The air filters applied in utility terrain vehicles (UTVs), which are usually driven on dust-prone unpaved roads, employ a two-stage air cleaner that increases the lifespan of the filter element by using a pre-cleaner stage in the air filter intake housing to centrifugally separate any dust particles contained in the intake air before sending the cleaned air to the primary filter. Thus, maximizing the centrifugation capacity by properly modifying the geometry of the intake air passage in the filter housing is important to ensure engine performance and filter lifespan. The geometry of the pre-cleaner air passage was therefore optimized in this study in terms of the inclination angle and air passage location angle using a computational flow analysis to maximize the centrifugal removal of dust particles. The resulting overall pre-cleaner efficiency and overall pre-cleaner efficiency per pressure drop were then used as the objective functions to maximize the dust particle removal capacity according to centrifugation speed. The method demonstrated in this study for optimizing air filter intake geometry can be used to improve and prolong the performance of UTV engines.

Background The problem faced is overcoming the Overheating of the Screw Air Compressor, the air circulation in the compressor chamber is not good, the Oil has passed the Normal Working Hours, the Oil Separator is clogged, the heat dissipation is blocked in the Coller Unit, the oil filter is clogged with dirt, the Distribution Mechanism in the Oil Filter Housing The unit does not work. Aim of overcoming the overheating that occurs in the compressor which results in a decrease in air pressure on the engine in the production section, knowing the cause of the damage or downtime. Method used is observation of the compressor operation, and checking the compressor engine components. Results and Discussion Overheating on the compressor engine will have an impact on the performance of the engine itself and the air produced. Overheating in the compressor engine is caused by several things including poor air circulation, so the air gets hot and the engine performance decreases. Conclusion minimize damage caused by overheating is to carry out maintenance of the water cooler and oil coller

The air filtration system for an internal combustion engine comprises the air filter, the filter housing and the intake air duct which conducts the air flow from the vehicle grille to the filter housing. This generates gaso-dynamic resistances to the air intake into the engine. The air filter housing and the intake air duct are often mounted in the engine compartment mainly where it fits better and less according to the air flow and noise reduction criteria. The paper aims to show the contribution of the restriction produced by the filter housing and the intake air duct to the total restriction produced by the air filtration system. Several air filtration systems from vehicles fitted with both spark-ignition engines and diesel engines are tested. The results show that the restriction produced by the intake air duct system as well as the air filter housing have a significant contribution to the total restriction produced by the air filtration system of a vehicle engine.
