In 1946, Howard Hughes nearly killed himself testing a new aircraft over Beverly Hills, and he spent weeks in the hospital before convalescing at Grant’s home. In 1947, when Hughes had recovered, he and Grant went on a cross country flight and their plane fell out of radio contact, leading the press to report that they were missing and presumed dead. On his return to Hollywood, Grant was unhappy making The Bishop’s Wife (1947), and he wanted to trade roles with his co-star David Niven, but producer Samuel Goldwyn refused his requests. While Grant hoped to make films in Britain with Alexander Korda, the plans eventually fizzled out. Nevertheless, he enjoyed a trip to London and Bristol, where he visited his mother again. On the voyage home, he met his future wife, the young actress Betsy Drake. The comedy Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House (1948), was made at a time when the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) was investigating communist subversion in Hollywood. Grant’s co-stars, Myrna Loy and Melvyn Douglas, were committed to resisting the investigation and promoting First Amendment rights. Grant, however, was reluctant to take a stand, believing that actors had no place making political pronouncements. It was only when Charlie Chaplin was attacked a few years later that Grant finally spoke out against the investigations.

In a network topology, where 5G (mm Waves) have better coverage footprint compared to 4G (LTE or LTE-A) technology, mobile devices would generally be handed over from 4G to 5G. In this work, a supervised intelligent prediction technique for improved handover success rate (HSR) from 4G to 5G technology is proposed. The technique is applicable for base stations enabled with sub-6-GHz and mm-wave bands. This technique is novel since it can predict HSR even before switching to 5G radio circuitry or initiating its measurement gap for acquisition of mm-wave reference signal received power (RSRP) unlike conventional algorithms. Thus, preempting all handovers which are likely to fail will provide improvements in latency, delay, and handover success rate, as well as decrease call drops. Therefore, this research work answers previous research shortcomings and can unleash applications of supervised intelligent algorithms for predicting the HSR from 4G to 5G. The proposed algorithm is validated by showing improvements obtained through simulation results performed using Python-based framework. The proposed algorithm is tested for reliability with increasing parameters such as the intensity number of UEs and simulation time. Improvements in standard handover algorithm are also proposed.

Abstract The paper presents an analytical-diffraction propagation model for the needs of the Radiocommunication Events Management System, for coast and ship radio stations in sea area A1. The V-wave propagation in sea area 1 has been analyzed as part of an analysis of ranges of particular radio stations and their ability to establish radio contact. The theoretical basis and assumptions on which the model structure design process is based have been presented. Methods of modelling and presentation of dislocation of particular radio stations and their ranges have been discussed.

Although the advanced technology in satellites and optical fiber communication systems exists now a day, but the researches in HF sky wave propagation for Mesopotamia (Iraq) area is suffered from shortage. In this paper, the novelty is that the communication path from Baghdad to any distance out of Iraqi border had been predicted, calculated and measured experimentally by using real data (Ionogram) supplemented by Nicosia Ionosound station 1000Km from Baghdad and a radio station model TS-130SE as a transmitter. The Predicted results generated by using MATLAB and NTIA/ITS software package like VOACAP. Radio communication using TS-130SE with 36 countries had been done experimentally. A comparison between the theoretical and experimental results was done. The experimental results were in the range of the predicated results which emphasis proposed method Presented in this paper.

This research is motivated by development of radio broadcasting using streaming concept to broadcast to the listeners. Before streaming broadcast radio it need planting perception, resulting satisfaction to listeners. Problem and research objectives is to what extent the relationship between the audience’s perception of streaming radio and streaming radio contact with the extent of audience satisfaction. This research based on the theory of use and gratification and using the quantitative methodology, with quota sampling technique, respondents of PT. MNC Sky Vision Jakarta. The research result shown that there is a relation between the perception of streaming radio and there is a real relationship between the satisfaction of streaming radio.

During October-December 1989-1991, biologists from the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department and the USDA Forest Service reintroduced 115 (88 male, 27 female) American Martens (Martes americana) into the southern half of the Green Mountain National Forest. During the years of release, brief radio-contact was made with 9 of the 13 (8 male, 5 female) radiocollared animals, and several of these may have established residency. Results of winter track count surveys suggested the presence of at least four Martens in 1990. During winter 1994-1995, Trailmaster® cameras and boxed camera systems detected Martens at two, and Fishers (Martes pennanti) at 11, of 20 sites. During winter 1997-1998, Fishers were detected at 37 of 47 boxed camera sites, but no Martens were detected. During summer 1997 and 1998, no Marten photos were recorded at 285 pressure-plate camera stations in a larger area that included all Marten release sites. Although post-release monitoring may have been insufficient to definitively confirm Marten presence, results from the 1997 and 1998 camera surveys indicate that a viable population of Martens was not established in southern Vermont, perhaps due to competition with Fishers.
