This paper studies the effect of social learning on political outcomes in a model of informative campaign advertising. Voters' communication network affects parties' incentives to disclose political information, voters' learning about candidates running for office, and polarization of the electoral outcome. In richer communication networks, parties disclose less political information and voters are more likely to possess erroneous beliefs about the characteristics of the candidates. In turn, a richer communication network among voters may lead to political polarization. These results are reinforced when interpersonal communication occurs more frequently among ideologically homogeneous individuals and parties can target political advertising. As the pivotal intermediary guiding public opinion in the interpersonal communication network, opinion leader’s discovery and identification have great social significance. Aiming at the existing problem of IDM models and its related model, this paper proposed a Influence diffusion model based on semantic orientation, which combines semantic understanding to reduce the diffusion of mendacious influence, analyzing text orientation to quantify the emotional intention, using reply structure to calculate diffused influence, then identifying the network opinion leaders. Experiments indicated that this method can improve the accuracy of opinion leader identification effectively.

We investigate whether individual differences predict perceptions of leadership patterns during teamwork. Building on information processing theories, we show that team members’ individual cognitive schemas regarding the distribution of leadership in teams, leadership structure schemas, predict the centralization of individual perceptions of team leadership. Team members’ individual perceptions of communication network centralization partially mediates, and team member’s affective motivation to lead moderates this relationship. Our results indicate that leadership structure schemas, as well as motivation to lead, affect perceived patterns of interpersonal communication as well as the centralization of the individually perceived team leadership structure.

The effects of two short-term interpersonal skills training approaches on the verbal behavior of student speech-language pathologists were evaluated during peer interviews. Students who had participated in an experiential program in which they practiced specific verbal skills used significantly more verbal behaviors though to facilitate a helping relationship than did students whose training had consisted of observing and analyzing these verbal skills in clinical interactions. Comparisons with results of previous research suggest that length of training may be a crucial variable as students appear to need considerable time and practice to master the complex skills necessary for interpersonal effectiveness.
