Abstract Background: Thromboangiitis obliterans (TAO), also known as Buerger's disease, is an occlusive arterial disease. However, the pathogenesis of TAO is still unclear. Research has shown that traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has significant advantages in the treatment of TAO. Our purpose is to explore the underlying roles of TCM in combination with nibble debridement and dressing method (NDDM) in TAO rat model. Methods: 10 mg/ml sodium laurate was utilized to establish a TAO rat model, and then the TAO mode rats were treated with notoginseng powder (NP), maifusheng (MFS) or the combination of NP or MFS and NDDM. Ganrene’s classification and, blood rheology was evaluated; the pathological characteristics of rat limbs were examined by H&E staining and Masson staining; CD3+ and CD20+ levels were measured by immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry. In addition, inflammation-associated cytokines were analyzed by RT-qPCR, Western blot and ELISA assays. Results: ntegration NP or MFS and NDDM dramatically reduced the ganrene’s classification and affected blood rheology parameter of TAO model rats compared with NP and MFS alone. Meanwhile, NP or MFS in combination with NDDM decreased CD3+CD20+T cells, reduced thrombosis and inflammatory cell infiltration, and dramatically decreased the levels of inflammation-associated cytokines. Conclusion: Our results suggested that integration NP or MFS and NDDM could relieve the symptoms of TAO model rats induced by sodium laurate, which might provide new management strategy for TAO.

In this work, a method of imparting hydrophobicity and high strength to hardened cement paste (HCP) is proposed. Sodium laurate (SL) was used as a hydrophobic modifier and nano silica (NS) as a pozzolan. The HCP was modified by SL and NS simultaneously. HCP modified with different contents of SL and NS was prepared. Surface wettability, micro-structures, chemical composition, and organic structure were systematically studied using contact angle (CA) measurement, scanning electron microscope (SEM) observation, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), respectively. The surface CA of the sample is 138.5° and has high hydrophobicity. Compared with the reference sample, the water absorption of the modified sample reduced by 96.55%, while the compressive strength only reduced by 6.91%. Therefore, using hydrophobic modifier and reinforcing agent as cement admixture is an effective method to endow concrete with hydrophobicity and high strength at the same time.

Fire suppression on peatlands requires large amounts of water and a longer time, hence it is necessary to develop extinguishing material that needs less water and time. Thus the negative impact of the fire can be solved immediately. One alternative for fire suppression that saves water and time is the application of foaming agents as an extinguishing material. This study aims to select the raw material of foaming agent from palm oil fatty acid saponification using the SAW method. Analysis results revealed that the best raw materials were sodium laurate and potassium palmitate, with the highest weight values of 70, 08 and 53, 87. Both of these materials have complementary properties. Sodium laurate can produce a lot of foam and reduce large surface tension. Potassium Palmitate produces the foam which can last the longest so that with the formulation of the two ingredients it is expected to produce foam that can extinguish peat fires.
