In practicality, recurrence analyses of dynamical systems can only process short sections of signals that may be infinitely long. By necessity, the recurrence plot and its quantifications are constrained within a truncated triangle that clips the signals at its borders. Recurrence variables defined within these confining borders can be influenced more or less by truncation effects depending upon the system under evaluation. In this study, the question being asked is what if the boundary borders were tilted, what would be the effect on all recurrence variables? This question was prompted by the observation that line entropy values are maximized for highly periodic systems in which the infinitely long line elements are truncated to different unique lengths. However, by redefining the recurrence plot area to a 45-degree tilted box within the triangular area, the diagonal lines would consequently be truncated to identical lengths. Such masking would minimize the line entropy to 0.000 bits/bin. However, what new truncation influences would be imposed on the other recurrence variables? This question is examined by comparing recurrence variables computed with the triangular recurrence area versus boxed recurrence area. Examples include the logistic equation (mathematical series), the Dow Jones Industrial Average over a decade (real-word data), and a square wave pulse (toy series). Good agreement among the variables in terms of timing and amplitude was found for most, but not all variables. These important results are discussed.

Abstract Aiming at the problem that most of the existing grid simplification algorithms for 3D models can not deal with a large number of boundary or non-popular grid models, this paper proposes a grid simplification algorithm for 3D models based on traditional algorithms. The algorithm mainly studies the geometric features of the model, considering the calculation methods and characteristics of edge shrinkage, and introduces the edge feature factors on the basis of the traditional algorithm, that is, the triangular area and side length factors of local area are introduced in the calculation of folding cost. In addition, the gaussian curvature characteristics of the 3D model are also included. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can keep the detail features of the mesh model well, and greatly reflect the quality and effect of mesh simplification after simplification.

The Palaeozoic archaeorthopteran order Cnemidolestodea Handlirsch, 1937 (sensu Béthoux, 2005; not sensu Aristov, 2014) currently comprises only the family Cnemidolestidae Handlirsch, 1906. They are easily characterized by the presence of a more or less triangular area delimited by the vein MA and the first anterior fork of MP+CuA+CuPa, this last vein having several parallel posterior branches. Dvořák et al. (2021) listed the included genera, and described the new genus and species Piesbergopterum punctatum from the Moscovian of Piesberg (Germany), characterized by the presence of a pattern of rounded spots in numerous cells all over the forewings. Nel & Poschmann (in press) noticed that the Cnemidolestidae show an important diversity of patterns of coloration on their forewings, possibly related to cryptic behaviors in the vegetation.

Jamming is becoming a serious threat to various users of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS). Therefore, live monitoring tests are required to estimate the sensitivity range of GNSS receivers under jamming. This study analyses the response of some mass-market and professional-grade receivers to intentional interferences based on different 3D jammer positions. First, the vertical jamming was investigated, followed by a horizontal experiment where the receivers were placed at three locations while the jammer was moving within a triangular area. The aim was to determine a fingerprint of the influence of the L1/E1 chirp jammer on receivers used in the research. The results show that low-cost receivers are much more susceptible to interference, while the latest generation of GNSS geodetic receivers are much more resilient. It is encouraging that positioning in the presence of jamming could be achieved on a larger scale, especially by using professional receivers. An attempt to position the jammer will be left for trials when a more frequency stable device is applied.

(1) Background: Most of the currently used radiological criteria for craniovertebral junction (CVJ) were developed prior to the popularity of magnetic resonance images (MRIs). This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of a novel triangular area (TA) calculated on MRIs for pathologies at the CVJ. (2) Methods: A total of 702 consecutive patients were enrolled, grouped into three: (a) Those with pathologies at the CVJ (n = 129); (b) those with underlying rheumatoid arthritis (RA) but no CVJ abnormalities (n = 279); and (3) normal (control; n = 294). TA was defined on T2-weighted MRIs by three points: The lowest point of the clivus, the posterior-inferior point of C2, and the most dorsal indentation point at the ventral brain stem. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was used to correlate the prognostic value of the TA with myelopathy. Pre- and post-operative TA values were compared for validation. (c) Results: The CVJ-pathology group had the largest mean TA (1.58 ± 0.47 cm2), compared to the RA and control groups (0.96 ± 0.31 and 1.05 ± 0.26, respectively). The ROC analysis calculated the cutoff-point for myelopathy as 1.36 cm2 with the area under the curve at 0.93. Of the 81 surgical patients, the TA was reduced (1.21 ± 0.37 cm2) at two-years post-operation compared to that at pre-operation (1.67 ± 0.51 cm2). Moreover, intra-operative complete reduction of the abnormalities could further decrease the TA to 1.03 ± 0.39 cm2. (4) Conclusions: The TA, a valid measurement to quantify compression at the CVJ and evaluate the efficacy of surgery, averaged 1.05 cm2 in normal patients, and 1.36 cm2 could be a cutoff-point for myelopathy and of clinical significance.

Now day’s network technology is developing rapidly and the network security is important issue. DoS attack is serious threat in network. Denial of service attack forces victim machine out of service several days or few minutes. DoS attack degrades the system performance. This paper constitutes detecting denial of service attack using Multivariate correlation analysis technique. This approach is used to characterize the features of network traffic.This MCA method consists of Triangular area determination methodology for correlation analysis. Normalization is used before this process to remove the bias from data .Normalization technique has greater impact on the performance.
