Occupational, health and safety system (OHS) is a sensitive item for each organization. Health and safety is part of the business, just like production and quality. Therefore, it should be managed in the same way as other aspects of business. This study investigated the safety culture and behavior between the labors, assess the implemented safety system and evaluate the surround environmental workplace. Field data were collected from different sources, i.e. questionnaire, interview, personal observation and documentary evidence. From collected results, the occupational health and safety measures implemented in some workplaces are not sufficient and some workers are dissatisfied with the current occupational health and safety measures. Health and safety should be the concern of each worker in the organization and this can only be achieved when serious training and education is carried out. Also, monitoring, inspection and evaluate existing health and safety measures on regular basis is very important for improvement and control the risk to achieve occupational health for the port man-power.

Background: All over the world nearly 860,000 people are injured every day and 2.3 million deaths occur annually due to occupational accidents and work-related diseases.There are limited studies that specifically determine the knowledge of waste handlers on occupational health problems and associated factors of occupational health problems and injuries in waste handlersin context of Nepal. Therefore, this studyaimed to assess the knowledge of waste handlers on occupational health and safety practices and its association with utilization of PPEs along with the condition of occupational health problems and injuries and factors associated with them among the waste handlers of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional survey was conducted among selected 355 solid waste collectors by using semi-structured questionnaire and observation checklist, which was completed from March 2016 to May 2016. The data was entered into SPSS 20 version for analysis and a chi-square test was performed to see the presence of the association between the dependent and selected independent variables.Results: Among total respondents (355) surveyed 51.5% had got knowledge on occupational health hazard, 16.1 %  had got the knowledge to prevent from work-related health risks, 29% had got knowledge about PPEs and  31.5% had got knowledge about PPEs utilization. About 45.8% of the study participants had practices of the utilization of PPEs. Majority of the respondents i.e. 63.7% reported that they were suffering from occupational health problems. The evidence of the occupational health injuries was found to be low i.e. 25.4%. Similarly, variables which had significant influence on the occupational health problems were knowledge on occupational health hazard (p=0.016), work experience (p=0.021), health checkup (p=0.042) and for the occupational health injuries were monthly income(p=0.036), knowledge to prevent from health risk (p=0.001), gender (p=0.02), and knowledge of occupational health hazard (p=0.011), work experience (p= 0.025), work type (p=0.001), knowledge on PPEs ( p=0.034) and knowledge on work-related health risks (p= 0.027).Conclusion: Based on this study, its recommended to improve occupational health and safety practices. The purpose of the research is to present a statistical approach using latent and manifest variables applied to measure the occupational health and safety performance of a worldwide enterprise (energy sector) located in Casablanca, Kingdom of Morocco. The principal idea is to measure the impact of occupational health and safety practices OHS (which are divided into seven segments: Leadership and worker participation, Planning, Support, Operation, Improvement, Performance evaluation and Organizational context) on the OHS performance (which is divided into two perspectives: (Workers Results perspectives and Finance Results perspectives), enabling the company to characterize her performance regarding to the ISO 45001 standard's. To do this, we use the SEM’s resolution based on the Partial Least squares (PLS) method via the XL-STAT software on a sample of 139 questionnaires administered face-to-face with managers, technicians, engineers and directors of this company. The obtained results could be examined in order to analyze the occupational health and safety management system performance, in order to reveal the challenges faced by company to maintain the ISO 45001 and to make suggestion to improve operational health and safety process, plan the improvements and develop an action plan.

Construction is a high-risk industry owning to several accidents that take place in construction sites. Fatalities and workplace injuries are a major issue. Construction managers concentrate on profitability as far as cost, quality, and time are concerned. Unless experts end up mindful of safety-related issues, development tasks can never reach their targets. The main aim of this paper is to review the literature that highlights the result of the implementation of occupational health and safety practices in construction sites. The research examines the impact of the implementation on the number of accidents in construction sites and the precautions that should be taken into consideration starting from the pre-construction stage. Previous research suggested that early introduction of occupational safety & health management systems (OHSMS) and elements within the project implementation is an important asset in decision-making. It aims toward the abatement of occupational hazards in the workplace. The paper explores through a literature review the root causes of construction accidents and factors causing risks in construction sites. The research explains OSHMS, and its effects, and how they can be integrated into the pre-construction stage in projects. The impact of the implementation of occupational health and safety practices at construction sites will be discussed as well. The study concluded that due to implementing OHSMS, there is a significant reduction in accidents. In order to improve security and health, safety measures should be included starting from the preparation of contract documents. It is recommended that the managers of top construction companies commit more to safety and health procedures. There is a need to provide funding for the regulatory body that oversees health and safety in the construction industry.
