In this paper, ZIF-11 material was synthesized from benzimidazole and different zinc salt sources at room temperature. The obtained samples were characterized using XRD, SEM, FTIR and TGA measurements. The results showed that the synthesized materials had nano-size, and uniformity with the sharp dodecahedrons structure of ZIF-11. Zinc sources had an influence on the size and nature of the ZIF-11 crystal. The average crystalline size of the nanoparticles calculated by Scherrer equation were 85.5 nm for sample of zinc nitrate, 91.9 nm for sample of zinc chloride and 111.5 nm for sample of zinc acetate. The obtained samples had high thermal stability ( 460 °C). The adsorption capacity of the synthesized materials for iodine from aqueous solution was very high (236 mg/g).

In a cultural heritage context, fatty acids are usually found as breakdown products of lipid-containing organic remains in archaeological findings, binders in aged oil paintings, and additives in modern art-related materials. They may further interact with the ionic environment transforming into metal soaps, a process that has been recognized as a threat in aged paintings but has received less attention in archaeological objects. The investigation of the above related categories of materials with infrared spectroscopy can provide an overall picture of the organic components’ identity and demonstrate their condition and prehistory. The capability of investigating and distinguishing fatty acids and their metal soaps through their rich infrared features, such as the acidic carbonyl, the carboxylate shifts, the variable splits of alkyl chain stretching, bending, twisting, wagging, and rocking vibrations, as well as the hydroxyl peak envelopes and acid dimer bands, allows for their direct detailed characterization. This paper reviews the infrared spectra of selected saturated fatty monoacids and diacids, and their corresponding sodium, calcium, and zinc salts and, supported by newly recorded data, highlights the significance of their spectroscopic features.

By changing the anions of zinc salts, three different zinc(II) complexes, [Zn2(HL)2(NCS)4]·2CH3OH (1), [Zn2L(μ2-η1:η1-CH3COO)2(NCS)] (2) and [Zn(HL)I2]·CH3OH (3), where L = 5-bromo-2-((2-(diethylamino)ethylimino)methyl)phenolate, HL = 5-bromo-2-((2-(diethylammonio)ethylimino)methyl)phenolate, have been synthesized and characterized by IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy, as well as single-crystal X-ray diffraction. X-ray analysis indicates that the Zn atoms in the complexes are in trigonal bipyramidal, square pyramidal and tetrahedral coordination. The anions of the zinc salts lead to the formation of different structures of the complexes. Antibacterial activity of the complexes against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsielle pneumoniae and Candida albicans strains was studied.

This article discusses a method for producing cyclopentanone and cyclopentene on the basis of wateracid effluents from caprolactam production during pyrolysis of the calcium salt of adipic acid at different temperatures. The compound of the obtained liquid product has proved by the method of chromatographic analysis and the dependence of the yields of cyclopentanone on the process temperature has investigated. A qualitative analysis of calcium adipate by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry has carried out, and the possibility of using zinc salts as process catalysts has studied.
