Human health and well-being largely depend on a sufficient standard of living, educational opportunities and participation in social and social life, and successful professional activities. It should be recognized that in the surrounding society it is in these areas of life that people with disabilities and disabilities are especially disadvantaged, but not neglected by society and the state. Currently, in the Russian Federation, the State programme Accessible Environment is being implemented to support and assist persons with disabilities and disabilities, with the aim of creating legal, economic and institutional conditions conducive to the integration of persons with disabilities into society and improving their quality of life. The programme contains three subprogrammes that are effectively implemented in modern society, namely: (1) Ensuring the accessibility of priority facilities and services in priority areas of life of persons with disabilities and other mobile populations; (2) Improvement of the system of comprehensive rehabilitation and habilitation of persons with disabilities; (3) Improvement of the state system of medical and social expertise. The organizers of the Abilimpix social movement were able to demonstrate to people with disabilities their individual capabilities and prospects for accessibility to all types, forms and means of obtaining knowledge and professional skills, their effective application in practice.

Disability is a wide concept, encompassing different types of disability, different capabilities of people with disabilities and different social support needs. People with intellectual disabilities belong to a specific group. They do not fit into the mainstream of support and activation measures for disabled people. Although they are a small group (about 1%), they require care which is not provided within the current social policy towards people with disabilities. The article provides examples of public activities unfavourable and favourable for the well-being of people with intellectual disabilities. This could be a starting point for a preparation of a policy project of accurate public support for this group of people

This chapter sets out the connection between disability and human rights, examining how persons with disabilities (including those with physical disabilities, sensory disabilities, psychosocial or mental health disabilities, and intellectual disabilities) are particularly vulnerable to exclusion and discrimination, leading to human rights violations across the world. It has been a long global struggle to recognize the rights of people with disabilities and realize the highest attainable standard of physical, mental, and social well-being, a struggle evolving across countries and culminating in the 2006 adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). The provisions of the CRPD relate to three specific rights that are of particular importance to people with disabilities: legal capacity, the right to health, and the right to independent living. Yet, national implementation challenges remain, including finding space for mental health and disability in policymaking and developing models of service delivery that advance human rights.

The article discusses the idea that children with movement disorders have great potential for motor and mental development. The experiment consists of two stages. In the first stage of the experiment, the characteristics of disability in children and adolescents (between age 12 and 16) with Infantile Cerebral Palsy are determined. During this stage, two diagnostic methods, bodily “Me” and “The Color-A-Person Body Dissatisfaction Test,” are used.In the second phase of the research program, social pedagogical aids for people with disabilities have been developed. On the basis of the experimental work, the obtained social pedagogical insights have been successfully implemented in the social adaption of disabled children.It is determined that this method is promising to help adults and children with mobility impairment to enhance their mental well-being, attain a positive body image, express their feelings freely, interact socially using a motor component, and above all—enjoy the movements. This method can ensure the effectiveness of social adaptation of persons with disabilities.

Abstract Purpose Studies are increasingly showing that health related stigma is a barrier to employment, but it is not known how. The aim of this systematic review is to identify, appraise and analyse studies that have directly or indirectly addressed ways in which stigma affects sustainable employment and well-being at work of people with disabilities. Methods Using a multiphase screening process, this review is based on a comprehensive literature search (2000–2019) carried out in six electronic databases: Embase, Web of Science, Medline Ovid, Cochrane CENTRAL, PsycINFO and Google Scholar. Results 7.263 publications were identified; 96 studies were found eligible to be included in the review. 72% of the studies were conducted in North America or Europe. Few studies directly assessed how stigma affects the employment of people with disabilities. Most studies highlighted that attitudes and behaviour of employers formed a barrier to employment, as well as anticipated stigma and self-stigma in people with health problems. However, the findings also showed that the attitudes and behaviour of co-workers, health care professionals, reintegration professionals, customers, and family and friends could act as a barrier to employment although these influences are under-researched. Although many similarities were seen in the relevant findings of studies about both physical and mental disabilities, several nuances were found. Conclusion Stigma hampers sustainable employment and well-being in multiple ways. Whereas the number of publications on this topic is rapidly increasing, the roles of health care professionals, reintegration professionals, co-workers, customers, and family and friends particularly warrant more attention.

Abstract While the capability approach is increasingly being adopted for evaluating well-being and social justice in the field of human development, this approach in disaster research has remained scarce. This research thus seeks to address the disaster risk that humans face through a lens of capabilities, with a focus on the lives of people with disabilities. A multi-case study approach was adopted and two rural communes in Vietnam were selected as study contexts. Data were collected using focus group discussions and interviews that involved people with disabilities, parents/caregivers of people with intellectual/psychosocial disabilities, and representatives from related organizations. It was found that people with disabilities are affected by disasters due to the lack of capabilities that they value in coping with disasters. A range of capabilities that people with disabilities value was revealed in the study sites, with many being valued not only in times of disasters but also in daily life. The findings also highlight that, to actualize their valued capabilities, people with disabilities need access not only to resources but also to the factors that enable them to convert the resources to their valued capabilities. In most cases, the limitations to the achievement of capabilities are related to the external environment.

Although nearly 30 years have passed since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Soviet stereotypes about the people with disabilities, including their ability to be active consumers and developers of culture, still are alive in the post-Soviet countries. Until today, In Latvia there is no research conducted on the opportunities for this group of people to experience their rights to be involved in cultural life both as cultural consumers and creators. Therefore, my research subject is people with disabilities, their artistic practices and their interaction with audience leaving impact on their social integration process. During the case study the survey results of participants are analysed after three concerts with the participation of people with disabilities. The survey results reflect the attitude of the audience towards the ability of this group to discover themselves as artists on the stage . We can confidently say that the concert goers acquire more information about people with disabilities and that this information helps them to be accepted as members of an inclusive society. The survey results also confirm that people with disabilities implementing artistic practices also indirectly contribute to the promotion of social and psychological well-being as well as health functions. These factors contribute to their social inclusion process. A report will also be provided on the feedback received from the electronic surveying of audience of the concerts where people with disabilities took part as artists, as well as from in-depth interviews.
