We measured optical modal gain of a dye–virus hybrid structure using a variable stripe length method, where Alexa-fluor-488 dye was coated on a virus assembly of M13 bacteriophage. Inspired by the structural periodicity of the wrinkle-like virus assembly, the edge emission of amplified spontaneous emission was measured for increasing excited optical stripe length, which was aligned to be either parallel or perpendicular to the wrinkle alignment. We found that the edge emission showed a strong optical anisotropy, and a spectral etalon also appeared in the gain spectrum. These results can be attributed to the corrugated structure, which causes a similar effect to a DFB laser, and we also estimated effective cavity lengths.

Optical gain coefficient of colloidal solution of spasers was measured by the variable stripe length method, where the intensity of the amplified spontaneous emission from the sample edge is measured as a function of excited volume. Spasers consist of gold core-silica (porous) shell nanoparticles penetrated with fluorescein. Under these conditions, we observed the exponential growth and narrowing of line and directivity of stimulated emission. The obtained optical gain coefficient of spaser colloids in fluorescein solution in ethanol is g = 16,2 cm–1. Separately, fluorescein solution in ethanol had g = 3,7 cm–1.

NAND Flash-based SSD has gained prevalence in enterprise and embedded system as storage device because its high I/O performance, low-power consumption, and Anti-vibration characteristics. RAID consisting of SSD can achieve higher performance. However, it brings new problems such as parity disks suffering from premature aging, data disk aging simultaneously. This paper based on the variation of SSDs reliability, design a new RAID-5 architecture with dynamic stripe length. It can effectively reduce the disk space overhead and improve the safety performance of the RAID.
