RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar se o instrumento genérico Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL 4.0) é aplicável à avaliação da qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde (QVRS) de crianças asmáticas, quando comparado ao instrumento específico Pediatric Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire (PAQLQ). Métodos: Foram avaliadas 30 crianças com idade entre sete e onze anos de idade e diagnóstico de asma havia, pelo menos, seis meses. Ambos os questionários foram respondidos no mesmo dia, por meio de entrevista. Os dados foram analisados com o auxílio do Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), versão 20.0, atribuindo-se o nível de significância de 5%. Resultados: Não ocorreram diferenças significativas na qualidade de vida das crianças avaliadas de acordo os sexos. As crianças asmáticas classificadas como praticantes e não praticantes de atividade física obtiveram escores significativamente diferentes no domínio relacionado à saúde física (PedsQL 4.0). Crianças com diferentes níveis de gravidade e controle da asma apresentaram diferenças significativas nos escores obtidos em dois dos três domínios avaliados por meio do PAQLQ. Ao serem avaliadas com o instrumento PedsQL 4.0, nenhuma diferença significativa foi observada na qualidade de vida das crianças com diferentes níveis de controle e gravidade da asma. As medidas de qualidade de vida de crianças asmáticas obtidas pelos instrumentos PedsQL 4.0 e PAQLQ apresentaram correlação moderada e significativa (r=0,415, p=0,02). Conclusões: O instrumento PedsQL 4.0 diferenciou as crianças com diferentes níveis de atividade física. No entanto, ele não foi sensível para diferenciar a qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde em crianças com diferentes níveis de gravidade e controle da asma.

The study of subjective welfare or quality of life perceived (QoL) is a topic of nowadays in the Social Sciences, due to the implications that these studies have for design and evaluation social and economic policies. This paper focuses in two tasks main: a) measure the QoL of the homes of the city of Medellin-Colombia, using conventional techniques multivariate statistics to produce an indicator; and b) by means of the indicator, analyze if the living standard of the Medellin’s homes is distributed randomly on the space or present a significant association of similar (dissimilar) values between near zones. The results show that QoL spatially varying distribution in the city of Medellin y que existen clústeres de barrios donde, de acuerdo a las variables del indicador considerado, se concentran la mejor y la peor calidad de vida percibida por sus ciudadanos. Estos resultados muestran que en las zonas centro-oeste y sureste de la ciudad se concentran las mejores condiciones, mientras que en el resto de la ciudad se encuentran las mayores necesidades.

Este estudo tem como objetivo investigar a qualidade de vida e o cotidiano de cuidadores de pacientes hospitalizados. Para coleta de dados, foi utilizado como instrumento de pesquisa o WHOQOL – Bref e um questionário estruturado. Os dados foram analisados pelo programa Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Dos 19 sujeitos investigados, 100% eram cuidadores informais; 10,53 % não tinham laços parentais com o paciente e 89% eram do gênero feminino. Quanto à percepção destes em relação à qualidade de vida, 52,6% a consideram-na boa, e quanto ao quesito saúde, 52,6% disseram estar satisfeitos neste aspecto. Visto que a percepção em relação à qualidade de vida e saúde foi favorável, observou-se que outros fatores relacionados à qualidade de vida, como: sono, lazer, relações sociais e outros estavam prejudicados. As condições emocionais e de ambiência do hospital foram investigadas apontando fragilidades. Os resultados indicaram prejuízos na qualidade de vida e no cotidiano dos cuidadores pesquisados. AbstractThe purpose of this study is to investigate the quality of life in the everyday routine of hospitalized patient caregivers. For data collection, WHOQOL - Bref and a structured questionnaire was used as research instruments, and the data were analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Of the 19 people investigated, 100% were informal caregivers; 10.53% have no parental ties with the patient; and 89% were female. Regarding the perception of these in relation to quality of life, 5.3% consider it very bad and about the health quality, 5.3% exposed being very dissatisfied while 10.5% are just dissatisfied. Despite the favorable perception of the quality of life and health, it was observed that another factors associated to life quality like sleep, leisure, social relationships and others were harmed. The emotional ambience and hospital conditions were investigated and the results indicate that the quality of life and routine of the caregivers who have participated in the survey were affected.Keywords: Caregivers; Quality of life; Occupational therapy.

Introdução: O diabetes mellitus por se tratar de uma doença progressiva com tendência ao desenvolvimento de complicações crônicas ao decorrer da vida, impõem na vida dos indivíduos acometidos uma série de limitações que influenciam diretamente na qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde. Objetivo: Estimar a percepção da qualidade de vida de pacientes insulinodependentes, testando sua associação com o controle glicêmico. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo corte transversal, desenvolvido dentro de uma abordagem quantitativa, cuja coleta de dados foi realizada por meio do instrumento brasileiro resumido Diabetes Quality of Life Measure (DQOL-Brasil-8). A amostra foi constituída por indivíduos acompanhados no programa de automonitoramento glicêmico, em duas Farmácias Públicas Distritais no interior da Bahia. Utilizou-se o software Microsoft Office Excel 2010® e o Statistical Package for the Social Sciences para processamento dos dados e realização de análises descritivas. O estudo foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa (número 3.419.915). Resultados: Foram elegíveis 125 pacientes, no qual observou-se o predomínio de (62,4%; n=78) do sexo feminino e (82,4%; n=103) dos indivíduos referiu diagnóstico de DM2. Somente (13,6%; n=17) dos pacientes apresentaram diabetes controlada. No domínio satisfação, (28,8%; n=36) estão médio satisfeitos com a dieta e vida sexual. Cerca de (50,4%; n=63) dos pacientes se sentem incomodados por ter diabetes e para (48,8%; n=61) a diabetes não interfere na realização de exercícios físicos. Em relação a preocupações sociais/vocacionais, ter filhos não é uma preocupação para (92,8%; n=116) dos indivíduos. Quanto a preocupação com a ocorrência de complicações decorrentes da diabetes e desmaios, (63,2%; n=79) e (31,2%; n=39) estão sempre preocupados. A média geral alcançada pelos domínios avaliados foi de (2,68), indicando uma qualidade de vida regular. Discussão/Conclusão: Pode-se perceber que questões abordadas frequentemente em estudos, ainda influenciam negativamente a vida dos pacientes levando a interferências na qualidade de vida. Desse modo, os achados subjetivos que o instrumento proporciona pode servir como base para profissionais de saúde que desenvolvem atividades clinico-assistenciais, visando incentivar esses profissionais a traçar novas estratégias de cuidado e tornar a monitorização da qualidade de vida dos pacientes diabéticos uma ação rotineira.

