Decades from its first reporting, incivility remains a pervasive professional issue in health-care environments. Nursing is recognized as a profession based on the art of caring, but the nursing field is also an environment in which harsh treatment of coworkers has become normative in some workplaces. The realities of high-stress environments, high levels of acuity, and heavy workloads abound on most nursing units. Negative behaviors associated with these realities are issues needing resolution. This article presents a positive approach to incivility, with principles illustrated in a fictitious vignette. This positive approach may help reduce the prevalence of negative behaviors.

The Bureau of the Gynecological Society instructed me, as an expert on the Petrovich case, to examine this case in today's public meeting. Taking into account, on the one hand, the fact that Dr. Petrovich is one of our members and that the determination of his moral guilt on a professional issue, drawn up not on the basis of subjective interpretations, which is full of the court's opinion, the opinion of the press and public opinion, but on the basis of strict and objective verification of Petrovich's actions should be of interest to the Gynecological Society, and on the other hand, having in mind the broad generalization of conclusions from this case in relation to doctors, as the prosecutor did in his speech and as the press does to this day, I I willingly took on this task and I want to share with you, gentlemen, my views on this matter and ask you to give your competent opinion on the issues that I will have the honor to pose and the resolution of which should clarify the guilt or lack thereof of Piotrovich.

The development of professional theriological publications in Ukraine published by the Ukrainian Theriological Society of NAS of Ukraine during 1998–2020 is considered. During these two decades, theriological publications, which began to develop as sets of preprints (1987, 1990, and 1992) and collections of scientific works of the Society (1988 and 1993), grew into thematic issues of the series Proceedings of the Theological School (1998–2010). The latter had no professional status, and therefore materials of theriological conferences and collections of scientific papers were published under the auspices of other issues with the appropriate status (2002–2011), primarily scientific bulletins of universities that participated in the organisation of annual workshops. In 2016 (vol. 14), the Proceedings of the Theriological School received the status of a professional issue, and since 2018 it has been published semi-annually under the title Theriologia Ukrainica with new ISSN and DOI registrations of all articles.

To assess the fitness to work certificate in employees both affected by neoplasia and exposed to ionizing radiation always represents a clinical and professional issue, as well as human and social. The aim of our study is to analyze the case of a 40-year-old clinician (woman, endoscopist, gastroenterologist) who underwent left mastectomy and breast reconstruction with a tissue expander, professionally exposed to ionizing radiation. Due to the presence of the BRCA1 gene mutation and the presence of breast and ovarian cancer familiarity, the patient also underwent a prophylactic right mastectomy and bilateral oophorectomy. According to Italian legislation and international guidelines, several elements and criteria have been taken into account to release the fitness to work certificate in this peculiar case of a female worker exposed to ionizing radiation, resulting in a final positive indication.

Conflict of interest (COI) can be defined as a set of circumstances that creates a risk that professional judgment or actions regarding a primary interest (e.g., a patient’s best interests) will be unduly influenced by a secondary interest (e.g., financial or professional gain for the counselor). Although conscious and intended unethical behavior resulting from a COI, most COIs occur at a subconscious level and are a normal aspect of human psychology and behavior. It can be very difficult for any professional to recognize a COI, and even more difficult for highly ethical people to realize that they may be making unethical choices. As such, COI is a critical professional issue that is largely inevitable and, like countertransference, needs to be managed, ideally with the help of professional supervision and/or a disinterested third party. The National Society of Genetic Counselors offers resources for addressing COI and its Code of Ethics provides a professional ethos and guidelines for helping to guide ethical behavior for the practice and profession of genetic counseling.

Throughout pregnancy, women are offered various screenings and diagnostic procedures. Group B Streptococcus (GBS) screening is currently a routine screening process in Australia, but not in the United Kingdom, which is offered to women at 35–37 weeks gestation. The results of GBS screening alter a woman’s course of care for labor and the postnatal period. This article is a review of evidence, policy, and clinical practice and aims to determine whether GBS screening is necessary and whether the screening has a positive or negative impact on women and their babies.
