The subject of this article will be the analysis of the application of two modern linguistic approaches to the ancient text. It is about M. Halliday's systemic functional linguistics (SFL) and critical discourse analysis (CDA) through whose patterns we will analyze Suetonius' account of two Roman emperors, Augustus and Nero. Since the language is a strong link between SFL as a linguistic approach and CDA, a movement that unites several different disciplines, including linguistic ones, focused on social change, this article will try to shed light on the role, connection and effectiveness of SFL and CDA in a biographical presentation of a personalities. Critical discourse analysis defines language as a social practice, an essential component of creating social relations and changing them; therefore, it focuses on the language in use - discourse, and analyzes it within the broader social, political, historical, cultural and any other context in which it is realized.

It is well established that student evaluations of teaching in universities have long been contested. Many see value in them for ongoing improvement and to hold faculty to account for their pedagogical practice. However, the anonymity of these online surveys that permit students enrolled in units to provide feedback on teaching and learning can produce ‘keyboard warriors’. Anonymous surveys can serve to provide a platform for students to engage in cyber-aggressive behaviours that are damaging for staff health and wellbeing and are of a concern to workplace safety. We draw on published results from an existing study of student evaluations of teaching to signal that in the worst instances student evaluations of teaching evoke student cyberaggression.

This paper explores the usage of devices of syntactic stylistics in contemporary Russian comics. The research aims to determine the functions that are achieved through elements of expressive syntax. The objective is to explore comics style in general, as well as devices on the phonostylistic, graphostylistic and the lexical stylistics plane. During the research, the analytic and synthetic method of scientific research was used, as well as the procedure of modern stylistic and syntactic analysis. The paper collects and analyzes examples of contemporary Russian comics that contain the following devices of syntactic stylistics: ellipsis, parcellation, nominative clauses, inversion and ecphonesis. The conclusion reached is that expressive syntax devices, as well as numerous other stylistic devices, are very frequently used in Russian comics. The function of these devises consists in conveying the features of conversational style, heroes’ emotional states, their relation to specific events, in achieving the verbal characterization of characters, in conveying the dynamics of action, emphasizing messages, as well as in formulating a concise expression which constitutes one of the main distinctive features of comics style.

This paper examines the links between the media and the political system in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Hallin and Mancini's approach to the analysis of media and political systems is briefly presented, which examines in detail the connections between the media and politics. Then, the peculiarities of the development of the media system in BiH are presented. The central thesis is that the political instrumentalization of the media has a long tradition in BiH and that, despite comprehensive international intervention in the media sector, it has remained an important tool for shaping the media system and further deepens its polarization. Consequently, the gap between the established normative framework and the way the media system functions is widening every day.

The purpose of this article is to shed light on the representation of ‘the Other’ in three Shakespearean dramas: Sir Thomas More, The Merchant of Venice and The Tempest. The article describes several Shakespearean characters through the prism of post-colonialism and, therefore, the paper is structured as the postcolonial re-reading of the aforementioned dramatic texts. William Shakespeare portrayed the sad fate of immigrants in Sir Thomas More, but the Bard also tackled the refugee issue which remains relevant for the contemporary period. Additionally, Shakespeare dramatized the position of the Jewish community in Venice through the portrayal of Shylock. The re-reading of The Tempest focuses on the process of colonisation and the Manichaean division within the conquered world. In conclusion, the article portrays experiences of those dramatic individuals stigmatised and subjugated by the colonial forces, thus allowing the readers to better understand the binary division within colonial systems.
