The article overviews that international organizations play an important role in managing and reforming the security sector. These organizations provide expertise, advice, and knowledge enhancements on security issues; Trainings on financial capacity building issues; Programs and projects on important topics such as technical skills development, security sector management, oversight and conscientiousness. In recent times, a number of studies have been devoted to the prospects of NATO-Georgia relations and its deepening. There are always conversations about the reasons why Georgia needs to join Euro-Atlantic Alliance. However, in this regard, Georgia first needs to give NATO member states some important reasons why they would benefit from Georgia's membership in Euro-Atlantic Alliance. The main reason for this may be the fact that without a secure and stable Black Sea region, the security and stability of Europe is inconceivable. According to the author of the article, the process of rapprochement and eventual accession to NATO, in addition to guaranteeing security, promotes and improves the institutional framework of the economy, the rule of law, effective governance systems, corporate security, and the reduction of uncertainty and externalities, which, in turn, provides stability, reduces political risk, facilitates foreign direct investment and trade. Consequently, liberalizing the country's economy and shifting to market principles reduces social pressures, ensures increased prosperity and the accumulation of wealth. As a result, society becomes more protected and less vulnerable when it comes to various types of external and internal shocks.

COVID-19 has prompted a rise in telecommuting practices in most companies worldwide. Meanwhile, companies are struggling to cope with the new and evolving security threats in telecommuting using old control methods. Specifically, there is an increased danger of hacking attacks in telecommuting environments. Furthermore, corporate concerns regarding telecommuting security have led to a questioning of existing control methods that no longer seem adequate. Significant research has been conducted on the factors that improve the effectiveness of corporate security policies, such as formal control, informal control, and extrarole behaviors. However, these studies did not consider telecommuting environments, which surged after the COVID-19 outbreak. Telecommuting loosens the physical control over employees and eliminates the collegial environment in which employees encourage each other to protect system information. This study determined how the factors that influence the effectiveness of existing information security policies behave in a telecommuting environment. Our study shows that specification and mandatoriness are the most important factors for an effective telecommuting security policy. We conclude that this sudden change in the working environment has rendered existing security controls obsolete, and specification and mandatoriness are likely to receive increasingly more attention in the growing field of telecommuting security policy.

Security is considered a basic human need, according to Maslow’s hierarchy; however, it is hard to define exactly what the term means. Globalization, the digital environment, bring new dimensions and increasingly diverse interpretations of security to life. These new approaches, while reducing the consistency of the concept, allow an understanding of individual attitudes towards security. In recent years, several researchers have analyzed the psychological dimension of security at a personal level and ontological security in relation to citizens, residents, employees and students; however, based on a review of research history, there is still a scientific gap with regard to the perspective of customers and consumers. Accepting the fact that market actors are increasingly taking their share of creating a secure environment, in our empirical study we focus on corporate involvement and contribution through an examination of consumers’ perceptions of security. Corporate security is originally a field supporting the smooth operation of the organization, but nowadays it has become an important element of corporate strategy and also a factor of competitiveness. Keeping that in mind, our objective is to get a picture of how consumers judge the contribution of companies to the general sense of security in Hungary, what security-related tasks they expect from the corporate actors, and how they feel about a company’s security-related performance. In our study, we develop the ontological security model of consumers, into which we integrate—next to the individual socio-psychological features and the macro-environmental elements—the dimension of the assessment of corporate performance, the possible components of which are analyzed during the quantitative primary research.

Abstract Introduction. Tourism is part of the global security space and is the largest global industry with the highest levels of annual growth. In recent years, the issue of security has begun to significantly impact the development of tourism. This requires answers regarding the satisfaction of tourists from security, cultural, economic and sociological perspectives. Material and Methods. Our research problem is aimed at corporate security in health resorts (one of the conditions for establishing a health resort is e.g. the surrounding environment, natural mineral water), which differs from the security present in hotels or other tourist facilities. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, we developed a new theoretical model of corporate security in health resort tourism where we applied both a qualitative and quantitative paradigm in this research. In the qualitative part of this study, we collected data using the methods of document analysis and interviews and processed it in the software Atlas.ti. In the quantitative part, we collected data using a survey questionnaire and analysed the results using the SPSS software Results. The study will contribute an original theoretical model of corporate security in Slovenian health resort tourism to the treasure trove of knowledge and it will be possible to theoretically verify it and apply it in health resorts. Conclusions. In this way, we opened up the theoretical and practical dimensions of poorly researched field of security in Slovenian health resorts and, in doing so, contribute to the better understanding and improving of models of corporate security in health resort tourism.

