileptic seizure. The phase-space analysis in the gamma region also shows specific signatures in the form of coherent oscillations and higher harmonic generation, further confirmed through wavelet analysis.