Objetivou-se identificar o uso de práticas integrativas, espirituais e avaliar a qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde de pacientes adultos com câncer durante o tratamento quimioterápico. Pesquisa quantitativa e transversal realizada com 275 pacientes durante quimioterapia em um hospital de Minas Gerais. Instrumentos utilizados: questionário sociodemográfico e clínico e Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core30 (QLQ-C30) com análise de dados pelo software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) (for Windows). A maioria dos entrevistados era mulher, entre 40 a 79 anos, casadas, aposentadas, com baixo nível de escolaridade e baixa renda. Os cânceres mais prevalentes foram colorretal, mama e estômago. Apenas 13 (4,9%) pacientes utilizavam alguma prática integrativa como fitoterapia, homeopatia, meditação, floral e acupuntura. Cerca de 94 (34,2%) indivíduos realizavam terapia espiritual com predominância da oração, passes, água fluidificada e promessa. Houve nível adequado/satisfatório (escores entre 50 e 70) da qualidade de vida e das funções avaliadas.

Quality of life and satisfaction with life as tightly interconnected concepts have become of much importance in the urbanism era. No doubt, it is one of the most important goals of every human society to enhance a citizen’s quality of life and to increase their satisfaction with life. However, there are many signs which demonstrate the low level of life satisfaction of Iranian citizens especially among the youth. Thus, considering the temporal concept of life satisfaction, this research aims to make a futures study in this field. Therefore, using a mixed model and employing research methods from futures studies, life satisfaction among the students of the University of Tehran were measured and their views on this subject investigated. Both quantitative and qualitative data were analysed together in order to test the hypotheses and to address the research questions on the youth discontentment with quality of life. Findings showed that the level of life satisfaction among students is relatively low and their image of the future is not positive and not optimistic. These views were elicited and discussed in the social, economic, political, environmental and technological perspectives. Keywords:  futures studies, quality of life, satisfaction with life, youth

This article is devoted to the application of an integrated approach in the study of the quality of life of the population of the North Ossetia. Aspects of the specifity of objective and subjective approaches are substantiated. The increasing importance of the concept of “quality of life” in the XXI century is indicated. A review of sociological studies of the level and quality of life in Russia, as well as a range of monographic works on the analyzed issues. The results of empirical sociological studies in 2014 and 2018 (a study of the quality and standard of living of the population of North Ossetia and a study of the social wellbeing of the population of North Ossetia using the methodology developed by Lapin N. I. and Belyaeva L. A.) are presented.

Studies have shown that children and adolescents with autism and their relatives present a high level of stress and more family problems, impacting parents’ and caregivers’ quality of life (QoL). Despite studies on this subject, there is no specific questionnaire to evaluate QoL in parents or caregivers of children and adolescents with an autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) in Brazil. Therefore, this study’s primary purpose was to develop and validate a specific questionnaire to evaluate QoL in these individuals. The study was performed using the following steps: development of the ASD Parent/caregiver QoL questionnaire (autistic spectrum disorder parent/caregiver quality of life—ASDPC-QoL), subjective evaluation, validation of the questionnaire by the Delphi method, assessment of internal consistency, responsiveness, and reliability of the ASLPC-QoL, and administration of the questionnaire to 881 Brazilian ASD caregivers or parents. ASDPC-QoL comprises 28 questions divided into four domains (social, concerns, physical and mental health) with good psychometric properties (reproducibility, reliability, internal consistency, responsiveness, and validity). Our data showed that worries and physical health were the domains with the lowest scores in ASDPCA-QoL. ASDPCA-QoL did not differ among gender and age of child considering the total and all domains. Older participants (≥41 y/o) presented the best scores for social and worries domains but did not differ in other domains and the total. Parents or caregivers of ASD children diagnosed for more than three years have better mental and physical health domains than those recently diagnosed (up to 1 year) but did not differ in the total and other domains. Individuals with a partner and with the highest educational level present the best score for the social domain. Employed individuals showed better scores than unemployed ones for all domains and the total, except for worries, which did not differ. It also occurred comparing the individuals that do not use antidepressants and the ones that use them. Assessing and better understanding the QoL of caregivers is highly relevant. By understanding the social, worries, physical, and emotional health domains of caregivers, it is possible to track harmful aspects, prevent and treat pathologies, in addition to assisting in the implementation of effective public policies.