The principal purpose of the study is to determine the main parameters of corporate security development in the enterprise in the context of determining the level of impact of external and internal threats. The study uses survey methods on the main internal and external threats that may affect the corporate security of enterprises. The purpose of the practical part of our study is to determine the level of these threats to corporate security. The methodological basis of our study is the method of expert evaluation, which was conducted by interviewing people involved in the process of corporate security management of enterprises, as well as methods of the hierarchical organization using matrices of pair-wise comparisons. The major results of the study can be considered determining the hierarchy of influence of each of the threats affecting the corporate security of industrial enterprises, which will allow optimizing the security system and directing its activities to more pressing issues. Our method of the hierarchical organization of threats to corporate security does not take into account the specifics of the corporate security system of industrial enterprises in most European countries and now can be freely implemented mainly in industrial enterprises of Eastern Europe. The proposed method of assessing external and internal threats is currently optimized for the activities of industrial enterprises in Eastern Europe, including Ukraine and Poland. In the following, at an expansion of the given research, there is a possibility of introducting this methodology to the enterprises of other countries or other profiles. The relevance of this study lies in determining the level of threats that affect the corporate security of industrial enterprises. The methodology for assessing the level of influence of these threats is universal, therefore it can be used in the event of a change in the main threats, it is extremely relevant in the context of rapid globalization changes in the world.

The novel coronavirus has made an impact on virtually every aspect of our lives. The current study utilizes secondary data to identify patterns and trends related to shifting crime from the physical to the cyber domain. With millions, if not billions, people staying at home, attackers now look for new ways to commit crimes. Our findings indicate that while a lot of crimes such as robbery, assault, rape, and murder have declined at the beginning of the pandemic, we are also witnessing a rise in cybercrime, vehicle theft, and domestic violence. The current study looks specifically at phishing and what new trends are observed due to COVID-19. The current work is grounded in routine activity theory and demonstrates its relevance to both the physical and cyberspace. The implications of our work can be used by scholars who want to continue researching this new phenomenon. Practitioners can utilize our findings to look for ways to improve the corporate security posture by protecting the employees and customers working from home. Developing new phishing training and awareness programs should be focused around possible scenarios involving COVID-19. Our study suggests victims are more likely to fall prey to those during times of fear and uncertainty like the current pandemic.

Perhaps now more than any time in history, anonymous threatening communications (ATCs) are easily delivered, highly disruptive, and frequently used by offenders who seek to frighten, harass, and intimidate their victims. The ability to quickly and defensibly triage and evaluate ATCs has become a necessary skill for threat assessment professionals who serve on corporate security, education, or community-based teams. In this chapter, the authors (both former members of the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit) provide a step-by-step operational guide for the analysis of ATCs. The methods and strategies shared by the authors can be easily adopted and used by threat assessors to confidently address this growing challenge.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to examine the experience of stress by national corporate security managers in the United Kingdom and how they manage it.Design/methodology/approachA qualitative approach was adopted where in-depth semi-structured one-to-one interviews with 22 male participants were conducted as the method of data collection. This was analysed using hybrid thematic analysis.FindingsThree overarching themes were elicited, namely: “Resilience”, “Synergy” and “Work/life balance”. The outcome showed that stress management by security managers is moulded by an interaction of various facets, with an emphasis on “resilience” having 66% of content occurrence, a factor which complements and enriches the job demand–control-support (JDCS) theoretical framework (Johnson and Hall, 1988).Practical implicationsThe paper argues the importance of the interaction between resilience and the dimensions of the JDCS. The research indicates the interaction is important in how practitioners can develop interventions in reducing stress in the workplace.Social implicationsThis research outcome implies that employees in managerial positions should be provided with resilience assessment and training to enhance their job effectiveness and well-being. Resilience needs to be recognised as an important trainable skill and stress management training should emphasise the enhancement of resilience.Originality/valueThis type of qualitative investigation on the lived experiences of stress management and how this affected one's resilience's in a high-stress industry is innovative as past research is mostly quantitative.
