Abstract We propose a framework where a phase transition associated with a gauge symmetry breaking that occurs (not far) above the electroweak scale sets a stage for baryogenesis similar to the electroweak baryogenesis in the Standard Model. A concrete realization utilizes the breaking of SU(2)R× U(1)X→ U(1)Y. New chiral fermions charged under the extended gauge symmetry have nonzero lepton numbers, which makes the B − L symmetry anomalous. The new lepton sector contains a large flavor-dependent CP violation, similar to the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa phase, without inducing sizable electric dipole moments of the Standard Model particles. A bubble wall dynamics associated with the first-order phase transition and SU(2)R sphaleron processes generate a lepton asymmetry, which is transferred into a baryon asymmetry via the ordinary electroweak sphaleron process. Unlike the Standard Model electroweak baryogenesis, the new phase transition can be of the strong first order and the new CP violation is not significantly suppressed by Yukawa couplings, so that the observed asymmetry can be produced. The model can be probed by collider searches for new particles and the observation of gravitational waves. One of the new leptons becomes a dark matter candidate. The model can be also embedded into a left-right symmetric theory to solve the strong CP problem.

Abstract Gunderson’s and Holling’s adaptive cycle metaphor provides a qualitative description of the development of a dynamically evolving complex system. According to the metaphor, a complex system alternately passes through phases of stability and predictability and phases of reorganization and stochasticity. So far, there have been no attempts to quantify the underlying notions in a way which is independent of the concrete realization of the system. We propose a method which can be applied in a generic way to estimate a system’s position within the adaptive cycle as well as to identify drivers of change. We demonstrate applicability and flexibility of our method by three different case studies: Analyzing data obtained from a simulation of a model of interaction of abstract genotypes, we show that our approach is able to capture the nature of these interactions. We then study European economies as systems of economic state variables to illustrate the ability of system comparison. Finally, we identify drivers of change in a plant ecosystem in the prairie-forest. We hereby confirm the conceptual dynamics of the adaptive cycle and thus underline its usability in understanding system dynamics.

Abstract We study de Sitter configurations in ten-dimensional string models where supersymmetry is either absent or broken at the string scale. To this end, we derive expressions for the cosmological constant in general warped flux compactifications with localized sources, which yield no-go theorems that extend previous works on supersymmetric cases. We frame our results within a dimensional reduction and connect them to a number of Swampland conjectures, corroborating them further in the absence of supersymmetry. Furthermore, we construct a top-down string embedding of de Sitter brane-world cosmologies within unstable anti-de Sitter landscapes, providing a concrete realization of a recently revisited proposal.

The author considers two additions to analysis of technoscience, suggested by Olga Koshovets and Igor Frolov. First, technoscience is not just regime of knowledge production, which brings into play enormous technological and organizational resources, but is a regime, regulated by mandatory requirement to produce knowledge, which should be transformed into endowed with market value goods and services (technoobjects). Second, technoscience is an ever-faster colonization of natural and social worlds by technoobjects. In the author's view, the main problem with technoscience is not to hold the next round of conceptual clarification and theoretical reorganization of previous distinctions (nature/society, basic science/applied science, scientific fact/technoobject, social connections/technological connections) or introduction of new ones. The challenge is how to turn the concrete realization of technoscience into empirical research objects. The complexity of such enterprise is demonstrated in the case of research biobanking, which has become one of exemplary embodiment of technoscience and contemporary mode of biopolitics.

The article aims to explore the implementation of al-wasathiyyah concept as a way towards achieving moderatism, as well as to see the discourse of Islam and moderation in Indonesia. The method is qualitative with religious sociological approach. Religious sociological approach is used because the wasathiyyah concept is tightly tied to the religion and society. The results of the research show that wasathiyyah Islam has the correlation to ethics and moderate traditions which are considered as a form of virtue. Moderate tradition in Islam in Indonesia includes several aspects of life, including: first, moderate in its thought and movement, which is reflected by the belief that is in line with the nature and ibadah that promotes world prosperity. Second, moderate in aqidah that is in line with the fitrah or nature of mankind, including in tolerance, consistence, and balance. Third, moderate in practicing Islamic teachings that is in accordance with human ability and not burdensome. Fourth, moderate in its method (manhaj). Fifth, moderate in reform and ijtihad. Through wasathiyyah Islam, Indonesian muslims are accustomed to a set of thoughts, behaviors, and actions that promote the spirit of moderation. Moreover, Indonesian Muslims are willing to consciously let go of their primordial religious bonds in favor of moderation. Therefore, waasathiyyah Islam is a concrete realization of a socio-political structure that is deeply rooted since the beginning, not a new diction that is used to describe the mindset of a certain group

The electron magnetic moment decomposition calculated in QED is proposed to have origin in a multi-vortex internal structure of the electron. This proposition is founded on two important contributions of this work. First, a critical review on Weyl model of electron, Einstein–Rosen bridge and Wheeler’s wormholes leads to a new idea of a topological defect in cylindrical spacetime geometry as a natural representation of the electron. A concrete realization of this idea in terms of the derivation of a new vortex-metric, and its physical interpretation to establish the geometric origin of the electron magnetic moment decomposition constitute the second contribution. Remarkable occurrence of a vortex structure in the basis mode function used in BLFQ is also pointed out indicating wider ramification of the proposed electron model.

AbstractSince the description of the utopian dimension of Guarani’s word-logos, embarked in the process of resistance to the colonial logic of homogenization and the single thinking, in this article are analyzed three fundamental moments inspired in the wisdom and the politicalethical thinking guarani, to know: the formal principle of ethic founding in the word, the discourse that engages a lifestyle: ñandereko; the political-formal principle in the utopic search of yvy marane¨y, the earth without evil , that found his concrete realization in the material principle of an economy of the gift (reciprocity). The two “formal” principles of ethic-politics find his moment of “material” concretion fundamental in the economy that enable the community life and serve us of inspiration to plan current alternatives to the society of capitalist consumption.Key words: Thinking, Principle, Resistance, The Earth without Evil, Reciprocity.

AbstractWe investigate the asymptotic behavior of solutions to a semilinear heat equation with homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions. It was recently shown that the nontrivial kernel of the linear part leads to the coexistence of fast solutions decaying to 0 exponentially (as time goes to infinity), and slow solutions decaying to 0 as negative powers of t. Here we provide a characterization of slow/fast solutions in terms of their sign, and we show that the set of initial data giving rise to fast solutions is a graph of codimension one in the phase space.
