Information literacy (IL) is important for university students. In this research, we developed a digital role-playing game to enhance students’ learning of IL and investigated the effects of gameplay modes on their learning performance, motivation, self-efficacy and flow experiences. A total of 90 students participated in the study and played the game in collaborative, competitive and solo modes. Their IL knowledge was measured through a post-test after they completed the game and associated exercises. Their motivation, self-efficacy and flow experiences were evaluated through a questionnaire survey. The results indicated statistically significant effects of the gameplay modes on the students’ learning performance, motivation, self-efficacy and flow experiences. The solo mode was inferior to the other two in all four aspects. The collaborative mode significantly outperformed the competitive mode in terms of enhancing learning performance and flow experience, while the competitive mode was significantly better in terms of promoting self-efficacy. These two modes were similarly effective in the dimension of motivation. Based on the results, we suggest that students play games in the collaborative or competitive modes when conditions permit. We also advise teachers to provide students with rich opportunities for discussion, collaboration and interaction and believe that an appropriate competitive atmosphere is important.

Islamic financial planning is a making process of financial planning in prudence to make it compatible with Islamic law in order to achieve the level of Al-Falah, that is the blessing of dunya and the salvation of akhira. Yet, with the importance of Islamic financial planning, the individuals who apply the Islamic financial planning in managing their wealth are still rare. So that this research intends to discover the influence of Islamic financial literacy towards each individual’s Islamic financial planning, and moderation effects given by the big five personality trait. The researcher used the simple regression test to find out the Islamic financial literacy effects towards the Islamic financial planning, and used the analysis of moderated multiple regression (MMR) to take the idea that the big five personality trait can moderate the Islamic financial literacy effects towards the Islamic financial planning. The data is collected by using the survey technique through questionnaire distribution to 115 moslem entrepreneurs in Bandung area. The result of this research shows that the Islamic financial literacy influences the Islamic financial planning significantly, and the big five personality trait partially moderates that influence. Furthermore, the conscientiousness and opennes to experience personality trait moderate the influence of Islamic financial literacy towards Islamic financial planning, while the other three of big five personality trait do not moderate.

Abstract This research aims to find out whether financial literacy effects performance and sustainability of culinary MSME. Respondents are 100 managers or owners of culinary MSMEs in Greater Jakarta who are responsible for making decisions regards the business and selected by purposive sampling. Structured questionnaire consisted of type of quiz modified from the Basic Indonesian Financial Literacy Index to determine financial literacy and modification of the EFQM Excellence Model to measure performance based on the perception of how far the respondent reaches the indicators of business results. Questions of business sustainability is modified from the Triple Bottom Line reporting indicator to measure sustainability of business operations in terms of economic, environmental and social aspects. SEM model is used to analyze data. The result showed financial literacy has a significant effect to performance of culinary MSME as well as the performance has a significant effect to sustainability of culinary MSME. However, financial literacy does not have a significant effect to sustainability of culinary MSME. It is strongly recommended to management of culinary MSMEs to increase their management capacity in term of financial literacy especially ability to be engaged with digital and financial technology.Keywords: Business performance, Culinary MSME, Financial literacy, Sustainability

Aim:The present study examines input and literacy effects in simultaneous and sequential bilinguals with the aim of (a) investigating the differences between bilingual and monolingual populations and (b) disentangling the individual contribution of different factors in bilingual syntactic abilities.Methodology:A sentence repetition task (SRT) in Greek with eight structures (Subject Verb Object [SVO], negative clauses, clitic structures, complement clauses, coordinated sentences, adverbial clauses, wh-questions and relative clauses) was employed. All bilinguals additionally participated in a standardized expressive vocabulary task in Greek to measure their lexical ability.Data:Sixty 8–10-year-old children (20 monolingual, 20 simultaneous and 20 late sequential bilinguals) were tested.Findings:The analysis showed that (a) monolinguals outperform sequential bilinguals in sentence repetition, (b) clitic structures are highly problematic for all participants, (c) vocabulary and syntactic skills are closely related for simultaneous but not for sequential bilinguals, (d) home language practices in the early years affect SRT performance and (e) sequential bilinguals benefit from literacy practices that support syntactic skills in the language tested. Overall, we found that the effect of input overrides the effect of a traditionally categorical factor in bilingualism: age of onset (AoO) of exposure to L2.Originality:The contribution of this study includes (a) the examination of syntactic abilities in bilinguals in connection with language input early in life and at the time of testing, (b) the non-pervasive role of age of exposure to the L2 in SRT performance and (c) the role of literacy measures as key factors affecting syntactic skills in bilinguals.Implications:Quality of input and literacy in particular have been shown to affect bilingual syntactic skills, suggesting that enhancing literacy exposure as a language policy for bilinguals has a significantly positive impact on language development.

To examine script effects, monoscriptal Spanish–English (SE) bilinguals, who use two similar Roman alphabetic systems, were compared to biscriptal Chinese–English (CE) bilinguals, who use logographs and Roman alphabets. On the Attention Network Test, script effects were most evident in global processing efficiency (i.e., inverse efficiency and reaction time) and in the local network of executive control in favor of biscriptal CE bilinguals over matched monoscriptal SE counterparts. Literacy effects were found on the executive control network among Chinese–English bilinguals of high L1-literacy skills over their script- and immersion-matched counterparts, who varied only in low L1 literacy. In a similar vein, results of the multiple regression analysis demonstrated that script and literacy are significant predictors of executive control capacities. Our results suggest that script variation in a bilingual's language pair is an important modulating factor that enhances overall attention efficiency.
