The occurrence of disasters in Brazil by natural processes has been increasing along the years. One of these phenomena is mass movements, a destructive phenomenon which may cause damage to socioeconomic. The morphometric variables are becoming useful in geomorphologic analysis, mainly in diagnosis of susceptible areas to those processes. This way, the objective of this work is to identify susceptible areas of mass movements in the interface between meridional plateau and the central depression in Vale do Taquari region, using geomorphometric variable at a scale of 1:250.000. This morphometric analysis contains Remote Sensing and geoprocessing, so it becomes an effective and low cost method. GIS software (Geographic Information System) was used to maps algebra from the statistical methods AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) and Delphi, in which pondering and the hierarchy of influential variables in this analysis. The final product is an analysis map of susceptibility to mass movements in the mentioned region. In the map it is observed that the region has a high degree of susceptibility in most aspects. With this data it is possible to carry out a proper planning and management of the territory, providing more safety to the occupation of those areas.

Mapping planetary surfaces is an intricate task that forms the basis for many geologic, geomorphologic, and geographic studies of planetary bodies. In this work, we present a method to automate a specific type of planetary mapping, geomorphic mapping, taking machine learning as a basis. Additionally, we introduce a novel dataset, termed DoMars16k, which contains 16,150 samples of fifteen different landforms commonly found on the Martian surface. We use a convolutional neural network to establish a relation between Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter Context Camera images and the landforms of the dataset. Afterwards, we employ a sliding-window approach in conjunction with a Markov Random field smoothing to create maps in a weakly supervised fashion. Finally, we provide encouraging results and carry out automated geomorphological analyses of Jezero crater, the Mars2020 landing site, and Oxia Planum, the prospective ExoMars landing site.

This paper presents the modified framework of geomorphologic analysis based on the concept of fractal tree. Especially, it is intended to provide hydrologic practitioners with the information on the fractal property of small river basins. To this end, the complete drainage path network is applied to a growth process of a fractal tree for the basin of interest by connecting a channel network to overland drainage pathways. The growth process of a fractal tree would occur only within the limited region possessing channel flow properties in a natural river basin. The exponent of the intra basin type of Hack’s law could show a variable trend in small river basins mainly due to anisotropic property of the catchment planform. The bifurcation process of a drainage path network might be more sensitive to the growth step of the fractal tree than the meandering process of drainage path segment. The fractal dimension from the sinuosity of a channel segment is relatively stable compared to the one from the bifurcation process of the network, so that the geomorphologic features of a small river basin can be characterized by the anisotropic property of catchment planform as well as the bifurcation property of drainage path network with the growth of the fractal tree.

The carried out complex researches, including structure and geomorphologic analysis of the Cuba island and its framing with addition 3D geodynamic modeling of the latest structures formation of this region, allowed to reveal arch-block style of the latest structures of the Cuba region, to determine their relations with Mesozoic structures and seismicity; to calculate of the axes orientations and area of maximal tensions; to show development of morphostructures trends on the newest stage; to do the prognosis of sesmicity. As a result of the work high statistical values of the correlation between neotectonic parameters and seismicity were obtained.

The carried out structural and geomorphologic analysis including visual and computer interpretation of the topographic maps and space images supplemented by statistical processing of the results, allowed to reveal arch-block style of the latest structures of the central part of the West-Siberian plate. The kinematics, the formation and the nature of the relationship of the modern structures with ancient ones were determined. It was revealed that neotectonic structure is forming due to submeridional stress.

The geoecological evaluation of the relief of Pašman Island from the standpoint of its touristic evaluation was conducted on the previously conducted geomorphologic analysis of the island relief. The evaluation was conducted for the needs of specific types of touristic activities (swimming, sunbathing, walking, "škraping") in the sense of its physical favourability, aesthetic value and accessibility. The method of relative relief evaluation was applied, whereby relief was evaluated within four morphographic categories: slopes, peaks, valley bottoms and beds and the coast. According to this method, as the principal restricting factor of tourist evaluation of certain parts of Pašman Island is the problem of inaccessibility, especially on the steeper south-west façade of the island (remoteness, inexistence or lack of arranged paths and wharfs). In accordance therewith, several proposals as possible solutions to the present problem were given (arrangement of paths, informing tourists on possible individual or group walks to certain destinations, organising trips with professional guides).
