Abstract Increased fish pond production is associated with the generation of various waste including fish pond sediments. Fish pond sediments could be a valuable source of nutrients for growing plants, however they require further processing in order to be applied to soil. Composting is considered one of the methods for processing fish pond sediments. The aim of this work was to investigate the potential of organic fish pond sediments to be managed through laboratory composting with selected waste materials and evaluate the fertilizing potential of the obtained compost. The scope included: (1) analysis of organic fish pond sediments, (2) laboratory composting of organic fish pond sediments with wheat straw and green grass, (3) analysis of the obtained composts, (4) preparation of growing media with selected additives, (5) analysis of the properties of the prepared growing media and (6) analysis of the effect of the investigated growing media on the growth of Phaseolus vulgaris L. in pot experiments. The addition of cardboard waste and woodchips derived biochar to the obtained compost improved significantly the growth of the roots of Cardamine L. Also, the content of carbon and nitrogen in the compost mixtures increased. The addition of M1 (compost from organic fish pond sediments and 1% of biochar) to the soil had a significant impact on the growth of white beans. Graphic Abstract

Increased production of foodstuffs is required in line with increasing population. The tourism sector in Bali needs quality products that are both viable and environmentally friendly. Previous research since 2002-2016, found mineral fertilizer plus can increase the highest production, , increased soil quality, and increased farm income. The research location was in Baturiti Subdistrict. The plant tested was string bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L) during first planting and residual effect of first fertilization (second planting). Eight fertilizer treatments: P0=control, P1=organic, P2= mineral, P3=chemical (NPK), P4=combination ½ (organic+chemical), P5=combination ½ (mineral+chemical), P6= Baliplus mineral fertilizer (BMF) =combination ½ (organic+mineral+chemical), and P7=combination ½(organic+mineral)], three replications. Parameters observed were bean weight, storage capacity, and value of farm income. The experimental designed used was Randomized Block Design, with Duncan's real test difference of 5%, using the Costat program. Fertilization was very influential and significantly affected to the production of the first planting and residual effects. The treatment using BMF in the first crop, resulted in the highest production (34.33 tons ha-1), highest production increase (62.92%), longest storage (36%) for one week, and the highest farm income (Rp 334 million ha-1). The P1 treatment showed the lowest production (25 ton ha-1), the lowest increase (18.45%), storage capacity (15.27%), and the lowest farm income (Rp 28.7 million ha-1). String bean with the highest residual effect (16.17 ton ha-1) was obtained in treatment P4. The average production of the remaining effect is 48.62% of the first crop. The use of mineral fertilizers plus bali can increase production, savings, and farm income, and reduce 50% of the use of chemical and organic fertilizers.

Louisiana sugarcane farmers in 2016 harvested 11.7 million Mg of millable sugarcane from 163,000 ha, producing 1.47 million Mg of raw sugar and an estimated 3.5 million Mg of bagasse. Even though Louisiana sugar mills use 80% to 90% of the bagasse for fuel production, another 350,000 to 700,000 Mg of bagasse accumulates each year. The conversion of the excess bagasse into biochar is one solution to reduce the excess supply. Research was conducted to determine the impact of sugarcane biochar as an amendment to soilless planting media for the production of green bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) seedlings. Sugarcane bagasse biochar (SBB) and pine biochar (PB) were each combined by volume with a commercial certified organic soilless growing media into 5 combinations (0%:100%, 25%:75%, 50%:50%, 75%:25%, and 100%:0%, biochars and growing media, respectively). Green bean variety ‘Bowie’ seeds were planted in each of the different planting mixtures. The particle size distribution for the two biochars are in stark contrast to each other with the PB particle median, mean, geometric mean, and mode much greater than those of the SBB. As amendments to the soilless greenhouse growing media, the biochars (SBB and PB) functioned very well, especially at the 25% and 75% levels. The 100% SBB performed as well as the 100% commercial soilless growing media and slightly better than the 100% PB when comparing seedling fresh and dry weights. The 100% PB is not recommended as a soilless growing media even with the supplemental fertilizer used in these experiments. These results indicate that the volume of a standard soilless greenhouse growing media can be successfully extended by adding 25% to 75% SBB and PB without reducing bean seedling growth. Future research is needed to evaluate these biochars for the production of additional plant species.

Beans are a kind of edible beans. Beans are rich in protein and vitamins that help lower blood pressure and monitor blood sugar metabolism and are equated with being eaten by those who suffer from diabetes or hypertension. High fiber and enzyme content can help you lose weight. In peanut cultivation it needs to be optimized considering the consumption needs are not comparable with production, One way to increase the productivity of peanut plants is proper fertilization, such as by using organic fertilizers. This study aims (i) to determine the effect of EMRAS on the growth and yield of beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) on swampy swamp land. (ii) Getting the best concentration between EMRAS and growth and yield of beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) on swamp swamp land. This research was carried out on swamp swamp land in Teluk Buluh Village, Banjang District, Hulu Sungai Utara Regency in May - July 2013, using a Randomized Block Design (RBD), with 6 treatments and 4 replications, resulting in 24 experimental units and each experiment. consists of 2 sample plants, so that the total sample is 48 plants. The factors tested were the provision of EMRAS, e0 = 0% (0 l/beds), e1 = 25% (0,25 l/beds), e2 = 50% (0,5 l/beds), e3 = 75% (0,75 l/beds), e4 = 100% (1 l/beds) and e5 = 125% (1,25 l/beds). The results showed that the observation variables of EMRAS administration affected plant height, number of productive branches, number of pods per plant, and pod wet weight per plant with the best administration at 100% concentration (1 l / bed)
