AbstractCybersecurity is an ever-present problem for organizations, but organizational science has barely begun to enter the arena of cybersecurity research. As a result, the “human factor” in cybersecurity research is much less studied than its technological counterpart. The current manuscript serves as an introduction and invitation to cybersecurity research by organizational scientists. We define cybersecurity, provide definitions of key cybersecurity constructs relevant to employee behavior, illuminate the unique opportunities available to organizational scientists in the cybersecurity arena (e.g., publication venues that reach new audiences, novel sources of external funding), and provide overall conceptual frameworks of the antecedents of employees’ cybersecurity behavior. In so doing, we emphasize both end-users of cybersecurity in organizations and employees focused specifically on cybersecurity work. We provide an expansive agenda for future organizational science research on cybersecurity—and we describe the benefits such research can provide not only to cybersecurity but also to basic research in organizational science itself. We end by providing a list of potential objections to the proposed research along with our responses to these objections. It is our hope that the current manuscript will catalyze research at the interface of organizational science and cybersecurity.

Loneliness is framed as an enduring problem for carers of all ages, including older carers; however, there is little examination of older men’s experiences of caring, loneliness and social isolation. Based on interviews with 25 men (aged 68‐92 years), we discuss findings from a study of older male carers’ experiences of loneliness in England. Within their accounts, loneliness is framed as a future, rather than present, problem as caring provides a time-limited buffer to loneliness while concurrently increasing social isolation. Further, the findings shed light on how male carers seek and benefit from carers’ support groups while also maintaining autonomy.

The importance of developing statistical tools in the manufacturing labor field starts from the daily struggle of industrial production processes against variability. The analysis of the measurement system aims to assess the variability associated with the measurement method used in the production process. Considering the instrument (Gage) and the operator that performs the measurement, in order to identify if it can be considered as acceptable. The objective of the research is to evaluate the reliability of the measurement system used in the production line of electronic locks through a Gage R&R study, to reduce the number of defective parts. The production line under evaluation is dedicated to the assembly and manufacture of electronic padlocks, has three inspection stations in which a repeatability and reproducibility study is carried out to obtain as a result the percentage of accuracy associated with the performance of the machine in the measurement system and personnel. The methodology or procedure to be followed for the development of the repeatability and reproducibility study will be carried out as mentioned by Pulido (2009), in the described steps of a short and long R&R study, from which the most relevant and applicable steps were taken. according to the characteristics of the present problem. The contribution of the study is the development of an analysis of the measurement system offers the company the outline of the current situation in a quantitative and qualitative way and allows it to provide a solid basis for the recognition of improvement opportunities that can help to decrease reported defects.

This chapter traces the interminglings of Lockean with Protestant conceptions of child malleability and innateness and their implications for the mother-child nexus in the nineteenth century. It revisits the key question of predestination posed by sociologist Max Weber and examines changing notions of innate depravity through the lens of Christian motherhood as found in an early Evangelical mothers’ periodical written by women, many of whom were mothers. The experiences and concerns of mothers and the ever-present problem of child malleability combined to undergird a new kind of understanding of the child—one that considers and perhaps enables the privileging of the child’s subjectivity as consequential for this-worldly action in the form of mothering practices and ideologies. In the process, the duty of knowing, intuiting, and imputing the actions, motivations, and responses of and to children devolved to white, Christian mothers. The “Liberal Protestantism,” exemplified and brought forth in the writings of Horace Bushnell in mid-century, enacted something beyond a “feminization” of religion through sentiment and affect. It also indispensably assisted in ushering the “child” to the forefront of consideration in ways consequential to the subsequent rise and cultural predominance of a “modern,” consumerist child subjectivity.
