Abstract This study argues that the first two titles listed in the bibliography of Abū Yūsuf Yaʿqūb b. Isḥāq al-Kindī (d. ca. 259/873) presented in the Fihrist of Ibn al-Nadīm (d. 380/990) – his well-known work al-Falsafa al-ūlā (First Philosophy), on metaphysics, and a lost work entitled al-Falsafa al-dākhila (Internal Philosophy) – form an intentional pair. Together, they presented an epitome of Aristotle’s collective works on philosophy, including an outline of metaphysics in al-Falsafa al-ūlā and a discussion of detailed questions of logic, physics, psychology, and metaphysics in al-Falsafa al-dākhila. Drawing primarily on al-Kindī’s work On the Quantity of Aristotle’s Books, the study suggests several emendations to the full title of al-Falsafa al-dākhila as recorded in the Fihrist of Ibn al-Nadīm.

Abstract Objectives Under-reporting of unemployment or forced retirement has consequences for measuring the impacts of job changes on health at retirement. We analyzed a comprehensive three-part measure of lost work opportunity for evidence of impact on health. Methods We combined variables from the Health and Retirement Study for 2,576 respondents assessing unemployment, forced retirement, and earlier than planned retirement into a single lost work opportunity score (LOS). We evaluated the reliability and unidimensionality of the LOS. We conducted multivariate regression to assess health impacts controlling for age, gender, education, race, ethnicity, and prior health status. Results The Cronbach’s Alpha for the LOS was a = 0.76 and the LOS variables primarily loaded onto a single component demonstrating undimensionality. The LOS significantly predicted self-reported health (⃞ = .16; p < .001) with higher lost work associated with negative health outcomes (Cox and Snell R2 = 0.07). The LOS score significantly predicted mental health declines (⃞ = .07; p = .002)(Cox and Snell R2 = 0.07). Discussion Population-level data indicates that health declines following both unemployment and retirement, but there is ample evidence that early or planned retirements do not show the same negative health impacts. We examined the health impact of retirement using the construct of lost work opportunity rather than voluntary or involuntary retirement, per se. Our findings indicate that as much as 7% of negative health changes in the early retirement years could be attributable to employment changes that were unplanned or experienced as outside the retiree's control.

Based on production data of overburden (OB) stripping at Pit 7 PT XYZ in February 2019, productivity of the excavators doesn’t reach the desired target. To find out the potential for increased productivity and effectiveness of using excavators, it’s necessary to do an analysis using the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) method. OEE is a performance measurement tool that has the ability to identify the root of the problem and it’s causative factors so that improvement efforts are more focused. The parameters used in the calculation of OEE value are: Availability, Utilization, and Productivity Index. Based on the result of data processing, the OEE value were 56,00% for excavator EX2313 and 34,19% for excavator EX2325. This means that the OEE value hasn’t been able to meet the world class standard OEE value in medium category, namely 60%. Improvement are made by reducing lost work time but obstacles can be avoided, so as to increase utilization. The proposed improvement provide increased in the OEE value were 12,73% for excavator EX2313 and 11,61% for excavator EX2325. This shows that the OEE value of PC800 with number EX2313 reaches the world class standard in medium category or productivity can be considered reasonable, namely 68,73%. Meanwhile, the OEE value of PC800 with number EX2325 still doesn’t reach the world class standard in medium category, namely 45,80%.

Abstract Primary Subject area Public Health and Preventive Medicine Background Visits to pediatric emergency departments have decreased up to 75% during the pandemic, with corresponding increases in high acuity visits, inpatient admissions, and intensive care unit admissions compared to historical cohorts. Objectives To determine if caregivers of children presenting to pediatric emergency departments (EDs) during the COVID-19 pandemic are delaying presenting to care for fear of contracting COVID-19. Secondary objectives were to: a) evaluate potential predictors of delay; b) describe the proportion of children whose symptoms worsened during time to presentation. Design/Methods A multicentre cross-sectional survey study of caregivers accompanying their children aged 0-19 years old to 16 pediatric EDs in 6 countries, from May-June 2020. An anonymous online survey, completed by caregivers via RedCAP, included caregiver and child demographics, presenting complaints, if they delayed presentation and whether symptoms worsened during this interval, as well as caregiver concerns about the child or caregiver having COVID-19 at the time of ED visit. Results Of 1543 caregivers completing the survey, 287 (18.6%) reported a delay in seeking ED care due to concerns of contracting COVID-19 in the hospital. Of those, 124 (43.2%) stated their child’s symptoms worsened during the waiting interval. Caregiver relationship to child [mother] (OR 1.85, 95% CI 1.27-2.76), presence of chronic illness in child (OR 1.78. 95% CI 1.14-2.79), younger age of caregiver (OR 0.965, 95% CI 0.943-0.986), and caregiver concerns about lost work during the pandemic (OR 1.08, 95% CI 1.04-1.12), were independently associated with a COVID-19-related delayed presentation in multivariate regression analysis. Conclusion Almost one in five caregivers reported delaying ED presentation for their ill or injured child, specifically due to fear of contracting COVID-19 while in hospital. Mothers, younger caregivers, caregivers of children with chronic illness, and those concerned about lost work were at highest risk for delay.

A common source of reduced productivity and lost work time in the industrial setting is musculoskeletal discomfort in the feet, knees, hips, and low back. Even when working identical job posts, these symptoms can vary widely between employees, and could potentially be caused by intrinsic foot biomechanics coupled with long-term standing activities. Therefore, to prevent injury and reduce daily discomfort, onesize-fits-all approaches such as anti-fatigue mats or off-the-shelf shoe insoles may be less effective than treating each employee’s specific biomechanical traits. The Quadrastep System is a prefabricated, semi-custom shoe insert system that bridges the gap between more expensive, fully customized orthotics and off-the-shelf options. We studied the effectiveness of the system in a large manufacturing plant by assessing and providing Quadrastep inserts to 28 volunteers. After 2 months of daily wear, 94% of these volunteers said they received some benefit from the inserts, while 52% reported full resolution of daily symptoms.

The article analyzes the results of five studies carried out in the Novosibirsk region for the purpose of research of the possibilities of the switch to self-employment of unoccupied population that apply to employment service regarding provision of employment. The paper studies the dynamics of the main social indicators favoring the choice of self-employment and varying under the influence of this choice: hope and trust in the state regarding provision of employment status, periodicity in loss of work, recession of income level and capability of providing oneself and family; influence of the reference groups on the choice of self-employment (their success); assessment of labor as social value; social feeling of unoccupied people and family support. Several trends were revealed: faith in the state as the guarantor of full employment provision weakened significantly; civil activity regarding securing self-sufficiency increased; the share of the people who lost work for the first time is reducing and the number of unemployed who lost work two or more times is increasing; the number of the people who have to save on the most needed and who are not in difficulties for money is decreasing; the number of the people who feel pity for unemployed people regarding their unemployment is decreasing and the number of indifferent people is increasing; family support grows. A conclusion was drawn regarding the possibility of employment of unemployed people via the development of self-employment, necessity of provision of assistance and support to them on the part of the state; it will allow people to overcome a welfare mentality and discover their own business development strategy.
