This paper takes UGNX6.0 as the development platform, by using its UG/KF development tools, fusing feature and knowledge together, so as to realize the process associated with the geometric design knowledge and stamping process design. Based on the features of stamping process, the classification of stamping process knowledge has been studied. With the object-oriented method, the rule-based and instance-based technology for expressing and acquiring the stamping process knowledge is discussed. Based on this, the stamping process model driven by knowledge has been established. It showed the importance of the CAD technology in designing of relatively complex progressive dies. Based on the knowledge engineering process designed, the degree of intelligence stampings process design has been enhanced, design quality and efficiency has been improved, and the dependence of the process design experience of designers has been reduced.

Several examples of successful expert systems applications are presented. Examples of expert systems as applied in process planning, operations planning, inventory control, process design, quality control and scheduling are covered, and the performance of these expert systems is described. Expert systems will become an essential part of computer‐integrated manufacturing (CIM) and flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) because they can perform several of the tasks mentioned above.

AbstrakKeputusan manajemen operasional banyak dibahas pada industri besar, tetapi seringkali terabaikan untuk usaha kecil. Obyek penelitian adalah UKM Whisnu yang bergerak dibidang kerajinan tangan yaitu cor kuningan. Meskipun dalam proses operasional UKM Whisnu masih menggunakan peralatan manual dan proses produksi memiliki ketergantungan yang tinggi dari kreativitas karyawan, produk handmade cor kuningan UKM Whisnu memiliki permintaan yang cukup tinggi setiap bulannya. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksploratif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data menggunakan observasi dan wawancara secara langsung dengan pemilik UKM Whisnu. Teknik analisis data penelitian terdiri dari empat tahapan yaitu pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian sepuluh keputusan operasional yang sudah dijalankan oleh pemilik UKM selaku manajer operasional berkaitan dengan perancansgan produk, pengelolan kualitas, perancangan proses, perancangan kapasitas, strategi lokasi, strategi tata letak, perancangan sumber daya manusia dan perancangan pekerjaan, pengelolaan rantai pasokan, pengeloaan persediaan dan perencanaan kebutuhan bahan baku, dan pemeliharaan. Abstract      Operational management decisions are mostly discussed in large industries, but are often overlooked for small businesses. The object of the research is SME Whisnu which is engaged in handicraft ie brass cast. Although in SME Whisnu's operational process still using manual equipment and production process has high dependence of employee creativity, SME Whisnu brass handmade products have high demand every month. This type of research is explorative with a qualitative approach. Techniques used to collect using observations and interviews directly with the owner of SME Whisnu. Technique of research data analysis consist of four stages that is data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of the ten operational decisions conducted by the owners of SMEs as operational managers related to product design, quality management, process design, capacity design, location strategy, layout strategy, human resource design and job design, supply chain management, inventory management and raw material requirements planning, and maintenance.

Lyophilization is widely used in the preservation of thermolabile products. The main shortcoming is the long processing time. Lyophilization processes are mostly based on a recipe that is not changed, but, with the Quality by Design (QbD) approach and use of Process Analytical Technology (PAT), the process duration can be optimized for maximum productivity while ensuring product safety. In this work, an advanced PAT approach is used for the endpoint determination of primary drying. Manometric temperature measurement (MTM) and comparative pressure measurement are used to determine the endpoint of the batch while a modeling approach is outlined that is able to calculate the endpoint of every vial in the batch. This approach can be used for process development, control and optimization.

The A new design method of the products named “Systematize Design” has been advanced in this paper. From the view of the point of the system engineering, the planning of product design makes the product design qualities improve to a great extent. Besides the understanding of the client requirements, the design planning of products, the so-called 7D’s: Design ideas, Design environments, Design objective, Design process, Design contents, Design methods and the Design quality evaluation, should be considered completely and planned systematically. Based on the previous work, the product design should be conducted according to the systematic design method. The paper makes a detailed expatiation of the systematic design method, viz. 1+3+X design method, in which 1 represents the optimal design for product functions, 3 means the design method synthesizing the dynamic optimization, intelligent optimization and visualized optimization combined organically, and X is the design method for the special requirements of the products.

This article introduces parameterized drawing technology on complete film evaporators by the classification of parameterized drawing strategy. And by sample of film evaporators parts graph drawing process, parametric parts prints and the assembly drawing strategy in detail. Development of aided design software of film evaporators would help users realize integration design of process design, and can greatly shorten the development cycle of the products, improve the design quality and enhance the competitiveness of their products.

Aerospace-grade composite parts can be manufactured using Vacuum Bag Only prepregs through an accurate process design. Quality in the desired part can be realized by following process modeling, process optimization, and validation, which strongly depend on a primary and systematic material characterization methodology of the prepreg system and material constitutive behavior. The present study introduces a systematic characterization approach of a Vacuum Bag Only prepreg by covering the relevant material properties in an integrated manner with the process mechanisms of fluid flow, consolidation, and heat transfer. The characterization recipe is practiced under the categories of (i) resin system, (ii) fiber architecture, and (iii) thermal behavior. First, empirical models are successively developed for the cure-kinetics, glass transition temperature, and viscosity for the resin system. Then, the fiber architecture of the uncured prepreg system is identified with X-ray tomography to obtain the air permeability. Finally, the thermal characteristics of the prepreg and its constituents are experimentally characterized by adopting a novel specimen preparation technique for the specific heat capacity and thermal conductivity. Thus, this systematic approach is designed to provide the material data to process modeling with the motivation of a robust and integrated Vacuum Bag Only process design.
