Abstract Background Recipients of an organ transplantation face a number of challenges and often need to change their health behaviour. Good self-management skills are essential for optimal clinical outcomes. However, few interventions are available to support post-transplant self-management. To fill this gap, we developed a self-management support intervention offered by nurse practitioners. The primary aim of the study is to implement and test the effectiveness of the ZENN intervention in promoting self-management skills among heart, kidney liver and lung transplant recipients in comparison to standard care. The secondary aim is to assess the self-management support skills of nurse practitioners who will deliver the intervention. Methods This multi-centre stepped-wedge randomized controlled trial will take place from September 2020 until May 2023. All departments will commence with inclusion of patients in the control period. Each department will be randomly assigned to a start date (step in the wedge) to commence the experimental period. Patients in the control period will receive standard care and will be asked to complete questionnaires at baseline (T0), 6 months (T1) and 12 months (T2), to assess self-management, self-regulation, quality of life and adherence. During the experimental period, patients will receive standard care plus the ZENN intervention and receive the same set of questionnaires as participants in the control period. Nurse practitioners will complete a baseline and follow-up questionnaire to assess differences in self-management support skills. Video recordings of outpatient clinic consultations during the control and experimental periods will determine the differences in nurses’ needs-thwarting and needs-supporting skills between the control and experimental period. Discussion The ZENN intervention could be a useful approach to support patients’ self-management skills after organ transplantation and thus promote clinical outcomes as well as avoid adverse events. Trial registration Dutch Trial Register NL8469. Registered on March 19, 2020.

Basic Life Support (BLS) is an action to maintain the patient's life with the first step of rapid recognition to provide emergency ventilation and circulatory support in respiratory or cardiac cases. The quality of basic life support provided for cardiac arrest outside the hospital is often less than optimal and knowledge of basic life support skills in the general public, especially students, is not good. Based on the problems above, we conducted activities related to introduction accompanied by education in the form of basic life support training. The purpose of service activities related to basic life support is to introduce basic life support and improve student skills related to basic life support. The basic life support training service activity on Sunday, September 26, 2021, starting at 08.00-13.00 WIB, was attended by 76 participants consisting of 60 women and 16 men, aged 17-22 years old. Participants who participated in basic life support training as much as 72% had never attended training and 28% had attended training. The average pretest score on basic life support training was 58.77 and the posttest average score was 68.42. So based on the results of the pretest and posttest that have been carried out by the basic life support training participants, there was an increase of 16.41%, with this the service activities that we carried out had increased the knowledge of participants who took part in basic life support training.

Teaching parents to serve as interventionists for their children is a common approach to enhance child learning. Research demonstrates that parents are able to implement evidence-based interventions with high integrity; however, there is limited research indicating the extent to which parents are able to maintain skills. We taught parents of two children, age 10 and 11, to implement three positive behavior support skills: praise, choice making, and setting expectations. Using a multiple baseline across skills design, parents demonstrated criterion level use of all three skills; however, only one skill for one parent maintained. We then taught parents to self-monitor the use of skills that did not maintain. Following self-monitoring, parents demonstrated immediate increases in strategy implementation. In addition, both children demonstrated significant increases in engagement and decreases in problem behavior. Social validity results indicated high acceptability by both parents.

Numerous studies around the world report that new teacher induction is particularly critical, with beginning teachers often dropping out of the profession. Coaching, such as that provided by a mentor, occupies a front-line position among the means that can support new teacher induction. But, to ensure fruitful support in terms of professional development for the beginner, the mentor must act with precaution and mobilize several support skills. This is one of the aspects documented in our doctoral research, conducted in the form of a multi-case study and using a qualitative/interpretative approach with four coach-beginner dyads from secondary education in Quebec.
