Abstract. Urbanization phenomenon is a key role that contributes to the smart cities development. The expansion of urban growth requires everything to be smart and controlled by advance technology for efficient urban management. One of the important aspects that often overlooked in realizing smart cities is asset management. Asset management is an approach for managing, monitoring and maintenance of assets. Previous studies showed that there are several efforts in managing asset by integrating the asset with Geographic Information System (GIS). However, several limitations can be seen from the studies such as unavailability of real visualization and limitation on asset descriptions although we believe that 3D offers rich information and real visualization for asset management practice. Therefore, to achieve an effective asset management, we proposed to conceptualize the asset with the latest version of CityGML 3.0. The aim of this paper is to model the immovable asset using CityGML 3.0 concept. We adopted the concept of occupied and unoccupied spaces to model the public hall, owned by Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB). The hall was modelled based on point cloud data set from Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). The attribute data for the hall was stored in 3DCityDB for information retrieval and query. The result showed that the hall was successfully visualized and information regarding the asset can be retrieved. With this approach, it is believed that an effective 3D asset management system can be developed in the future, to ensure adequate system performance and effective cost operational.

Cyber-security countermeasures are important for IIoT (industrial Internet of things) systems in which IT (information technology) and OT (operational technology) are integrated. The appropriate asset management is the key to creating strong security systems to protect from various cyber threats. However, the timely and coherent asset management methods used for conventional IT systems are difficult to be implemented for IIoT systems. This is because these systems are composed of various network protocols, various devices, and open technologies. Besides, it is necessary to guarantee reliable and real-time control and save CPU and memory usage for legacy OT devices. In this study, therefore, (1) we model various asset configurations for IIoT systems and design a data structure based on SCAP (Security Content Automation Protocol). (2) We design the functions to automatically acquire the detailed information from edge devices by “asset configuration management agent”, which ensures a low processing load. (3) We implement the proposed asset management system to real edge devices and evaluate the functions. Our contribution is to automate the asset management method that is valid for the cyber security countermeasures in the IIoT systems.

PurposeMaintenance management is perceived as fundamental for ensuring that physical assets contribute to business outcomes. In this context, the purpose of this paper is to elaborate a novel maintenance management framework for asset management (MMFAM) based on ISO 55000 series guidelines.Design/methodology/approachThe paper proposes an MMFAM that intends to translate the technical requirements set out in the ISO 550001 standard to the maintenance stage of asset management. First, the framework is modeled using consideration based on the analysis of the ISO 55000 series and the review of previous maintenance management frameworks. Then, support tools are presented that collaborate for the implementation of the processes and activities provided for in the MMFAM.FindingsThe proposed MMFAM was modeled using a Business Process Model and Notation since it is a standardized graphical notation for process modeling and contributes to the understanding of the framework. In addition, the applicable tools were presented for the practical implementation of MMFAM processes and activities.Practical implicationsThe paper is expected to contribute to maintenance practitioners and researchers in understanding and disseminating a novel maintenance management framework that is in line with asset management through the international ISO 55000 series.Originality/valueAs it is essentially multidisciplinary and complex, asset management has still been little explored. Moreover, the requirements for implementing an asset management system, as explained in the ISO 55001 standard, only provide what needs to be done, but not how to do it. Accordingly, the paper fills a gap in maintenance management literature, as it addresses the ISO 55000 series for asset management in depth.

An Integrated Asset Management System (IAMS) is a strategic asset management system that combines the assets of different categories into a system to prioritize their maintenance. This paper proposes a risk-based reliability-centric IAMS framework which works on the principle that the risk associated with the failure of an asset is a function of its direct and indirect costs. The direct costs are the costs associated with the replacement of the assets, whereas the indirect costs are the risks that the city faces following the failure. The framework is applied to the asset database of the City of Sugar Land, TX. The results of the model are analyzed in terms of a reduction in the number of assets in a very high-risk category in the risk matrix, the network level expected annual failure rate, and an increase in the network level average reliability.

Proper assets management and maintenance, especially equipment in the value chain of an organization, the failure of which leads to interruptions in the system and waiting in the production line, are very vital and of special importance in "equipment-oriented" organizations, including industries such as oil, gas, petrochemicals, steel, minerals, companies involved in the production and distribution of water, electricity, etc. Usually such organizations have a constant need to create an efficient and effective life cycle in order to achieve an efficient physical asset management system. The present study aimed to investigate the physical assets management in equipment-oriented industries with the equipment life cycle management (resource-based) view in oil and gas industries with a case study in an upstream oil industry company (namely North Drilling Company). For this purpose, first 15 criteria have been obtained based on literature review and research literature for evaluating the performance of physical asset management in oil and gas companies. Then, eight of the most important performance evaluation criteria were determined based on experts’ opinions and the fuzzy Delphi method, and in the next step, these criteria were weighted using the fuzzy SWARA method. According to the results, the most important criterion is the cost of maintenance and the least important is the cost of service-support. Finally, solutions are presented in the form of practical suggestions to improve the physical asset management system in this company.

The article is devoted to the generalization of theoretical aspects and practical recommendations for improving the asset management system in modern conditions. To build an effective system, the object of management — assets — is studied in detail. The approaches to understanding the essence of assets, namely value, financial and property, are singled out. The ratio of such concepts as “current assets”, “working capital” and “working capital” is studied, their common and different characteristics are determined. The current assets are grouped according to different classification features and their significance in the production process is determined. It is substantiated that the grouping of current assets is primarily of practical importance, allowing to build a clear system of accounting and analysis of the availability and movement of current assets and to form an effective system of their management by individual types. A thorough analysis of the interpretations of the concept of “asset management” available in the scientific literature has been made, and several approaches to its understanding have been identified. The conducted research made it possible to form an author's definition of the current assets management system. It is determined that the current assets management system should be based on an integrated approach, the components of which are objects and subjects of management, purpose, basic principles and functions, methods and tools of influence, formalized quantitative and qualitative criteria for achieving goals, and factors forming the operating environment of the object. The characteristic of each element of the system is given, in particular the subjects and objects of management are concretized, their interaction is considered, the purposes and tasks are outlined. It is determined that the functions of the management system are controlling, stabilizing and analytical, and the principles on which it is based — timeliness, unity, continuity, optimality and rationality. The implementation of the current assets management system involves the implementation of a number of successive measures in the form of certain stages, which are considered in the work. The proposed system of current assets management will predict the choice of management strategy of the entity in the long run and increase the overall efficiency of its operation.

Asset Management at PT. Indonesia Toray Synthetics is still done manually, it also burdens admin in inputting and searching for asset data. The utilization of information technology in managing the asset management system will greatly assist PT. Indonesia Toray Synthetics by scanning items using barcodes, displaying the history of incoming and outgoing goods, and being able to manage asset management reports based on certain periods in real time. In making this system and research, the writer uses the SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities & Threats) method, and UML (Unified Modeling language) for system design oriented which has been implemented in the PHP (Hypertext) programming language and Sublime Text applications. With the application of this asset management system, it will be able to facilitate the data collection and data search of assets as well as to control the stock rotation of goods in the company.
