Abstract The Kerr-Schild form provides a natural way of realizing the classical double copy that relates exact solutions in general relativity to exact solutions in gauge theory. In this paper, we examine the asymptotic structure of Kerr-Schild form. In Newman-Unti gauge, we find a generic solution space satisfying the Kerr-Schild form in series expansion around null infinity. The news function in the solution space is chiral and can not lead to a mass loss formula. A class of asymptotically flat complex pp-wave solutions in closed form is obtained from the solution space.

Abstract The Weyl double copy is a procedure for relating exact solutions in biadjoint scalar, gauge and gravity theories, and relates fields in spacetime directly. Where this procedure comes from, and how general it is, have until recently remained mysterious. In this paper, we show how the current form and scope of the Weyl double copy can be derived from a certain procedure in twistor space. The new formalism shows that the Weyl double copy is more general than previously thought, applying in particular to gravity solutions with arbitrary Petrov types. We comment on how to obtain anti-self-dual as well as self-dual fields, and clarify some conceptual issues in the twistor approach.

Abstract We generalize a notion of ‘conserved’ charges given by Wald and Zoupas to the asymptotically de Sitter spacetimes. Surprisingly, our construction is less ambiguous than the one encountered in the asymptotically flat context. An expansion around exact solutions possessing Killing vectors provides their physical meaning. In particular, we discuss a question of how to define energy and angular momenta of gravitational waves propagating on Kottler and Carter backgrounds. We show that obtained expressions have a correct limit as Λ → 0. We also comment on the relation between this approach and the one based on the canonical phase space of initial data at ℐ+.

AbstractIn a previous paper, we gave a correspondence between certain exact solutions to a (2 + 1)-dimensional integrable Chiral Model and holomorphic bundles on a compact surface. In this paper, we use algebraic geometry to derive a closed-form expression for those solutions and show by way of examples how the algebraic data which parametrise the solution space dictates the behaviour of the solutions.

We consider a pp-wave symmetric model in the framework of the Einstein–Maxwell-aether-axion theory. Exact solutions to the equations of axion electrodynamics are obtained for the model, in which pseudoscalar, electric and magnetic fields were constant before the arrival of a gravitational pp-wave. We show that dynamo-optical interactions, i.e. couplings of electromagnetic field to a dynamic unit vector field, attributed to the velocity of a cosmic substratum (aether, vacuum, dark fluid[Formula: see text]), provide the response of axionically active electrodynamic system to display anomalous behavior.

Abstract The generalized Kerr-Schild ansatz (GKSA) is a powerful tool for constructing exact solutions in Double Field Theory (DFT). In this paper we focus in the heterotic formulation of DFT, considering up to four-derivative terms in the action principle, while the field content is perturbed by the GKSA. We study the inclusion of the generalized version of the Green-Schwarz mechanism to this setup, in order to reproduce the low energy effective heterotic supergravity upon parametrization. This formalism reproduces higher-derivative heterotic background solutions where the metric tensor and Kalb-Ramond field are perturbed by a pair of null vectors. Next we study higher-derivative contributions to the classical double copy structure. After a suitable identification of the null vectors with a pair of U(1) gauge fields, the dynamics is given by a pair of Maxwell equations plus higher derivative corrections in agreement with the KLT relation.

Abstract Starting from gravity in asymptotically flat spacetime, the BMS momentum fluxes are constructed. These are non-local expressions of the solution space living on the celestial Riemann surface. They transform in the coadjoint representation of the extended BMS group and correspond to Virasoro primaries under the action of bulk superrotations. The relation between the BMS momentum fluxes and celestial CFT operators is then established: the supermomentum flux is related to the supertranslation operator and the super angular momentum flux is linked to the stress-energy tensor of the celestial CFT. The transformation under the action of asymptotic symmetries and the OPEs of the celestial CFT currents are deduced from the BMS flux algebra.

We present a technique for obtaining exact spherically symmetric asymptotically de Sitter (dS) or anti-de Sitter (adS) black hole solutions of dilaton gravity with generic coupling to Maxwell field, starting from asymptotically flat solutions and adding a suitable dilaton potential to the action.

A generalized geometric method is developed for constructing exact solutions of gravitational field equations in Einstein theory and generalizations. First, we apply the formalism of nonholonomic frame deformations (formally considered for nonholonomic manifolds and Finsler spaces) when the gravitational field equations transform into systems of nonlinear partial differential equations which can be integrated in general form. The new classes of solutions are defined by generic off-diagonal metrics depending on integration functions on one, two and three (or three and four) variables if we consider four (or five) dimensional spacetimes. Second, we use a general scheme when one (two) parameter families of exact solutions are defined by any source-free solutions of Einstein's equations with one (two) Killing vector field(s). A successive iteration procedure results in new classes of solutions characterized by an infinite number of parameters for a non-Abelian group involving arbitrary functions on one variable. Five classes of exact off-diagonal solutions are constructed in vacuum Einstein and in string gravity describing solitonic pp-wave interactions. We explore possible physical consequences of such solutions derived from primary Schwarzschild or pp-wave metrics.
