Abstract Purpose There is a growing body of evidence suggesting a decisive involvement of the human lipid metabolism in cancer development. However, clinical data on the association between blood triglyceride or cholesterol levels including the cholesterol transporters high-density and low-density lipoproteins (LDL, HDL) and cancer incidence have remained inconclusive. Here, we investigated the association between blood triglyceride as well as total, LDL and HDL cholesterol levels and cancer among outpatients from Germany. Methods 61,936 patients with available blood lipid values were identified from the IQVIA Disease Analyzer database and followed up between 2005 and 2019. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to study the association between lipid values and cancer. Results The probability of cancer was significantly lower among patients with elevated total cholesterol concentrations and higher in patients with decreased HDL serum levels. In contrast, serum concentrations of LDL and triglycerides had no impact on cancer risk. In cancer site-stratified analyses, we observed a trend towards higher rates of cancers from digestive organs, breast, skin cancer, urinary tract and cancers from lymphoid and hematopoietic tissue in patients with HDL values < 35 mg/dl, while a negative association between total cholesterol > 250 mg/dl and respiratory organ as well as urinary tract cancers was observed. Conclusion Our data strongly support the hypothesis that serum-specific lipid profiles are positively associated with cancer.

Objective: Acute coronary syndrome is frequently complicated by rhythm disturbances, yet any association between high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol levels and arrhythmias in the setting of non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (non-STEMI) is uncertain. The goal of this study was to evaluate any association between HDL-cholesterol levels and arrhythmias in the setting of non-STEMI. Methods: Retrospective data from Phoenix Veterans Affair Medical Center records were utilized for our study. A total of 6881 patients were found who presented during 2000 to 2003 with non-STEMI with available fasting lipid panels collected within the first 24 hours of admission. Patients were followed for the development of rhythm disturbances up to 6 years after initial presentation, with a mean follow up of 1269 days. Results: We found that high triglycerides/HDL and low-density lipid/HDL ratios were predictive of arrhythmias. However, low HDL levels had strongest association with highest odds ratio (OR) for development of arrhythmias (for HDL <31 mg/dL, OR = 3.72, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 2.55-5.44, P < .05) in patients with diabetes and (for HDL < 31 mg/dL, OR = 3.69, 95% CI = 2.85-4.71, P < .05) in patients without diabetes. Using multivariate analysis adjusting for comorbidities, low HDL level remained independently associated with arrhythmias. Conclusions: Patients with low HDL levels during hospitalization with non-STEMI have a greater risk of developing cardiac rhythm disturbances independent of other risk factors. These data suggest a possible protective role of HDL in preventing arrhythmias in the setting of acute coronary syndrome.

Average levels of ldl on pen shells (A. pictinata) In the meat is 30,990 mg/100g, in the muscle is 28,329 mg/100g and in the Digestive organs is 25,225 mg/100g ; The average levels of hdl on pen shells (A. pictinata) in the meat is 96,772 mg/100g, in the muscle is 87,139 mg/100g and in the Digestive organs is 67,516 mg/100g ; average levels of cholesterol on pen shells (A. pictinata) in the meat is 165,609 mg/100g, in the muscle is 147,382 mg/100g and in the Digestive organs is 114,551 mg/100g. Levels of LDL, HDL and cholesterol Lead to results same that is the most number are located on the meat, then muscle and at least there are on an disgestive organ.

IntroductionPositive regulatory domain containing 16 (PRDM16) protein represents the key regulator of brown adipose tissue (BAT) development. It induces brown fat phenotype and represses white adipose tissue specific genes through the association with C-terminal binding co-repressor proteins (CtBP1 and CtBP2). In healthy adults presence of BAT has been associated with lower glucose, total cholesterol and LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol levels. Our aim was to analyze the association of PRDM16 gene (rs12409277) and CtBP2 gene (rs1561589) polymorphisms with body mass index (BMI), fasting glucose level and lipid profile of adolescents.Material and methodsOur study included 295 healthy school children, 145 boys (49.2%) and 150 girls (50.8%), 15 years of age. Genotypes for the selected polymorphisms were detected by the real-time PCR method. Age, gender, height, weight, lipid profile (total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides) and fasting glucose levels were recorded.ResultsWe did not find a statistically significant association of rs12409277 and rs1561589 polymorphisms with BMI, fasting glucose and lipid profile of adolescents. We further analyzed the combined effect of the two SNPs and the statistical analysis showed that carriers of CT genotype of rs12409277 polymorphism and GG genotype of rs1561589 polymorphism had significantly lower total cholesterol (p = 0.001) and LDL cholesterol (p = 0.008) levels compared to all other groups of genotypes.ConclusionsOur study suggests that rs12409277 and rs1561589 polymorphism might have an influence on total and LDL cholesterol levels in adolescents. Larger studies should be performed in order to confirm our results.

Background and Aim: Healthy goat meat is an essential aspect in increasing consumer acceptance for this livestock product. The research aimed to examine the effect of goat meat containing low cholesterol and rich omega-6 fatty acid on the performance and blood lipid status of white rats (Rattus norvegicus). Materials and Methods: Thirty 2-month-old male white rats (R. norvegicus) weighing 195-230 g were randomly divided into three groups, with each group consisting of 10 rats. Group I was treated with a control feed (T0; BR I concentrate). Group II (T1) was treated with a mixed feed containing 50% control feed and 50% goat meat. Group III (T2) was treated with a mixed feed comprising 50% control feed and 50% goat meat with low cholesterol and rich omega-6 fatty acids. Each treatment was given ad libitum for 30 days. The variables measured were dry matter and organic matter consumption, daily body weight gain, feed conversion, triglyceride levels, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, and atherogenic index (AI). The data were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance in a completely randomized design. Results: The total, HDL, and LDL cholesterol levels at T0, T1, and T2 were as follows: 99.97, 35.97, and 50.43 mg/dL (total cholesterol); 108.35, 33.92, and 58.17 mg/dL (HDL cholesterol); and 101.43, 38.09, and 48.65 mg/dL (LDL cholesterol). The highest HDL and the lowest LDL cholesterol levels (p<0.05) were observed in the T2 treatment group, which had the lowest AI (1.69 vs. 1.77 and 2.19). Conclusion: The consumption of goat with low cholesterol and rich omega-6 fatty acids reduces the total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol, raises the HDL cholesterol levels, and decreases the AI.
