AbstractThe complete genome sequence of the virulent bacteriophage PMBT3, isolated on the proteolytic Pseudomonas grimontii strain MBTL2-21, showed no significant similarity to other known phage genome sequences, making this phage the first reported to infect a strain of P. grimontii. Electron microscopy revealed PMBT3 to be a member of the family Siphoviridae, with notably long and flexible whiskers. The linear, double-stranded genome of 87,196 bp has a mol% G+C content of 60.4 and contains 116 predicted protein-encoding genes. A putative tellurite resistance (terB) gene, originally reported to occur in the genome of a bacterium, was detected in the genome of phage PMBT3.

The complete genome sequence of Desulfovibrio indicus J2 T , a member of the family Desulfovibrionaceae , consists of 3,966,573-bp in one contig and encodes 3,461 predicted genes, 5 noncoding RNAs, 3 rRNAs operons, and 52 tRNA-encoding genes. The genome is consistent with a heterotrophic, anaerobic lifestyle including the sulfate reduction pathway.

Escherichia coli 4s is a Gram-negative bacterium found in the equine intestinal ecosystem alongside diverse other coliform bacteria and bacteriophages. This announcement describes the complete genome of the T7-like E. coli 4s podophage Penshu1. From its 39,263-bp genome, 54 protein-encoding genes and a 179-bp terminal repeat were predicted.

AbstractA temperate siphovirus, phiCDKH01, was obtained from a clinical isolate of Clostridioides difficile. The phage genome is a 45,089-bp linear double-stranded DNA molecule with an average G+C content of 28.7%. It shows low similarity to known phage genomes, except for phiCD24-1. Genomic and phylogenetic analysis revealed that phiCDKH01 is a newly discovered phage. Sixty-six putative ORFs were predicted in the genome, 37 of which code for proteins with predicted functions. The phiCDKH01 prophage was localized in the host genome. The results of this study increase our knowledge about the genetic diversity of tailed phages.

The near-complete genome sequence of the original Carrot virus Y (CarVY) type isolate (CarVY-Vic) collected in 1999 in Victoria, Australia, and a near-complete genome sequence from an isolate collected in 2019 from the same region (CarVY-2-22) were determined following deep sequencing. The two CarVY genome sequences shared 98% nucleotide identity.

We characterized the complete genome sequence of the lytic Salmonella enterica bacteriophage PRF-SP1, isolated from Penang National Park, a conserved rainforest in northern Malaysia. The novel phage species from the Autographiviridae family has a 39,966-bp double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) genome containing 49 protein-encoding genes and shares 90.96% similarity with Escherichia phage DY1.

ABSTRACT Streptomyces sp. strain Mg1 is a competitive soil-dwelling bacterium that secretes antibiotics that inhibit growth of Bacillus subtilis. Here, we present the genome sequence of Sycamore, a 44,694-bp Streptomyces sp. Mg1 siphophage with 66 predicted protein-coding genes, that is similar to phage genome sequences in the Lomovskayavirus genus.

ABSTRACT The Sulfitobacter bacteria are ubiquitous and important players in organic sulfur cycling in marine environments. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of ϕGT1 infecting Sulfitobacter sp. HGT1, both of which were isolated from coastal sediment. ϕGT1 has a 40,019-bp genome containing 69 predicted protein-encoding genes.
