The disease caused by this viral infection is called COVID-19. Corona virus can cause mild disorders of the respiratory system, severe lung infections, and even death. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a detrimental impact on society, not only in illness and death but also in various social and economic fields. Vaccination or immunization aims to make a person's immune system able to recognize and quickly fight bacteria or viruses that cause infection. The goal to be achieved by giving the COVID-19 vaccine is to reduce morbidity and mortality due to this virus. This community service carried out by the STIKES Widyagama Husada Community Service volunteer has a goal, namely to help accelerate vaccination in all areas in Malang Regency, especially vaccinations in the community coverage of the Karangploso Health Center area. This Community Service activity is carried out by giving the first dose and the second dose. Vaccination is carried out by home visits and the target is the elderly. The collaboration of Abdimas STIKES Widyagama Husada Malang with medical personnel at the Puskesmas and cadres is well established, with indicators that the implementation of activities runs smoothly and in an orderly manner. The series of procedures for vaccination activities as an effort to accelerate the Covid-19 vaccine run according to the procedure. Keywords: covid 19; vaccination; community service

Purpose This paper presents a large sample study of fire service volunteer motivations in Finland. The purpose of this paper is twofold: first, to explore the differences between initial motivations to begin volunteering vs motivations to continue volunteering; and second, to examine the differences in motivations as a function of demographic variables and geographic region of the fire brigade (rural vs urban). Design/methodology/approach An online survey was completed by 747 fire service volunteers throughout Finland. Findings The initial motivations for joining the brigade differed from those that motivated volunteers to continue in their roles. Significant differences between male and female volunteers’ initial motivations, as well as differences in motivations to continue volunteering as a function of age and region, were found. Research limitations/implications The findings support integrating a psychological, functional perspective with contextual and situational factors when considering volunteer motivations. Originality/value This study suggests a comprehensive understanding of fire service volunteer motivations and informs improved recruitment and retention practices.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine funding models for Open Access (OA) digital data repositories whose costs are not wholly core funded. Whilst such repositories are free to access, they are not without significant cost to build and maintain and the lack of both full core costs and a direct funding stream through payment-for-use poses a considerable financial challenge, placing their future and the digital collections they hold at risk. Design/methodology/approach – The authors document 14 different potential funding streams for OA digital data repositories, grouped into six classes (institutional, philanthropy, research, audience, service, volunteer), drawing on the ongoing experiences of seeking a sustainable funding for the Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI). Findings – There is no straight forward solution to funding OA digital data repositories that are not wholly core funded, with a number of general and specific challenges facing each repository, and each funding model having strengths and weaknesses. The proposed DRI solution is the adoption of a blended approach that seeks to ameliorate cyclical effects across funding streams by generating income from a number of sources rather than overly relying on a single one, though it is still reliant on significant state core funding to be viable. Practical implications – The detailing of potential funding streams offers practical financial solutions to other OA digital data repositories which are seeking a means to become financially sustainable in the absence of full core funding. Originality/value – The review assesses and provides concrete advice with respect to potential funding streams in order to help repository owners address the financing conundrum they face.

This survey evaluated the influences of motivational functions, gender, age, and religiosity on two facets of volunteerism in Singapore. The two facets evaluated were length of service and fulfillment of duty commitments. One hundred and twenty-eight volunteers (Mage = 44.9 years; SD = 11.7 years; age range: 24–71 years) from a Singapore volunteer welfare organisation filled out 3 questionnaires: the Volunteer Functions Inventory (VFI; Clary et al., 1998), a questionnaire on facets of volunteerism, and a questionnaire on demographic data. Volunteer functions of these Singaporean volunteers were found to be similar to those of other cultures in the world. Values were the most important volunteer function. Age, frequency of worship, and volunteer functions were positively related to length of service. Volunteer functions were positively associated with fulfillment of duty commitments. No gender differences were found in the levels of volunteerism. The results suggested that the lower levels of volunteerism in Singapore might be the result of factors other than motivation functions. The result also highlighted that beyond motivational functions and demographics, other factors could influence facets of volunteerism.

AbstractAustralian communities are very dependent on volunteer-based fire services for protection against fires and other hazards. However, overall volunteer numbers have declined significantly over the past decade, due mostly to the impact of economic and demographic changes on Australian society. One effect of these is that volunteer fire service memberships are ageing. Little is known with certainty about what motivates individuals to become fire service volunteers. A survey of 455 CFA volunteers suggested that those who volunteer do so because of a mix of community-safety, community-contribution, and self-oriented motivations. It appears that younger volunteers are more likely to be motivated by self-oriented perceived benefits from volunteering compared with older volunteers. However, they are no less motivated, on average, by community-safety concerns and community contribution desires than are older volunteers.
