The number of community activities in the area of River Barumun Labuhanbatu South will produce heavy metals in the waters and will accumulate to the bottom of the waters in the sediment. This study discusses the content of heavy metal Cd in sungai Barumun Labuhanbatu  Selatan. The research was conducted in December 2020 until January 2021 in the region of the waters of the River Barumun Labuhanbatu Selatan. The process of sampling using purposive sampling method. Data analysis was done descriptively by looking at the results of the measurements of some parameters of the waters and the test results of water samples in the laboratory by comparing the quality standard according to the Decision of the Minister of Environment No. 51 Year 2004. As for the test sediment samples in the laboratory compared with the raw quality of the concentration of heavy metals in the sediment IADC/CEDA 1997. The results of the heavy metal concentration of Cd in the surface water ranged 0,003-0,068 mg/l, the concentration of heavy metal cadmium in water depth of 5 meters has a range of 0.007-to 0.058 mg/l.

The application of steel slag and bokashi of husk in Andisols has been acknowledge to decrease P-retention and increase available P. However, steel slag contains heavy metals that may harm soils. The objective of this research was to find out the effect of amelioration steel slag and bokashi of husk in Andisols on the heavy metals contents (Cd, Pb and Cr) in the soil. The treatments were arranged in randomized block designed in factorial pattern with two factors: steel slag and bokashi of husk, each consisted of four level: 0, 2.5, 5.0 and 7.5 % in 10 kg soil weight (w/w), thus the total was 16 combined treatments and repeated three times. The treatments were incubated for four months and then the P-retention, available P, Cd, Pb and Cr contents in the soil were analyzed. The results showed that steel slag and bokashi of husk interacted in decreasing 6.67% of P-retention and increasing 60 ppm of available P. This research also informed that Cd, Pb and Cr contents in the soil after the treatments were still lower than the critical value that were permitted.

In order to explore the feasibility of a class of eutectic ionic liquids in soil heavy metal repair problems. The acetamide-alanine eutectic ionic liquid was prepared and its properties of density, viscosity, surface tension and electrical conductivity were measured, and it’s application effect of Cd2+ extraction in soil was studied. The results showed that the extraction amount of Cd2+ in soil by the acetamide-alanine eutectic ionic liquid with a concentration of 0.6 mol/L reached the maximum of 99.67%. The physical properties of a melamine-alanine eutectic ionic liquid having a concentration of 0.6 mol/L at a temperature range of 303.15 K-343.15 K were determined. The 0.6 mol/L acetamide-alanine eutectic ionic liquid was compared with the ionic liquid and the related organic acid aqueous solution prepared under the same conditions, and the acetamide-alanine eutectic prepared by the experiment was found to be eutectic. The ionic liquid has better extraction efficiency for heavy metal Cd2+ under the same conditions, and is a good soil heavy metal extractant.
