Aims:The foliar residues of Mangiferaindica tree are usually burned or used for soil amelioration except nominal uses as fodder.Methods:To add value to this agricultural waste, extracts of the leafy residues of M. indica were studied to analyze their potential as antioxidants and to inhibit the enzymes related to the management of diabetes, Alzheimer’s Disease (AD), hepatic disorders as well as to identify important phytochemicals present in the extracts.Results:Results depicts that the leaves have notable bioactivities. The methanol extract (ME) showed much potential than ethyl acetate fraction after hydrolysis (HME) against α-amylase and α- glucosidase. The activity against the enzyme β-glucuronidase was also higher than that of the commercial β- glucuronidase inhibitor. The extract after hydrolysis showed better antioxidant and acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activities. Detection of important phytochemicals such as chrysin and myricetn, alizarin, arbutin, hydroquinone, tyrosol, taxifolin, kaempferol, mangiferin, and the vitamin alpha tocophereol, in addition to a number of organic acids, amino acids, fatty acids, sugars and polyols by GC-MS and HPTLC based analysis of the extract of M. indica leaf, also suggest the use of the leaves as sources of these important phytochemicals.Conclusion:More concisely HME with more number of detected metabolites found better to be used against oxidative stress as well as enzymes related to neural and liver disorders than that of ME.

Dental caries/Tooth decay is progressive destruction of tooth structure, leading to tooth ache. Tooth ache is the most common type of orofacial pain and when severe it is considered a dental emergency. Pain killers will be the first option to get rid of pain but use of these pain killers have many adverse effects and also its over prescription leads to kidney disorders, liver disorders etc. and in Ayurveda for the management of pain in Krimidanta it is mentioned that, Krimighna (anti-microbial), Vatagna (which relieves Vata) and Ushnaveerya Dravyas (drugs with hot potency) are to be used which can relieve the toothache and discolouration. Hence here an attempt was made to find out an alternate medicine which is effective, has no contraindications and with no side effects. Here the patient was treated with Dantapichu (soaked cotton swab) with Katuparni Ksheera (milk of Argemone Mexicana Linn.) as a local application. After the treatment, a significant response in various symptoms such as tooth pain, tingling sensation and swelling was observed.

This chapter describes occupational and environmental liver disorders. It describes the types of liver function and types of liver damage, and how these functions and this damage can be assessed. Workers in healthcare and solid waste management are at increased risk hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus infections. Occupational exposure to swine is associated with hepatitis E virus infection. More than 100 industrial chemicals can be acutely hepatotoxic in experimental animals or humans. Metabolic reactions may affect the hepatotoxicity of chemicals. Occupational exposure to organic solvents can cause toxic hepatitis. Occupational exposure to vinyl chloride monomer has been causally associated with toxicant-associated fatty liver disease as well as a form of non-cirrhotic portal hypertension. Several agents can cause cancer of the liver or bile ducts. Vinyl chloride monomer is causally associated with angiosacoma of the liver. Arsenic causes liver cancer. Dietary exposure to aflatoxins can cause hepatoceulluar carcinoma.

Primary central nervous system lymphoma is a rare but highly aggressive form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that remains confined to the CNS neuroaxis. The diagnosis of PCNSL requires a high level of suspicion as clinical presentation varies depending on the involved CNS areas. Neurological symptoms and MRI findings may mimic gliomas, demyelinating lesions, or infectious and granulomatous diseases. Almost all PCNSL patients undergo invasive surgical procedures for definite diagnosis. Stereotactic biopsy is still the gold standard in achieving a diagnostic accuracy of 73–97%. Both the potential procedural morbidity and mortality, as well as the time to definite histopathologic diagnosis resulting in delays of treatment initiation, have to be considered. On the contrary, minimally invasive procedures, such as MRI, CSF cytology, and flow cytometry, still have limited value due to inferior specificity and sensitivity. Hence, novel diagnostic approaches, including mutation analyses (MYD88) in circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) and the determination of microRNAs (miR-21, miR-19b, and miR-92) as well as cytokine levels (IL10 and IL6) in blood, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and vitreous fluid (VRF), move into the focus of investigation to facilitate the diagnosis of PCNSL. In this review, we outline the most promising approaches that are currently under clinical consideration.
