Abstract. Background: Identifying precursors that will aid in the discovery of individuals who may harm themselves or others has long been a focus of scholarly research. Aim: This work set out to determine if it is possible to use the legacy tokens of active shooters and notes left from individuals who completed suicide to uncover signals that foreshadow their behavior. Method: A total of 25 suicide notes and 21 legacy tokens were compared with a sample of over 20,000 student writings for a preliminary computer-assisted text analysis to determine what differences can be coded with existing computer software to better identify students who may commit self-harm or harm to others. Results: The results support that text analysis techniques with the Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count (LIWC) tool are effective for identifying suicidal or homicidal writings as distinct from each other and from a variety of student writings in an automated fashion. Conclusion: Findings indicate support for automated identification of writings that were associated with harm to self, harm to others, and various other student writing products. This work begins to uncover the viability or larger scale, low cost methods of automatic detection for individuals suffering from harmful ideation.

Currently, and over the past decade, intensive research is being conducted in the field of organizational, preventive and therapeutic work with weather-sensitive and weather-dependent patients suffering from cardiovascular pathology. One of the most discussed issues in practical medicine is the application of climate conditions, with a fixed frequency and time of exposure. Conditions of influence of climatic factors, in some cases, can exceed the limits of the norm and, accordingly, have a pathological effect on the functional state of a person. Thus, we used data from statistically reliable results of 928 questionnaires processed and analyzed, reflecting the medical and social characteristics of patients with cardiovascular pathology. Direct results were evaluated by analyzing changes in the dynamics of indicators. According to a questionnaire survey, 62% of patients who have chronic diseases and seek medical help for diseases of the cardiovascular system believe that weather factors have a significant impact on their health. of the patients who do not have chronic diseases, 38% gave positive answers to the question about the weather sensitivity of their health. As part of the pilot project to create a system of long-term care for elderly and disabled citizens in the Voronezh region, patients are informed about the sources of obtaining specialized medical weather forecasts in the region; interaction between the parties is organized to conduct sanitary and educational work; medical examinations are organized and conducted; training sessions are organized for relatives of citizens who have lost the ability to self-service. Further organizational, preventive and therapeutic work with weather-sensitive and weather-dependent patients in the Voronezh region is characterized by an increase in the quality of medical care for patients with cardiovascular diseases.

In modern conditions, chronic tobacco intoxication and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease are widespread and affect the health and life expectancy of patients. Among patients with tuberculosis, chronic tobacco intoxication and COPD are also widespread. Against the background of smoking and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in patients with tuberculosis of the respiratory system, bronchial obstruction, hypoxemia, impaired capillary pulmonary blood flow, and a decrease in the diffusion capacity of the lungs are determined. A comorbid state is accompanied by the development of oxidative stress, systemic inflammation, endothelial dysfunction. Such changes in combination with dyslipidemia contribute to the development of multifocal atherogenesis, systemic arterial hypertension and the rapid development of cardiovascular pathology

Adults born after 1970s are more prone to cardiovascular diseases. Death rate percentage is quite high due to heart related diseases. Therefore, there is necessity to enquire the problem or detection of heart diseases earlier for their proper treatment. As, Valvular heart disease, that is, stenosis and regurgitation of heart valve, are also a major cause of heart failure; which can be diagnosed at early-stage by detection and analysis of heart sound signal, that is, HS signal. In this proposed work, an attempt has been made to detect and localize the major heart sounds, that is, S1 and S2. The work in this article consists of three parts. Firstly, self-acquisition of Phonocardiogram (PCG) and Electrocardiogram (ECG) signal through a self-assembled, data-acquisition set-up. The Phonocardiogram (PCG) signal is acquired from all the four auscultation areas, that is, Aortic, Pulmonic, Tricuspid and Mitral on human chest, using electronic stethoscope. Secondly, the major heart sounds, that is, S1 and S2are detected using 3rd Order Normalized Average Shannon energy Envelope (3rd Order NASE) Algorithm. Further, an auto-thresholding has been used to localize time gates of S1 and S2 and that of R-peaks of simultaneously recorded ECG signal. In third part; the successful detection rate of S1 and S2, from self-acquired PCG signals is computed and compared. A total of 280 samples from same subjects as well as from different subjects (of age group 15–30 years) have been taken in which 70 samples are taken from each auscultation area of human chest. Moreover, simultaneous recording of ECG has also been performed. It was analyzed and observed that detection and localization of S1 and S2 found 74% successful for the self-acquired heart sound signal, if the heart sound data is recorded from pulmonic position of Human chest. The success rate could be much higher, if standard data base of heart sound signal would be used for the same analysis method. The, remaining three auscultations areas, that is, Aortic, Tricuspid, and Mitral have smaller success rate of detection of S1 and S2 from self-acquired PCG signals. So, this work justifies that the Pulmonic position of heart is most suitable auscultation area for acquiring PCG signal for detection and localization of S1 and S2 much accurately and for analysis purpose.

MicroRNAs (miRs) contribute to different aspects of cardiovascular pathology, among them cardiac hypertrophy and atrial fibrillation. Cardiac miR expression was analyzed in a mouse model with structural and electrical remodeling. Next-generation sequencing revealed that miR-208b-3p was ~25-fold upregulated. Therefore, the aim of our study was to evaluate the impact of miR-208b on cardiac protein expression. First, an undirected approach comparing whole RNA sequencing data to miR-walk 2.0 miR-208b 3′-UTR targets revealed 58 potential targets of miR-208b being regulated. We were able to show that miR-208b mimics bind to the 3′ untranslated region (UTR) of voltage-gated calcium channel subunit alpha1 C and Kcnj5, two predicted targets of miR-208b. Additionally, we demonstrated that miR-208b mimics reduce GIRK1/4 channel-dependent thallium ion flux in HL-1 cells. In a second undirected approach we performed mass spectrometry to identify the potential targets of miR-208b. We identified 40 potential targets by comparison to miR-walk 2.0 3′-UTR, 5′-UTR and CDS targets. Among those targets, Rock2 and Ran were upregulated in Western blots of HL-1 cells by miR-208b mimics. In summary, miR-208b targets the mRNAs of proteins involved in the generation of cardiac excitation and propagation, as well as of proteins involved in RNA translocation (Ran) and cardiac hypertrophic response (Rock2).
