AbstractThe present paper shows and discusses microphotographs of the structural composition of reconstituted tobacco sheet. So far as the biological activity of the sheets' smoke condensate had been investigated (5), the authors try to find a relation between the said activity and the microscopic structure.

The corticioid basidiomycete Jaapia ochroleuca (Bres.) Nannf. et J. Erikss. is recorded for the first time in the European Russia from the «Bryansky Les» Nature Reserve (Bryansk Region). The taxonomic position of the species is defined briefly. Its morphological description and data on distribution and ecology are provided. The details of microscopic structure of the collected specimen are illustrated.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of gamma sterilization and its effect on microscopic structure of deeply frozen dog skull. Subjects and methods: 50 pairs of dog skull fragments have the same size,which were taken symmetrically through the midline of the skull, were divided into two lots. Evident lot consisting of 50 pieces are just deeply frozen, not irradicated. Experimental lot which was composed of 50 pieces were deeply frozen and exposed to 25kGy of gamma radiation. Afterwards, to evaluate the effect of gamma sterilization and compare the alter of bone matrix between lot groups. Results: After gamma irradiation, all dog skull fragments were negative with bacteriological examination. In microscopic scale, no difference was found between the two lots and there was no structural change in the irradiated fragments of all dog skull. Conclusion: Gamma irradiation with 25 kGy: (i) It has the ability to kill bacteria completely in the type of bacteria commonly infected tissue. (ii) It does not alter the structure of dog skull in microstructures. Key words: dog skull, gamma, sterilize

This granite forms an isolated mass, rising into two eminences a few miles south of Louisburg, called Corvock Brack (1287 feet) and Knockaskeheen (1288 feet). It is a greyish granite—generally fine—grained—consisting of quartz, two felspars,—one orthoclase, the other triclinic, probably oligoclase—and dark green mica. In some places there are patches in which the felspar assumes the appearance of “graphic granite.” Numerous boulders of this granite are strewn over the district to the north-west, and on the south side of Knockaskeheen; the rock is traversed by regular joints ranging N. 10 W., along which it splits off into nearly vertical walls. The position of the granite is shown on Griffith's Geological Map of Ireland, and it is surrounded by schistose beds, generally metamorphosed, and probably of Lower Silurian age. The granite itself is of older date than the Upper Llandovery beds, which lie to the southward.
