ABSTRACT Objectives: to analyze the contents on patient safety in the training of nursing technicians. Methods: a documentary study, conducted in three technical nursing courses at a public university in northeastern Brazil, based on the Multi-Professional Patient Safety Curriculum Guide, published by the World Health Organization. Results: we found that, of the 26 subjects in each course, the tracking terms were found in 22 subjects in the A/C courses, 23 in the B course. The topics of the guide with the highest number of terms were the improvement in medication safety, with 85 terms (22.6%), and Infection prevention and control, with 75 terms (20%). The contents do not express the comprehensiveness of patient safety education; some subjects had this focus, while others did not. Conclusions: the documents revealed gaps in the contents related to patient safety and demonstrated that they are addressed only in the course syllabus and discipline plans.

Abstract Purpose Pharmacy technician training and education vary depending on practice site and state law. Although technician certification provides a national standard for credentialing, not all states require it, making certification a voluntary process for technicians or the organizations employing them. As the role of the pharmacist has evolved, the need for highly trained pharmacy technicians has grown. The pharmacy technician’s expanded role in specialized areas of pharmacy practice has created new opportunities that require advanced training. Summary Research is lacking on return on investment for workforce development programs, making it difficult to advocate for pharmacy technician training programs. Therefore, it is important to create internal metrics that link one’s program to business performance. This begins with conducting a job market analysis for the geographic area. It is imperative to identify the current occupational outlook for pharmacy technicians, identifying areas with potential for growth as well as where there are shortages or high turnover. Successful development of an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)–accredited pharmacy technician program requires a long-term strategy to address key market issues as well as social and economic barriers and financial data to secure funding. Conclusion This case study details Yale New Haven Hospital’s journey from proof of concept to implementation of an ASHP-ACPE–accredited pharmacy technician training program.

Computers have been widely used in the community, because computers can ease human work. To operate it, you need special knowledge about computers to be able to run it properly. Although computers make human work easier, computers can also be damaged or error. Only some people can repair computers like computer technicians. Therefore, on this occasion we had the opportunity to provide training on how to assemble computers and repair them. With expertise in assembling and repairing computers, the community can also open up jobs that would certainly have a positive impact on the surrounding community. Computer users / Personal Computers (PC) have been found in various circles, one of them is SMKN2 students. But many computer uses (PC) do not know how to repair a computer in case of damage, not to mention a few technicians or computer experts who can be easily found. Because of this, damage to the computer will be a difficult problem to deal with. Although there are very few technicians that we can find, repairing or servicing computers requires quite expensive costs. On this occasion, we intend to hold community service in the form of PC technician training (Personal Computer) for SMA/SMK students who aim to provide understanding and skills in making repairs, assembling, and upgrading PCs with community service programs in the form of this training. Besides this training is not limited to the provision of theory, but combined with practice so that not only knowledge is given, but the skills and creativity that are honed in this training. Outcomes of this training are skills training services and publications in national service journals.

AbstractHearing healthcare outreach in developing countries is ill defined and inundated with sustainability challenges. One method to facilitate sustainable efforts is by training local personnel on certain aspects of hearing healthcare. The purpose of this descriptive study was to identify the challenges and successes of an audio-technician training program conducted in various regions throughout Guatemala. A collaboration was created between Healing the Children, Centro de Audicion, the University of Washington, and Gallaudet University to create a learning environment for Guatemalan audio-technicians and audiology graduate students. Administration of the audio-technician training component of this program began in 2008 and continues today. Challenges and successes were identified around five themes: (1) audio-technician recruitment and skills upon entering training program; (2) practical and logistical components of clinical training; (3) collaboration and resources for ongoing care; (4) funding for travel, time, and accommodation for personnel involved in training sessions; and (5) cultural differences surrounding our approach to hearing healthcare and training. Approaches to overcome the barriers identified and future directions are discussed.
