Layanan Informasi Desa/Rural Information Service (LISA) is an information service for farmers based on SMS. It is used to disseminate agricultural information and provide a space for agricultural tips, ask questions and have a discussion. This study was conducted to determine the response and the perceived benefits of these services for farmer households. The study was conducted in Karawang, where LISA was launched. The results showed that the frequency of LISA’S use varied greatly from once per week to 30 times per week, but no farmer household used Android-based applications. The frequency of use of these services is significantly related to satisfaction level and is associated with the level of knowledge of farmer households. On the other hand, the frequency of use of LISA is unrelated to the characteristics of farmer households, which include age, education, sex, land ownership, as well as participation in farmer groups, and cosmopolitanism. A higher level of knowledge is also related to the suitability of the tips given by LISA and the degree of satisfaction with the LISA.

Development and communication are two inseparable factors because a successful development cannot come up without the communication role as a strategy to realize a community welfare. The social inequality and poverty of today is caused by the development that is not in line with the community’s real needs or expectations. This triggers disagreements or non-convergent communication among all resource managers in the village. This study uses the theoretical approach of convergence communication model to examine factors that influence the development gaps in terms of individual characteristics, and the supporting environment available and to formulate convergent strategies to solve development gaps. This research is designed with a quantitative approach and qualitative data to identify social behaviors and symptoms in the community. The results showed that communication convergence does not occur in the development programs, which could be affected by low education, income levels and inappropriate policies applied in development to achieve common development goals.

In the last 4-6 years, the government has provided an agricultural mechanization assistance through the Ministry of Agriculture to Gapoktan, Poktan or the Agricultural Equipment and Machinery Service Business (UPJA). Assistance is provided in order to support increased production and productivity of superior commodities. It is suspected that the use of alsintan has not been optimally utilized. In order to optimize the utilization of this government innovation, the optimization is carried out by analyzing the adoption and the use of alsintan and implementing the optimization of machinery. This study is limited to character analysis of the innovation that affects the speed of adoption of alsintan innovation in farmers in Bogor, Sukabumi and Cianjur districts. The unit of research analysis was individual alsintan user farmers. The samples were determined purposively. There were 158 selected respondents. The descriptive statistical analysis used was Microsoft Excel 2016. The results showed there were some influences of innovation attributes on the adoption of two-wheeled hand tractor and water pump innovations. Farmers can make use of innovation because it reduces production costs, makes work easier, and increases production. Besides, it is easy to use and easy to test; and the results are easy to see. Further research is needed to analyze the environment, organizations and individuals as the driving factors for innovation adoption.
